The Washington Capitals acquired forward Ryan Bourque from the New York Rangers for Chris Brown.
It's a minor trade. Bourque has spent the season with the AHL's Hartford Wolfpack. The 25-year-old has 10 goals and 24 points in 55 AHL games this season. The trade to the Capitals doesn't give Bourque any fantasy value going forward. He'll probably continue to play in the minors unless the Caps run into more injury trouble. Bourque's brother, Chris, also plays for Washington's AHL affiliate. Feb 28 - 10:23 PM

Ryan Bourque practiced on the fourth line Friday.

Bourque replaced Tanner Glass who was given a maintenance day off. If Glass is unable to go Saturday, look for Bourque to make his first start in the 2015 playoffs. "I think you just prepare every day like you’re in," Bourque said. "It’s a little bit of a different situation than I've been in, being one of the extras. But it’s been a really good learning experience. I’m taking it day by day and enjoying the process."

Ryan Bourque is happy to be part of the Rangers' roster even though he's been a healthy scratch.

He made his NHL debut on Apr. 9 and he's been practicing with the team ever since. "To experience the games at this level, it's a great opportunity," he said. "To have the opportunity to be around these guys, it's been a pleasure." He has remained with the big club even though AHL Hartford is in the second round of the playoffs.

The former 80th overall draft pick in the 2009 draft, and son of Hall of Famer Ray Bourque, had a nice sophomore season for Hartford. He registered a dozen goals and 32 points over 73 games this season, plus a point in five playoff games as well. Bourque has no fantasy value and is only up to join the taxi squad and gain some NHL experience.

Ryan Bourque potted the game-winning goal in Connecticut's 3-2 win over Springfield on Sunday evening.

With 14 points, Bourque had a disappointing 2011-12 campaign, his first after jumping to the pros from the QMJHL, but he's looked a little more comfortable this. He also added an assist, so he already has eight points in 13 games. Matt Gilroy also notched a goal in the win for the Whale.

Ryan Bourque potted a goal as Connecticut defeated Hershey on Friday 3-1.

After two great seasons in the QMJHL, Bourque's production (14 points) in the AHL last year was a huge disappointment, so getting off good start is a nice sign for the Rangers. Matt Gilroy, Christian Thomas and Kyle Jean each had assists.

Ryan Bourque, son of NHL Hall of Fame defenseman Ray Bourque, is ready to show the Rangers' brass what he is capable of when he turns pro this season.

He has been impressive during the rookie tournament in Traverse City, Mich thus far and will look to carry that momentum into some possible time with big club this year. Bourque may start 2011-12 in AHL Hartford, but a call-up could be in his future if he continues to turn heads with his hustle and ability to score.
