Cam Atkinson was one of five Blue Jackets players to record two-point efforts in his team’s 5-2 win against the Rangers on Saturday night.

Atkinson scored twice, one via the empty net, in the win. He also had five shots on goal and plus-two rating. Atkinson is talented enough to build on a great season that saw him score 21 goals and record 40 points. A player with a high motor, Atkinson also continually puts himself in prime scoring positions on the ice, which helps his cause on offense. Nick Foligno (goal, assist), Marko Dano (goal, assist), Scott Hartnell (two helpers) and Ryan Johansen (two helpers) were the other two-point performers.

Cam Atkinson put home the eventual winner Thursday night over Buffalo.

Atkinson was set up by Ryan Johansen on the powerplay at the 12:45 mark in the third to break the 1-1 tie. He saw 3:36 of powerplay time, with 15:38 total time.
Oct 9 - 11:53 PM

Cam Atkinson recorded a goal and an assist for Columbus in a 2-0 preseason win over the Penguins Tuesday night.

Atkinson has become a reliable regular for the Blue Jackets, but never experienced the massive breakout many predicted, making him an interesting post-hype sleeper. Michael Chaput also netted a goal and an assist in the win while Sergei Bobrovsky and Oscar Dansk combined to pitch a 42-save shutout.
Sep 23 - 9:48 PM

Cam Atkinson scored two goals in Columbus' 4-3 victory over Carolina in the 2014 preseason opener on Sunday.

Atkinson is looking to build off of breakout 2013-14 campaign where he scored 21 goals and 40 points in 79 games. He's worth keeping an eye on as he might end up getting plenty of ice time while Nathan Horton recovers from a back injury, but we still can't recommend drafting Atkinson in standard leagues.
Sep 21 - 4:04 PM

Cam Atkinson's shooting percentage dropped to 9.7 last season, but he still managed to score 21 goals.

If he gets some more puck luck then he could push the 30-goal mark, but he isn't a safe bet to reach that total in 2014-15. Atkinson is expected to play on one of the top three lines, but where is unclear with Nathan Horton and Scott Hartnell in the fold. He spent most of his five-on-five playing time with Brandon Dubinsky and Matt Calvert last campaign, which could lead to him lining up there again. If he earns a top-six forward spot then he's capable of closing in on the 50-point plateau.
Aug 22 - 4:10 PM

Cam Atkinson wasn't "impressed" with his performance in the playoffs.

Atkinson had a goal and two assists in six postseason games. "I just felt like, personally, I didn't play my game," Atkinson said. "When I’m playing well, I'm skating with and without the puck. I couldn't play my game for some reason. Making the playoffs was exciting, but I have a whole other level I can get to." Atkinson typically spends the summer training with Martin St. Louis other NHL players, but the Blue Jackets would prefer for their players to turn in Columbus over the offseason. Either way, he thinks his summer training will be important to getting off on the right foot in 2014-15.
May 7 - 10:04 AM

Cam Atkinson found the back of the net in Game 3 of Columbus' first round series against Pittsburgh.

It was Atkinson's first career playoff goal. He broke out in the regular season with 21 goals and 40 points in 79 games.
Apr 22 - 9:44 AM

Cam Atkinson opened the scoring for Columbus on Saturday with his 21st goal of the season.

After 14 points in 27 games in 2011-12, and 18 points in 35 games last season, Atkinson finally played a full season as the 24-year-old ended the season with 40 points in 79 games. He is worth taking next season in very deep leagues at the end of the draft.
Apr 13 - 6:41 AM

Cam Atkinson banked his first 20 goal season with his marker during Tuesday's 3-2 overtime loss to Colorado.

Atkinson scored seven in his rookie season, nine during last year's abbreviated schedule and finally reached the 20 goal plateau in his 72nd game of his third NHL season. The 24 year old has 36 points so far.
Apr 1 - 10:04 PM

Cam Atkinson will return to Columbus' lineup on Thursday night.

He has been scratched in three of the previous five games for the Blue Jackets. In his last nine outings, Atkinson has one goal and one assist. He is projected to join Matt Calvert and Brandon Dubinsky on the second line.
Mar 20 - 3:43 PM

Blake Comeau's two-game suspension for hitting an opponent from behind could open a lineup spot for Cam Atkinson with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Atkinson has been a healthy scratch the past three games, losing his lineup spot after a 6-1 loss last week at Chicago. Atkinson, despite being scratched, is the Blue Jackets' third-leading scorer with 18 goals. The Jackets' coaching staff did not feel Atkinson's complete game has been good but they're hoping the time off will motivate him.
Mar 13 - 9:18 AM

The Columbus Blue Jackets won't use Cam Atkinson on Tuesday.

It will be Atkinson's third straight game in the press box. He has 18 and has 34 points in 63 games in 2013-14.
Mar 11 - 12:02 PM

Cam Atkinson could be a healthy scratch again on Monday.

Atkinson was a healthy scratch for the first time this season on Saturday and coach Todd Richards stated that he planned no changes to the lineup so look for the forward to sit once again. He is third on the Blue Jackets in goals with 18 and has 34 points in 63 games. Keep him reserved for now.
Mar 10 - 7:47 AM

Cam Atkinson was a healthy scratch on Saturday for the first time this season.

Coach Todd Richards sat his second leading goal scorer in place of a couple of bottom six forwards in Blake Comeau and Corey Tropp and the move paid off as the Blue Jackets went into Nashville and shutout the Predators 1-0. Atkinson has 18 goals and 34 points in 63 games this season. The Blue Jackets next play on Monday in Dallas and it remains to be seen if Atkinson will rejoin the lineup or if Richards will continue with a winning lineup.
