Jared Spurgeon tallied his third goal of the season on Tuesday in a 4-3 loss to Pittsburgh.
He has racked up two goals and five assists over a six-game scoring spree. The 25-year-old blueliner now has 12 points in 17 matches this season. He's worthy of a flier in standard leagues, but this streak probably won't last much longer. Nov 18 - 11:30 AM

Jared Spurgeon scored the winner and only goal of the game to lead the Wild to a 1-0 win over Tampa Bay.

It was Spurgeon's second of the season and he was set up by Charlie Coyle and Jason Pominville. Spurgeon now has seven points in 13 games and is on his way to a career high in points as his mark of 26 was set two seasons ago. He is a nice 4-5 defenseman in deep leagues.
Nov 7 - 10:44 PM

Jared Spurgeon had two assists in Saturday's 3-0 win over Anaheim.

After not registering a point in his first five games, Spurgeon now has four assists in his last two contests. The 25-year-old finished Saturday's game with two shots, one hit, two blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in 19:33 of ice time.
Oct 25 - 8:24 AM

Jared Spurgeon chipped in two assists as the Wild beat the reeling Columbus Blue Jackets 3-2 on Thursday night.

Spurgeon connected for his first two points of the season so far, being held scoreless in the first five games. The 25-year-old will try to top his career high of 26 points this season.
Oct 22 - 11:11 PM

Jared Spurgeon scored the lone goal in the Wild's 6-1 loss to St. Louis on Wednesday.

Spurgeon was a minus-2 on the night but did manage the goal on the power-play. The only Wild player not a minus player on the night was Nino Niederreiter who drew an assist on the goal. The Wild players will like to forget this game ever happened as they were booed off the ice at every intermission.
Apr 23 - 12:58 AM

Jared Spurgeon produced a goal and an assist in Minnesota's 6-2 win against New Jersey on Tuesday.

He was credited with the game-winning goal and he finished with a plus-3 rating. Spurgeno has contributed eight goals and 20 points in 52 games with the Wild this season.
Mar 11 - 1:07 PM

Defenseman Jared Spurgeon will be back in the Minnesota Wild lineup when the Colorado Avalanche visits Minnesota Sunday.

Spurgeon has missed the past eight games with concussion-like symptoms. During his absence, Minnesota went 7-1-0. But he is a welcome back by the Wild, which enters the day one point ahead of the Winnipeg Jets for the top Wild Card spot in the Western Conference for the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Spurgeon is second among Wild defensemen with seven goals this season and third with 18 points. He is a plus-1.
Mar 8 - 4:09 PM

Jared Spurgeon won't return from a concussion on Thursday.

"It's tough. Not a lot of practice time, so you use these pregame skates like practices," Spurgeon said. "But it's tough because with what I had, you can't do much, so you lose it pretty fast when guys are playing every other day." He might be ready to play on Friday against Carolina.
Mar 5 - 6:06 PM

Jared Spurgeon (upper body) has been moved to the injured reserve list.

Minnesota didn't immediately make a corresponding move. The Wild's decision to shift Spurgeon to the IR list isn't hard to understand though given that it's presumably retroactive to Feb. 18. He's eligible to play as early as Thursday, although he reportedly has concussion-like symptoms, so it's entirely possible that he'll be on the sidelines for a while.
Feb 24 - 1:35 PM

Jared Spurgeon (upper body) will miss Tuesday's game.

Spurgeon hasn't played since Feb. 18 due to the injury. He has seven goals and 18 points in 50 contests in 2014-15.
Feb 23 - 1:24 PM

Jared Spurgeon will miss Friday's game with an upper-body injury.

It's believed he suffered concussion-like symptoms after he was struck in the chin by a Mark Giordano shot on Wednesday.
Feb 19 - 4:43 PM

Jared Spurgeon was hit in the face by a puck on his second shift of Wednesday's 3-2 overtime win over Calgary.

He wasn't able to return. Matt Dumba got some extra responsibilities in Spurgeon's place. Consider him day-to-day for now.
Feb 19 - 12:55 PM

Jared Spurgeon is averaging 24:12 minutes per game in 2014-15.

Amazingly, that's only good for third place among the Wild's defense. Minnesota heavily leans on Ryan Suter, Jonas Brodin, Spurgeon, and Marco Scandella, but those are the only blueliners coach Mike Yeo seems to trust with much ice time. With a little over half the season in the books, it doesn't look like the Wild have any intention of giving Spurgeon a bit more rest.
Jan 23 - 5:24 PM

Jared Spurgeon (illness) will play Wednesday night.

He has missed the last two games with an illness. Spurgeon has nine points, 58 blocks and 56 shots in 22 contests this year.
Wed, Dec 17, 2014 06:27:00 PM

Jared Spurgeon reportedly has a stomach virus and not the mumps.

Spurgeon missed Saturday's contest due to the illness. There's naturally plenty of speculation whenever a player gets sick now because the NHL has been trying to contain a mumps outbreak. Spurgeon should be considered day-to-day for now.
