Cam Atkinson had a goal and an assist in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Montreal Canadiens.

One night after scoring a hat trick against these same Canadiens, Atkinson was at it again tonight. He picked up the only assist on Brandon Dubinsky's second period goal and his third period marker with under three minutes remaining restored Columbus' two-goal lead. The 26-year-old has 17 goals and 32 points in 50 games this season.

Forward Cam Atkinson picked up a hat trick to spark the Columbus Blue Jackets to a 5-2 slaughter of the visiting Montreal Canadiens Monday night.

Atkinson scored his third goal and 16th of the season with 25 seconds remaining in the game. He previously posted hat tricks April 5, 2012 in Colorado and March 27, 2015 in Chicago. Monday night, he tied the game at 1-1 with a goal at 14:40 of the first period and gave the Blue Jackets a 2-1 lead with his second goal of the night at 2:52 of the second period. Brandon Dubinsky and Boone Jenner drew assists on all three goals. Dubinsky now has 18 assists on the season. Jenner, 13. Brandon Saad had a good night for the Blue Jackets, as well. He picked up his 17th and 18th goals, both in the third period.

Cam Atkinson notched a goal in the Blue Jackets’ 4-3 overtime loss to the Hurricanes on Saturday night.

A subject of trade interest from the Rangers, Atkinson recorded a short-handed marker to begin three a spell of three unanswered goals from Carolina. He has 13 goals and 26 points this season. Alexander Wennberg and Josh Anderson picked up the other goals.

Cam Atkinson has been thriving under new Columbus coach John Tortorella.

Atkinson called his buddy Martin St. Louis when Tortorella was hired and asked about the fiery coach. "I wanted to know what to expect, and I knew Marty would be straight with me," Atkinson said. "He was the first guy who told me, if you work hard, he’s going to love you." Well, Atkinson has been a hard worker and Tortorella has been using him in all situations. Atkinson has 11 goals and 23 points in 38 games and is on pace to set career highs in all offensive categories. Take him in deeper pools.

With a goal and two assists to go along with a block and two hits, it would seem the pieces may finally be forming into place for the talented winger. He now has 10 goals and 21 points in 33 games for Columbus on the season.

John Tortorella believes Cam Atkinson is a perfect fit for what the Jackets want him to do.

"The style of play we want to play I think fits him perfectly," Tortorella told BlueJackets.com. "He gets to pucks – he can get to pucks quicker than some other guys because he’s so quick, he’s not only fast but he’s quick. He’s ‘around it.'" Atkinson has six goals and nine assists this season.

Cam Atkinson scored the overtime winner in Friday's 2-1 victory over Pittsburgh.

The Penguins got on the board first, but the Jackets were able to respond with two goals of their own. Atkinson scored after he was set up by Brandon Dubinsky, who made a great individual effort on the play. Atkinson is currently riding a four-game point streak and has six goals and 15 points in 23 games.

Cam Atkinson found the back of the net in Columbus' 5-3 loss to Vancouver.

It was Atkinson's second goal in his last three games. Overall this season he has four goals and nine points in 15 contests. That puts him on pace for 49 points, which would be a new career-high for him. It's certainly not unrealistic for him to reach that mark though.

Atkinson is expected to provide quality scoring depth for the Blue Jackets, and has boosted his totals to three goals and eight points in 13 games. Not exactly fantasy worthy outside of super deep pools, unfortunately.

Cam Atkinson will be a healthy scratch Tuesday night against the Islanders.

The Blue Jackets will have Alexander Wennberg back from a concussion and Rene Bourque will return from the press box. "It's to give Bourkie a chance," coach Todd Richards said. "We're 0-6. I think (Atkinson) –and there are other people too – that we need more out of. We just need him to be better." Atkinson has one goal and two assists in six games this year.
