Brenden Dillon has signed a five-year contract to remain with the San Jose Sharks.
The 24-year-old defenseman could have become a restricted free agent Wednesday. The contract has an average annual value of $3.27 million, CSN Bay Area’s Kevin Kurz reported. The Sharks acquired Dillon Nov. 21 in a trade with the Dallas Stars for defenseman Jason Demers and a third-round choice in the 2016 NHL Draft. Dillon scored two goals, added seven assists and posted a minus-11 rating in 60 games with the Sharks. Jun 29 - 9:58 PM

Brenden Dillon and the Sharks are close to agreeing to a new deal.

"My kind of gut feel is that it should get done within the next little while, next few weeks," said Dillon's agent Jarrett Bousquet. "I don't see it dragging on any further. I think both sides feel that talks have been good and should be able to get something done." He does have arbitration rights if negotiations go south, but that doesn't appear as though it will happen.

Sharks general manager Doug Wilson says that contract talks with Brenden Dillon are "progressing."

San Jose acquired the 24-year-old early during the season from the Stars for Jason Demers. He had 10 points in 80 games this season. Dillon, a restricted free agent, earned $1.25 million in 2014-15.

Brenden Dillon will be a restricted free agent again this off-season.

Dillon did not sign with the Dallas Stars until October 2 last season and was dealt 50 days later to the Sharks for Jason Demers. He hopes that negotiations are easier this time around. He inked a one-year deal for $1.25 million in 2014-15 and should get a nice raise for the upcoming campaign. He had two goals and 10 points with 75 penalty minutes this past season.

Brenden Dillon collected a helper and two minors in San Jose's 3-1 win over Toronto on Thursday night.

Dillon did well to find Tyler Kennedy cross-ice through the crowd, leading to the opening marker of the game. However Coach McLellan probably didn't appreciate Dillon's two penalties within just 3:16 of game time, all in the first period. Either way, he's now up to seven assists and eight points (all but one with SJ), and 38 PIMs through 43 games this season.

Brenden Dillon scored a goal in a 3-2 victory against Arizona.

It was Dillon's first goal since Feb. 27, 2014. He has seven points in 42 contests this season.
Jan 14 - 9:44 AM

Brenden Dillon has been a nice addition for the San Jose Sharks.

The Sharks acquired Dillon from Dallas on Nov. 21. "I think he’s adjusted really well. He's very astute," Sharks coach Todd McLellan said. "Asks questions, he's inquisitive, wants to know how we do things. … He's very coachable that way." Dillon doesn't contribute much offensively which makes him a non-factor in standard leagues, but he does benefit San Jose with his physical and defensive play.

Brenden Dillon made his San Jose debut on Saturday, alongside Brent Burns.

Dillon was dealt to the Sharks on Friday and had trouble with the airlines as his equipment was misplaced on a direct flight to San Jose. Nevertheless, he managed to get it and played 21:20 and had four hits with a blocked shot. Look for his hits to improve as he had only 27 in 20 games with Dallas.

The San Jose Sharks will have new defenseman Brenden Dillon in their lineup on Saturday ... at least if his equipment makes it on time.

The big 24-year-old has limited fantasy value in "grit stats" areas, as he has 23 PIM and 27 hits in 20 games so far this season. The 2013-14 campaign is more ideal: 86 PIM, 168 hits and 149 blocked shots. Still not a huge factor, but he can help in peripheral categories.

The San Jose Sharks have acquired Brendan Dillon from the Dallas Stars in exchange for Jason Demers and a 2016 third-round pick.

Dillon has a points and 23 penalty minutes in 20 contests this season. His fantasy value is limited in standard leagues, but he is somewhat noteworthy in leagues that value hits and blocked shots.

Brenden Dillon's agent, Jarrett Bousquet, said that a two-year offer for $1.9 million a season was rejected by the Stars on Tuesday.

"It's frustrating and disappointing, and I know Brenden feels that way," Bousquet said. "There is a market out there for him to be paid even more than this, so this is an offer that we think should get things done." Dillon remains unsigned with training camp coming to a close and the regular season on the horizon.

Restricted free agent Brenden Dillon still hasn't signed a new contract with the Dallas Stars.

Dillon has now missed over one week of training camp because he is holding out for a new deal. It doesn't seem like the two sides are close to reaching an agreement. The 23-year-old registered 6 goals and 17 points and averaged 21:05 of ice time last season. It's still early but it's becoming increasingly possible that Dillon could miss some regular season games.

Brenden Dillon is working out in Vancouver, while he waits for a contract to be worked out with the Dallas Stars.

He's coming off his entry-level deal and played well for the Stars last season. Dillon posted 17 points, 86 penalty minutes and a plus-9 rating in 80 games. He's also a strong contributor in hits and blocked shots.
