The Philadelphia Flyers have assigned Jason Akeson to the AHL.
That was quick. Akeson was recalled on Saturday, but didn't play against Buffalo, and he's now being sent down. The 24-year-old has no points in 12 games this season. He has no fantasy value going forward. Jan 18 - 1:16 PM

The Philadelphia Flyers have recalled Jason Akeson from the minors.

The recall was needed as Scott Laughton is out of action with what could be a concussion. Akeson started the season with the Flyers and did not garner a point in 12 games. He had eight goals and 17 points in 19 games with Lehigh Valley of the AHL before his recall.

Jason Akeson will continue to be a healthy scratch for the Flyers Monday night.

Akeson will once again find himself on the sidelines for the Flyers. After a solid playoff performance last year, Akeson has yet to be a factor for Philadelphia this season with zero points in 12 games. Carlo Colaiacovo will also be a healthy scratch when the Flyers visit the Islanders Monday night.

The Philadelphia Flyers are sitting forward Jason Akeson on Saturday.

Akeson hasn't scored a single point in 12 games in 2014-15, so it's not really a huge surprise.

Jason Akeson is slated to play with R.J. Umberger and Vincent Lecavalier on Friday.

Jason Akeson was a healthy scratch on Saturday.

Akeson was joined in the press box by Blair Jones and Carlo Colaiacovo. Akeson came into this season with a lot of hope as he had 24 goals and 64 points in 70 AHL games last season but has not had a point in eight NHL contests this season and could be headed back to the minors shortly as he is on a two-way contract.

Jason Akeson will open the NHL season with the Philadelphia Flyers.

Akeson had 24 goals and 64 points in the AHL last season but ended up playing in the playoffs for the Flyers where he scored twice and added an assist in seven games. Look for Akeson to get 25-30 points this season as a bottom-six forward.

Jason Akeson is battling for a roster spot with the Philadelphia Flyers.

If the team starts the year with 13 forwards then there appears to be two spots left for Blair Jones, Pierre-Edouard Bellemare and Akeson to compete for. Philadelphia also has Scott Laughton, Chris VandeVelde and Zack Stortin, but they are likely ticketed for the minors.

The Philadelphia Flyers have inked Jason Akeson to a one-year, two-way contract.

Akeson had 24 goals and 64 points in 70 AHL games in 2013-14. He's worth keeping an eye on during training camp even if he's far from a safe bet to make the team.

The Philadelphia Flyers have made a qualifying offer to Jason Akeson.

The 24-year-old was a pleasant surprise in the post-season after playing in the last game of the season in each of the last two seasons. Akeson managed two goals and three points in the seven game series against the Rangers and that play, along with a 24 goal, 64 point effort in the AHL in 2013-14, was enough to warrant a qualifying offer from Philadelphia.

Jason Akeson scored the only Flyers goal in Wednesday's 2-1 loss to the Rangers in Game 7 of their first round playoff series.

Akeson's third period tally cut the Rangers' lead in half, but the Flyers weren't able to draw any closer. Braydon Coburn and Matt Read picked up helpers on Philly's solitary goal.

Jason Akeson has been a pleasant surprise for the Flyers in the playoffs.

Akeson was recalled for the final regular season game and has played in all five playoff matches to date. He has a goal and two points in the post-season and has averaged 12:06 minutes of ice time in the series. The 23-year-old should have a great chance to crack the Flyers lineup next season as he had 24 goals and 64 points in 70 AHL games this season.

It was a big turnaround in Game 2 for Jason Akeson.

Akeson scored his first NHL playoff goal on Sunday and it came after he took a double minor in Game 1 which resulted in a couple of power play goals for the Rangers which put the game out of reach. His power play goal tied the game at two apiece. "I don't think a bad penalty is going to determine if I play harder or not, I try my hardest no matter what," Akeson said. "It was unfortunate for the first game, but we looked past it. We won the second game, and now we look onto the third."
