Brian Gibbons picked up a pair of assists with a plus-3 rating, four blocked shots and a hit in Wednesday's 8-3 win in Vegas.
Gibbons was recently promoted to a top-six forward position with Pavel Zacha (upper body) on the shelf. It was his first points in three games since returning from a six-week absence due to a thumb injury. Everyone was on the scoresheet in Wednesday's rout, so don't get terribly excited about Gibbons. He will need points in at least a couple more games before fantasy owners even in deeper leagues should pay attention to him. Mar 15 - 2:28 AM

With injuries to pivots Pavel Zacha and Travis Zajac, Brian Gibbons will center the Devils' second line against Nashville.

He will skate between Kyle Palmieri and Michael Grabner, while New Jersey's first unit will have Jesper Bratt alongside Taylor Hall and Nico Hischer. That's quite a move for Gibbons, who was playing right wing on the Devils' fourth line before the Zacha and Zajac injuries. You might want to pick up Gibbons for one or two games if you are in a very deep pool.

Brian Gibbons (thumb) was activated from the IL on Thursday March 8.

It was Gibbons' first game since Jan. 20. He had a minus-one rating in 13:52 minutes of ice time in his return.

Brian Gibbons (thumb) took part in Wednesday's practice.

It's not clear when Gibbons might return though. He last played on Jan. 20.
Mar 8 - 8:09 AM

Brian Gibbons is more than a week away from returning to action.

Gibbons has been sidelined for the past month with a right thumb injury and was expected to miss 4-6 weeks. He seems to be right on target with that prognosis.
Feb 24 - 11:53 AM

Brian Gibbons is expected to be sidelined for four-to-six weeks, from when he was injured.

Gibbons sustained the injury on Jan. 20, so he's already been recovering for almost two weeks. In other words, look for him to return in mid-to-late February. He has 12 goals and 23 points in 45 games this season.
Feb 1 - 12:19 PM

Brian Gibbons is not participating in the Devils' practice Sunday.

Gibbons left Saturday night's game with a broken right thumb. He won't be eligible to return until after the All-Star break.
Jan 21 - 12:08 PM

Brian Gibbons left Saturday afternoon's game against the Philadelphia Flyers with a hand injury and did not return.

Gibbons blocked a shot 41 seconds into the second period and never returned to the game. He's had a breakout season with 12 goals and 23 points in 45 games this season and the Devils will be hoping x-rays come back negative seeing as he is a big part of New Jersey's impressive fourth line.
Jan 20 - 4:57 PM

Brian Gibbons scored a goal and registered an assist in a 5-1 win against Los Angeles Tuesday night.

That ended Gibbons' six-game goal scoring skid. He has 12 goals and 18 points in 30 contests this season.

Brian Gibbons hurt his right knee blocking a shot in the third period of Friday night's 2-1 win over Colorado.

Gibbons left the game temporarily, but returned and took a regular shift thereafter. Although he seems to have dodged a bullet, Gibbons will be re-evaluated Saturday to determine if he is OK to play against Arizona.

Brian Gibbons' overtime goal was the winner Saturday.

Believe it or not, Gibbons leads the Devils with 11 goals this season after having five in his career coming into this season. "I think his work ethic and competitiveness have been extremely consistent," coach John Hynes said. "That really was what was missing from his game. When you watch him play every night now, you notice his speed, you notice his compete, you notice his hockey sense and instincts but that’s because his work ethic has been very consistent. You’re seeing a guy that had all the talent to play in the NHL, with hockey sense, speed, determination and skill. But he wasn’t consistent enough to put the package together. Now he’s mature. I think he clearly understands what he needs to do to play and he’s been very consistent in his play and that’s been the big difference."

Brian Gibbons found the back of the net in Wednesday's 3-2 shootout loss to the Boston Bruins.

The Devils were down 2-0 in the first period, but they managed to come back thanks to goals by Jesper Bratt (power play) and Gibbons. They eventually lost in the 11th round of the shootout though. Believe it or not, Gibbons now has 10 goals and four assists in 21 games. He's on pace to score 39 goals this year, but that won't happen. Still, he remains a nice story.

With his sixth goal of the campaign Friday night, Brian Gibbons has scored more goals in 12 games this season than he had in his entire NHL career.

That's right. Going into this season Gibbons had scored five goals in 66 NHL contests. He's obliterated that total in just a dozen games. That said, we think this is just a blip on the radar and Gibbons will turn into a pumpkin very shortly.

Brian Gibbons scored again on Saturday and leads the New Jersey Devils in goals with five.

Two goals have come shorthanded as Gibbons has been a very pleasant surprise thus far. He played for the Rangers farm club last season and was in camp on a professional tryout before making the team. We don't think he has much fantasy value but we thought that at the beginning of the season and look what he has done so far.

Brian Gibbons found the back of the net in the Devils' 6-3 win over Toronto on Wednesday.

Gibbons managed to score on a five-on-three shorthanded situation, which makes him the first player in the Devils' franchise history to do so. That marker really was critical as the Devils entered that shorthanded situation with just a 3-2 lead and Gibbons scored early in the penalty kill to stifle the Leafs' opportunity to build some momentum. Gibbons now has two goals and three points in three games this season.
