David Leggio will become an unrestricted free agent on Friday.

"I met with him last week and I met with Steve Bartlett who represents him," GM Darcy Regier said. "He will become unrestricted. I just explained our situation and told him if he chose to be patient there may be something there for him, but right now we were not in position to offer him a contract." He posted a 38-24-1 record with a .924 save percentage and a 2.56 goals-against average in AHL Rochester last season.

David Leggio is slated for unrestricted free agency this summer.

He was Rochester's MVP after earning a 38-24-1 record with a 2.56 GAA and a .924 save percentage in the AHL with Buffalo's minor-league affiliate. However, he may not be back with the Sabres' organization next year. "David is obviously a very good goaltender," Buffalo GM Darcy Regier said. "He's going to be unrestricted. He is going to have some freedom, some rights, and we're going to sit down and talk about the goaltending situation because with the addition of Matt Hackett and even Connor Knapp and Nathan Lieuwen, we've got some decisions to make." If he's brought back and Ryan Miller gets traded then he could find himself in a battle for a backup role on the big club, but there are several factors that would have to fall into place for that scenario to happen.
