Brayden McNabb had two assists in a 5-3 loss to New Jersey Wednesday night.

Brayden McNabb will be a healthy scratch Thursday in Vancouver.

McNabb had just suited up in the Kings last game on December 30th but has been getting shuffled around with Jamie McBain recently. McNabb has played in 37 games thus far and has yet to pick up a goal, but he does have 10 assists and 35 penalty minutes.

Brayden McNabb continues to play well for the Kings as he has taken advantage of the injuries and suspension on the blueline.

McNabb came into the season as the Kings extra defenseman on the depth chart but has played in every game this season and has nine assists, a plus-two rating and 31 penalty minutes in 26 games thus far. "With all that’s gone on with our back end, it’s allowed Brayden to play, and that’s been really good for him, and it’s really good for us, not just now, but I think in the big picture of it," coach Darryl Sutter said. "It’s almost basically the same talking about Marty’s signing – that big picture part of it – it’s the same as Brayden. Brayden’s our youngest defenseman, and he was looked on coming in as a guy who we wanted to sort of integrate into our team, and that’s what we’ve been able to do." If you are in need of a defenseman in deep pools, McNabb is likely still available and his stats won't hurt you.

Brayden McNabb had an assist in the Kings' 2-0 victory on Tuesday.

McNabb has been hot lately with six assists in his last seven games. He's not a bad short-term pickup, in part because he's a decent source of penalty minutes with 31 in 25 games.

Brayden McNabb has taken advantage of injuries that have occurred on the Kings blueline.

McNabb has played in all 20 games for the Kings and has four assists and a plus-two rating. He has averaged 21:19 minutes over the last four games as Alec Martinez is now out with a finger injury. "I think his whole game is predicated on what he does in his own end," associate coach John Stevens said. "I think that’s what you’re seeing. He’s doing a good job defending. He’s doing a better job defending down low and he’s making a lot more firm plays with the puck. That allows us to get out of our zone with speed and numbers and it draws penalties and leads to good things in the offensive zone. It sets us up for offensive zone success. We’ve always felt that he’s had poise. We’ve always felt he sees the ice well. We just wanted more pace to his game and a little more firmness to his game and he’s done that lately."

Brayden McNabb had six hits on Saturday against the Arizona Coyotes.

He tied for the team lead as Robyn Rehegr also had six. The defenseman was in the lineup as Jake Muzzin was unable to go again. He will likely be sent to the minors once Muzzin returns to action so we cannot recommend him at this time.

Brayden McNabb played in his first game as a member of the Kings on Wednesday.

McNabb got a chance to play alongside Drew Doughty as Jake Muzzin was unavailable due to an upper-body injury. In that role McNabb logged an impressive 23:27 minutes, including 2:06 minutes with the man advantage. Muzzin is just day-to-day though, so McNabb might relinquish that spot very soon.

Brayden McNabb has worked his way onto the Kings' opening game roster.

McNabb inked a two-year deal with Los Angeles over the summer. "It's really exciting to be a part of the Kings," McNabb said. "It's an honor. It's a great organization. I'm thrilled to be here and am just looking forward to getting better each day and hopefully crack the lineup." Cracking the lineup is the key part of that statement. McNabb might be on the roster, but he's likely to spend a fair amount of time as a healthy scratch.

Brayden McNabb may see action with Los Angeles some point this season.

Kings GM Dean Lombard feels that McNabb is NHL-ready, but the team already has a full complement of defensemen. "He's worked his [butt] off, and with all the homework we've [done] on him, he's got a shot," Lombardi said. "And I think him being here in the playoffs makes him really hungry. His skating is the only issue. If we can get that tightened up, he's a good player." McNabb was acquired from Buffalo at the trade deadline and he signed a two-year deal with Los Angeles in July. Look for him to get called up at some point this year should injuries become an issue.
