The Buffalo Sabres decided to waive Jason Akeson on Saturday.
Akeson is an AHL/NHL 'tweener at the moment, putting up generally strong numbers in the AHL. At worst, he provides organizational depth for Buffalo, yet he's not particularly fantasy-relevant. Oct 3 - 2:31 PM

Jason Akeson is hoping to land a spot on the Sabres for the start of the 2015-16 season.

Coach Dan Bylsma has liked what he has seen from Akeson during training camp. He likes the forward's skill and his ability to play a "harder game." Akeson notched 23 goals and 53 points in 57 games with Philadelphia's AHL affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, last season. He has one goal and one assist in 15 career NHL appearances.

Jason Akeson will not be fine or suspended for his hit on Colin Greening during Wednesday's preseason game.

The league determined that Akeson's skates were on the ice at the time of the hit. There was contact with Greening's head, but it was ruled to be unavoidable.
Sep 25 - 2:33 PM

Jason Akeson faces a possible fine or suspension for an incident that occurred during Wednesday's preseason game against Ottawa.

Akeson might be punished on the grounds of charging and an illegal check to the head against Colin Greening. He didn't receive a penalty during the game for his actions, but has a hearing scheduled for Friday. He had no points in 13 games with the Philadelphia Flyers in 2014-15.
Sep 24 - 12:41 PM

Jason Akeson was called up from the minors on Saturday.

Akeson was held off the scoresheet as he played his first NHL game since November 15. It was not a great offensive season for the 24-year-old in the NHL as he was held pointless in 13 games.
Apr 12 - 3:12 AM

The Philadelphia Flyers have assigned Jason Akeson to the AHL.

That was quick. Akeson was recalled on Saturday, but didn't play against Buffalo, and he's now being sent down. The 24-year-old has no points in 12 games this season. He has no fantasy value going forward.
Jan 18 - 1:16 PM

The Philadelphia Flyers have recalled Jason Akeson from the minors.

The recall was needed as Scott Laughton is out of action with what could be a concussion. Akeson started the season with the Flyers and did not garner a point in 12 games. He had eight goals and 17 points in 19 games with Lehigh Valley of the AHL before his recall.

Jason Akeson will continue to be a healthy scratch for the Flyers Monday night.

Carlo Colaiacovo will also be a healthy scratch when the Flyers visit the Islanders Monday night.

The Philadelphia Flyers are sitting forward Jason Akeson on Saturday.

Akeson hasn't scored a single point in 12 games in 2014-15, so it's not really a huge surprise.

Jason Akeson was a healthy scratch on Saturday.

Akeson was joined in the press box by Blair Jones and Carlo Colaiacovo. Akeson came into this season with a lot of hope as he had 24 goals and 64 points in 70 AHL games last season but has not had a point in eight NHL contests this season and could be headed back to the minors shortly as he is on a two-way contract.

Jason Akeson is battling for a roster spot with the Philadelphia Flyers.

If the team starts the year with 13 forwards then there appears to be two spots left for Blair Jones, Pierre-Edouard Bellemare and Akeson to compete for. Philadelphia also has Scott Laughton, Chris VandeVelde and Zack Stortin, but they are likely ticketed for the minors.
