Cam Atkinson has agreed to a three-year, $10.5 million contract extension.
Atkinson has 13 goals and 25 points in 58 games in 2014-15. That's a substantial jump from his previous average annual salary of $1.15 million, but that's not surprising given that the 25-year-old has established himself as an important part of the Blue Jackets. He would have been eligible to become a restricted free agent this summer. Mar 2 - 2:57 PM

Feb 27 - 11:14 AM

Cam Atkinson scored his 13th goal of the season Saturday versus the Islanders.

Atkinson has been pretty hot of late with four goals in his last five games and five goals and eight points in nine games. Before that, he had gone 17 games without a goal so Atkinson is worth looking at again in pools. He has 23 points in 50 games but remember what he has done lately.
Feb 15 - 6:54 AM

Cam Atkinson scored a goal and added an assist in Tuesday's 4-3 defeat of the Capitals.

A lot more was expected from Atkinson than he has produced to date, as his goal snaps a 17-game stretch without tickling the twine. The fact he registered five shots on goal on Tuesday might be a sign that he's finding his groove again. Fedor Tyutin also picked up a goal and an assist in the win while Ryan Johansen and Mark Letestu added markers of their own.

Cam Atkinson's assist on Saturday was his first point in 12 games.

Atkinson has also gone 15 games without finding the back of the net so it has been quite a slump for the forward. Atkinson has eight goals and 15 points thus far this season and while he is not a good pickup at this time, he is capable of getting hot for a couple of weeks so keep an eye on him.
Jan 18 - 6:43 AM

Cam Atkinson (upper body) will be back in the Blue Jackets' lineup on Tuesday.

Atkinson has eight goals and 14 points in 33 contests this season. Look for Atkinson to play with Matt Calvert and Brandon Dubinsky. That's bad news for Jeremy Morin, who has been bumped from the second to the third line. The return of Atkinson and Mark Letestu has also prompted Columbus to send Michael Chaput and Adam Cracknell to the minors.

Atkinson has eight goals and 14 points in 33 games in 2014-15. Adam Cracknell has already been put on waivers, so the Blue Jackets have taken steps to free up a roster spot. That being said, Mark Letestu might also return on Tuesday and if both he and Atkinson end up being available, then Alexander Wennberg or Sean Collins could find himself also being sent to the minors.

Cam Atkinson (upper body) participated in practice on Friday but will not play Saturday against the Arizona Coyotes.

Atkinson suffered the injury Sunday and was placed on the injured reserve list so he is not eligible to play until Tuesday. Atkinson expects to play on the current road trip and the Blue Jackets next play in Dallas on Tuesday. He has eight goals and 14 points in 33 games this season.

Sun, Dec 28, 2014 07:49:00 AM

Cam Atkinson notched a goal for the Blue Jackets in their 2-1 win over the Sharks on Saturday night.

Atkinson is proving that last year’s 21-goal, 40-point campaign was no fluke. The high-energy forward is on pace to build off that, with seven goals and 10 points this season. David Savard picked up the other goal. Adam Cracknell, Artem Anisimov, Jack Johnson and Boone Jenner got the assists. We could have a very exciting team in Columbus with a few more healthy bodies.

Cam Atkinson scored a goal for Columbus in a 4-2 loss to the Capitals Tuesday.

The goal snapped a four-game scoring drought for the young sniper and came with four shots on goal, two penalty minutes and a plus-1 rating. He was one of the few bright spots for Columbus in the losing effort. David Savard was the only other scorer for the Blue Jackets on this night.
