Zach Redmond is expected to practice on Sunday for the first time since suffering a serious cut to his leg in February.

"No restrictions at all," said Redmond, who resumed skating last week. "I probably have to go through a week of practice before I'm cleared for game stuff. We'll see. The coaches, a lot of it is in their hands, whether they think I'm fit to play or whatever. But it's a good first step."

Zach Redmond returned to the ice Friday six weeks after suffering a life-threatening cut to the leg.

Redmond skated for the first time after suffering a lacerated femoral artery during a practice in late February. "Just seeing him definitely took your mind off of what was going on, first and foremost," Andrew Ladd said. "To see him back and doing so well is awesome for everyone in this room. It took our mind away from things going on, and all the negativity, and you just focus on how well he's doing and having him around again."

Doctors say Zach Remond (leg) should make a full recovery, which they called "a miracle."

Redmond's leg was sliced open during a morning skate in February and the cut was so bad he was rushed to the hospital and needed a three-hour surgery. Incredibly, he is expected to be ready for training camp if not sooner.

Jets org is made up of nothing but great people. Feeling better every day now. Thanks for all the support." He severed his femoral artery, and lost a lot of blood in practice in Carolina. Redmond is recovering back home in Michigan and isn't expected to play again this season.

Zach Redmond (leg) isn't expected to play again this season.

Redmond had surgery after a teammate accidentally cut him with his skate during Thursday's practice. "We were trying to get our extra players conditioned, and there was a 1-on-1 battle at the net where he tripped up and landed on his back," Jets coach Claude Noel said. "[Another] player happened to step on him and cut him just above the back of the knee." Redmond had four points in eight games in 2013 as a rookie.

Zach Redmond had surgery after the back of his leg was gashed by a teammate's skate at practice Thursday morning.

The injury occurred during a battle drill in front of the net when the player he was competing with accidentally stepped on him and cut him just above the back of the knee. "He lost a fair bit of blood and he's in some pain," said coach Claude Noel. "It looks like it's a vein. It cut him through the sock... I don't know if it cut through the pant, but there was a fair amount of a loss of blood there quickly and we got it tied up and put pressure on it. He'll be fine."

Zach Redmond scored his first NHL goal Thursday night in his fourth NHL game.

It came short-handed in the second period. The defenseman has three points and six penalty minutes on the year and has decent upside from the position. "Awesome. It’s always a great thing to get out of the way and always something you dream of," said Redmond. "I never thought it would come on the PK (penalty kill), but I’m definitely happy to get the monkey off my back."

Zach Redmond collected two assists in Tuesday's overtime victory over Florida.

The helpers represented the first points of his NHL career in his third appearance with the Jets. Redmond is getting a chance to play with Dustin Byfuglien on the sidelines and the fact that he's starting to produce is a good sign for Winnipeg. The 24-year-old blueliner has averaged 20:40 of ice time per match since getting into the lineup.
Feb 6 - 9:43 AM

Zach Redmond is under the impression that he'll be in the lineup on Thursday, but it's unclear if he's playing because of Dustin Byfuglien's questionable status.

"Yeah, I just assume so," said Redmond when asked if he would be getting the chance to play in his first NHL contest. "According to the board I'm in the lineup. I'm definitely really excited, been waiting for it and can't wait." Coach Claude Noel wouldn't clarify his team's lineup following the morning skate.
Jan 31 - 3:45 PM

Zach Redmond is going to make every minute count in hopes of landing a spot on the Jets' opening night roster.

Zach Bogosian is still out while recovering from wrist surgery, so defensemen Paul Postma and Redmond have an increased chance to crack the lineup. "How do I make a favourable impression? It's pretty simple, to be honest," said Redmond. "You've got to show up every day, be positive and work as hard as you possibly can on the ice and in the weight room or wherever it may be that they need you. You have to make an impression that you want to be here and nowhere else. They always have eyes on you. We know that. It's about staying calm and composed and knowing what your job is."
