Jason Akeson scored his first NHL goal in his debut on Saturday.
"It feels pretty good," Akeson said. "It's pretty exciting. The puck popped out there on a nice play by G (Claude Giroux) and luckily I was able to put it home. I know my family and friends are here and are probably loving it just as much as I am right now. It's fun to experience this. I don't know what else I can say. I'm pretty speechless right now." Akeson had an amazing season. He started with the ECHL Trenton Titans and worked his way up the ranks. Apr 28 - 10:05 AM

Jason Akeson has gotten at least a point in eight of his first nine AHL games this season.

That gives Akeson 10 assists with the Adirondack Phantoms so far this season. He also has two goals and 10 points in 14 games with the ECHL Trenton Titans in 2012-13. He might eventually get a shot with the Philadelphia Flyers, but obviously this lockout needs to end first.

Some of the Flyers' best future prospects will be on display in the ECHL, playing for the Trenton Titans.

There was probably a good chance that some players could've been AHL bound, but but instead with the influx of players at that level, they're back in the ECHL. Some of the exciting young players who will be with the Titans include forward Jason Akeson, who was the team's leading scorer with 55 points in 76 games and goalie Niko Hokinen, who played in the top league in Finland last year. "People might have thought this was more of a glorified ... ‘Slap Shot’ type of league where people fought and guys were older," says Titans President and CEO Rich Lisk. "But now we’re truly a developmental league."

Flyers’ prospect Jason Akeson could get a shot with the big club if injuries take a major toll in Philadelphia once the season begins.

Akeson signed a free-agent, entry-level contract with the Flyers in March 2011 after receiving the OHL’s Leo Lalonde Trophy as the top overage player. He is an undersized forward with plenty of guts and heart.
