Cam Atkinson will be back in the lineup Tuesday night.
Atkinson is projected to play alongside Brandon Dubinsky and Boone Jenner. "It's a wake-up call," said Atkinson after he was a healthy scratch on Saturday. "I take full responsibility. I know I need to be way better, and I will be." He has accounted for a mere six goals and nine points in 25 games this season. Dec 11 - 3:51 PM

Coach John Tortorella has confirmed that Cam Atkinson will be a healthy scratch Saturday against Arizona.

Atkinson was limited to just 9:36 of ice time versus New Jersey on Friday night. He hasn't earned a point in his last six outings. Tyler Motte and Gabriel Carlsson will also be scratched against Arizona.
Dec 9 - 5:50 PM

There's some speculation that Cam Atkinson could be a healthy scratch Saturday night.

Columbus brought up Sonny Milano in the morning and he may take Atkinson's spot in the lineup. Atkinson logged just 9:36 of ice time against New Jersey on Friday night.
Dec 9 - 5:22 PM

Cam Atkinson switched lines with Oliver Bjorkstrand at practice Sunday.

Atkinson was playing alongside Nick Foligno and Sonny Milano while Bjorkstrand saw practice time with Boone Jenner and Brandon Dubinsky. Atkinson scored a couple of goals on Friday and has six goals and nine points, a far cry from the 35 goal, 27 assist season of last year. Keep him on your roster as he is capable of scoring at any time.
Nov 27 - 7:29 AM

Cam Atkinson scored a pair of goals in Friday's 5-2 win over the Ottawa Senators.

He managed to snap an eight-game goalless drought in the process. These were also his first two goals he scored since signing his seven-year contract extension last week. Atkinson's first goal tied the game at one at the 11:22 mark of the first period, while his second tally of the night proved to be the game-winner (it gave the Jackets a 3-2 lead at the time). Atkinson finished the game with a plus-3 rating, two penalty minutes and two shots on goal in 18:20 of ice time. The Blue Jackets forward now has six goals and three assists in 19 games this season. Hopefully for fantasy owners this performance helps turn his year around.
Nov 24 - 9:54 PM

Now that Cam Atkinson has signed a brand new contract with the Blue Jackets, expect him to start playing better.

Atkinson seemed to be distracted with his contract negotiations, which may in part, have led to a terrible start to the season in which he has registered only six points in 15 games. "I hope it will clear his head and get him playing," said Jackets coach John Tortorella. Said Atkinson of the contract: "As much as I would try to block it out, it’s really hard to ... a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders, for sure". Look for the sniper, who scored 35 goals in 2016-17, to get back on track.
Nov 18 - 9:15 AM

Cam Atkinson's newly signed two-year contract includes a no-trade clause.

Atkinson was given a full no-trade clause for the first two years of the deal, but after that it's a limited clause. Keep in mind that his seven-year, $41.125 million extension doesn't begin until 2018-19 so the clock hasn't started on that initial two-year period.
Nov 17 - 1:52 PM

The Columbus Blue Jackets have confirmed that they have signed Cam Atkinson to a seven-year extension.

The contract had been reported Thursday night, but it was suggested that the deal was worth $40.25 million when he actually signed for a little more at $41.125 million. He could have become an unrestricted free agent this summer after completing his current three-year, $10.5 million deal. He set career-highs last season with 35 goals and 62 points, but he's been cold so far in 2017-18 with six points in 15 contests. Perhaps now that the weight of the contract talks are over, he'll start to heat up.

Nov 17 - 1:23 PM

The Columbus Blue Jackets have reportedly agreed to terms on a seven-year, $40.25 million contract with Cam Atkinson.

That works out to a cap hit of $5.75 million, which isn't bad for a guy that had 35 goals and 62 points in 82 games last season. Atkinson is having a tough year this season, as he's only put up four goals and two assists in 15 games. Obviously, the Blue Jackets' front office isn't worried about his slow start. The 28-year-old was in the final year of a contract that pays him $3.5 million per season. Had they not locked him up, he would have become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. Atkinson is a quality hockey player, and Columbus has done well to sign him to a long-term deal.
Nov 16 - 10:03 PM

Cam Atkinson registered an assist in a 2-1 win against Montreal Tuesday night.

That ended Atkinson's point drought at four games. He has four goals and six points in 15 contests, which is pretty disappointing after he set a career-high last season with 62 points. He should pick up the pace, but is unlikely to reach the 60-point milestone in 2017-18.
Nov 15 - 4:34 AM

Cam Atkinson (lower body) has been taken off the injured reserve list.

Atkinson has missed the Blue Jackets' last four games. He should be good to return on Tuesday. He's scored four goals and five points in 11 contests.
Nov 7 - 11:30 AM

Cam Atkinson has been moved to injured reserve by Columbus.

Atkinson remains day-to-day and he is retroactive to Oct. 28. He has missed the last three games with a lower-body injury.
Nov 5 - 4:22 PM

Cam Atkinson won't play in the Blue Jackets' next two games.

Columbus is on the road in Tampa on Saturday and in New York on Monday and Atkinson is not on the trip. The underrated scorer, who is recovering from a hip injury, may be able to play Tuesday against Nashville. Check back with us next week for an update on Atkinson's status.
Nov 4 - 11:37 AM

Cam Atkinson (hip) didn't participate in Tuesday's practice.

There was no update on Atkinson following the skate other than for Blue Jackets coach John Tortorella to reiterate that he's day-to-day. It seems unlikely that Atkinson will be available on Thursday though after missing Tuesday's practice.
Nov 1 - 4:40 AM

Cam Atkinson is day-to-day with a hip injury.

Atkinson wasn't able to play Monday night because of the ailment. He also didn't skate on Tuesday. The Blue Jackets return to action on Thursday at Florida and right now it's unclear if Atkinson will be ready to go by then.
