Look for Brad Malone to see a lot of action in the AHL.
Malone will provide depth for the Capitals but is likely to start the season(barring any injuries) in the minors as he is Washington's 14th or 15th forward on the depth charts. He had two goals and six points in 57 games with Carolina last season and led the team with 75 minutes in the sin bin. He has no real fantasy value in Washington. Jul 3 - 9:44 AM

Brad Malone won't be suspended for his blindside hit on Nick Foligno.

The NHL's Department of Player Safety decided that Malone's hit wasn't illegal. Here's the league's explanation of the hit: "while this hit is forceful and delivered from the blindside, this hit doesn't violate any NHL rule. The hit is delivered immediately after Foligno moves the puck, well within the acceptable time frame to deliver a body check. Malone also keeps his elbow tucked and his skates on the ice in delivering this hit."
