Cam Atkinson found the back of the net twice for the Blue Jackets in a 3-1 win over Dallas Thursday.

What could have been a solid rookie campaign for Atkinson was derailed by an untimely injury, but he snapped a five-game pointless drought with tonight's effort, which also included seven shots on goal. Mark Letestu added his 13th of the season in the victory.

Cam Atkinson potted a goal and also registered an assist in the Blue Jackets' 4-1 win over the Blues Friday night.

Atkinson was hot at the end of last season when he had 10 points in his final six games and it carried over to this season as he was third in AHL scoring before the NHL season started. However, Atkinson suffered a high ankle sprain in training camp and has only managed to play 28 games this year. Atkinson is seen by scouts as a future 25- to 30-goal scorer and someone that should be on everyone's radar next year as a late-round sleeper in deeper leagues.

Cam Atkinson expects the high ankle sprain he suffered in January to irritate him until he can fully rest it this summer but the right winger is feeling better, that much is obvious.

Atkinson was the most dynamic player on the ice on Thursday in the Blue Jackets’ 6-4 loss to Edmonton. Coach Todd Richards said he hasn’t spoken to Atkinson about his ankle, but his eyes tell him all he needs to know. "We (the coaches) see the same thing," Richards said. "He had one shift in the second period where (Oilers defenseman) Nick Schultz was chasing him and he couldn’t catch him. That’s the way Cam can have success, using his quickness, the starts and stops and changing direction to separate himself from players. He wasn’t able to do that early on." Atkinson is seen by scouts as a future 25- to 30-goal scorer. He had seven goals and seven assists in 27 games as a rookie last season.

Right winger Cam Atkinson scored two goals and added an assist for Columbus in the Blue Jackets' 6-4 loss to the Oilers in Edmonton Thursday night.

The goals were Atkinson's fourth and fifth of the season. Teammate Artem Anisimov had a three-point night, as well, with a goal (his ninth) and two assists. Matt Calvert also potted a goal for the Blue Jackets, his fifth.

Cam Atkinson is still hampered by his high ankle injury despite playing through it.

Atkinson suffered the injury in training camp after an outstanding start to the season in the AHL as he was third in scoring behind Jordan Eberle and Justin Schultz when the NHL and PA agreed to a new CBA. He still has three goals and six points but he will be better next season once healthy.
Mar 12 - 8:45 AM

Cam Atkinson's third goal of the year opened the scoring against Detroit and held up as the game winner in a 3-0 victory Saturday.

The Blue Jackets winger has five points and 29 shots in 12 matches. Jack Johnson and Nick Foligno also scored for Columbus in the contest.
Mar 9 - 5:00 PM

Cam Atkinson (ankle) is expected to return to the lineup against the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday night after being activated by Columbus Wednesday.

He has been out of action since Jan. 23 because of a sprain to the upper part of his left ankle. Atkinson hoped to return last week, but his injured ankle proved to be troublesome to get over. "One day I felt great, and then the next day I'd put pressure on it and it would give out," he said. "It's so frustrating. But it's definitely past the point where if I hurt it it's definitely not going to set me back like it would have." He has one goal on 10 shots in three games this season.
Feb 20 - 4:01 PM

Cam Atkinson (ankle) is out Friday, but might return as early as Saturday.

Atkinson has already missed 10 contests due to the injury. He has a goal in three games this season.
Feb 15 - 10:02 AM

Cam Atkinson (ankle) didn't practice Saturday.

He's not expected to play before Columbus' six-game road trip begins on Friday. Defensemen Adrian Aucoin and John Moore are in the same boat, according to coach Todd Richards.
Feb 9 - 5:41 PM

Cam Atkinson (ankle) is hoping to rejoin the Blue Jackets' lineup on Sunday or Monday.

Atkinson was initially projected to miss another two-to-three weeks as of Jan. 30, so he appears to be ahead of schedule. He has a goal in three games this season.
Feb 5 - 12:19 PM

Cam Atkinson has a high-ankle sprain that could force him to sit for another two-to-three more weeks.

This according to the Columbus Dispatch's Aaron Portzline. He was already sidelined, but the extended absence is a tough break for the 2-4-1 Blue Jackets and Atkinson, who had 38 points in the AHL during the lockout and already had a goal in three games with Columbus. He hasn't played since Jan. 23, and is droppable for those in need of a roster spot in deeper leagues.
Jan 30 - 9:05 PM

Cam Atkinson has been placed on the Injured Reserve list after suffering a setback with his lower body injury.

"They’re shutting me down," Atkinson said. "Maybe a week, 10 days." The winger dealt with the same injury during training camp, but it seems to have flared up of late. Atkinson will certainly miss Monday and Tuesday's contests and can be activated as soon as Wednesday, though there's no guarantee he'll be ready to return by that point.
Jan 27 - 10:15 AM

Cam Atkinson (lower body) has suffered a setback.

Atkinson was dealing with a lower body issue last week, but still participated in Columbus' first three games. However, he didn't play on Thursday and will likely be out for at least a week.
Jan 26 - 3:41 PM

Cam Atkinson (lower body) skated by himself on Thursday.

It remains to be seen if he'll be on the ice again on Friday. Consider him day-to-day and questionable for the Blue Jackets' opener.
