He was up with the big club on an emergency basis when Viktor Fasth was injured, but didn't see any NHL action. Bobkov notched a 11-17-0 record with a 3.13 GAA and .903 save percentage in 28 games for the Admirals this year.

Igor Bobkov was called up to the Ducks on Friday night.

With Jonas Hiller out with an illness, the Ducks summoned Bobkov right before the game. It was so last minute, that Bobkov wasn't even there for the start of the game, prompting the team to ink 42-year-old Rob Laurie to a one-day tryout so they had a backup on the bench in the meantime. Laurie last played hockey for the Central Hockey League's El Paso Buzzards in 2002.

Igor Bobkov stopped 39 shots in regulation and overtime to lead Norfolk to a 3-2 win Saturday.

It was Bobkov's first game in net since November 28 and the netminder was outstanding as he also stopped seven of eight shots in the shootout. Bobkov has struggled this season and his job as the number one goalie in Norfolk has been taken over by Justin Andersen. Bobkov has the worst GAA in the AHL at 3.73 and will need a lot of time in the minors before he is ready for an NHL gig.

Igor Bobkov allowed four goals in the first period of the Norfolk Admirals' 5-0 loss to Springfield Sunday and was replaced by Frederik Andersen for the final two frames.

Bobkov has now ceded seven goals in his last two periods of hockey and has twice been chased from a start early. After starting off the season with a nice stretch of play he's beginning to fall back to earth.

Igor Bobkov allowed three first period goals to Binghamton on Saturday and was given an early exit in a 4-2 loss.

Bobkov isn't considered an elite prospect by any stretch, but it's not unheard of for goaltenders with uncertain pedigrees to develop into NHL starters.

Igor Bobkov stopped all 38 shots to lead the Norfolk Admirals to a 2-0 win over St. John's Sunday.

It was the first professional shutout for the Ducks third round pick in the 2009 Draft. Pat Maroon and John Mitchell were the goal scorers for the Admirals. Bobkov played most of last season as an overaged junior for the Kingston Frontenacs and was 17-32-6 with a 3.64 GAA and a .902 save percentage. He'll need at least a couple of seasons in the minors before he will have a chance to crack the Ducks lineup.

The Anaheim Ducks have assigned junior goaltender Igor Bobkov to Syracuse of the AHL.

Bobkov played for the Kingston Frontenacs of the OHL this season as an overaged junior, compiling a 17-32-6 record with a 3.64 GAA and a .902 save percentage. The former third round pick should spent at least a couple of seasons in the minors gaining experience before having a shot at the NHL.

The Anaheim Ducks have returned four players to junior hockey including goaltender Igor Bobkov.

Bobkov was not expected to make the team, especially with veterans Jonas Hiller and Dan Ellis ahead of him. Coach Randy Carlyle was not pleased with the effort of the Ducks in their first two pre-season games, both home losses, by an aggregate score of 15-3. Bobkov has one more year of OHL eligibility and will start the season with the London Knights. Fellow goaltender John Gibson and forward Joseph Cramarossa were also sent back.

The Kingston Frontenacs have acquired Russian goaltender and Anaheim Ducks prospect Igor Bobkov from the London Knights.

Bobkov is eligible to play one more season in the OHL but if he plays well enough at training camp, the Ducks could decide to let the six foot, six inch netminder get experience playing in the AHL. Bobkov has the possibility of an NHL career but needs a lot of playing time, so staying in the OHL could be best for him.

Igor Bobkov stopped 43 of 46 shots in his AHL debut on Thursday.

Bobkov was selected in the third round of the 2009 Entry Draft. The six foot, six inch netminder starred for the Syracuse Crunch after playing this past season in London for the OHL Knights. He will need a couple of seasons at least of seasoning in the minors but is worth keeping on your radar in long-term keeper leagues.

Igor Bobkov has signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Anaheim Ducks.

Bobkov was selected in the third round of the 2009 NHL entry draft by the Ducks. He'll spend the 2010-11 season with the OHL London Knights.
