Date:

Justin Faulk will not play Monday night due to an upper-body injury.

Faulk did not take part in the morning skate and should be considered day-to-day. "He's played through it a little bit," coach Bill Peters said. "It's going to be hit and miss." Roland McKeown was recalled from AHL Charlotte on Sunday to serve as a replacement.
Apr 2 - 12:13 PM

Justin Faulk (undisclosed) will play in Friday's game against the Washington Capitals.

The injury has kept him out of Carolina's last three games. He'll be on a pairing with Jaccob Slavin. Faulk has seven goals and 23 assists in 74 games this season.
Mar 30 - 6:51 PM

Justin Faulk won't suit up tonight against the Ottawa Senators due to an undisclosed injury.

Faulk reportedly got bruised up a bit on Thursday night and the Hurricanes will take no risks with their top blueliner. Noah Hanifin will draw into the lineup in his place.
Mar 24 - 5:25 PM

Justin Faulk had a pair of assists in a 6-4 loss to Boston Tuesday night.

Faulk has seven goals and 29 points in 70 contests this season. He's poised to reach the 30-point milestone for the fifth straight campaign. He'll probably finish below his 2016-17 total of 37 points though.
Mar 14 - 9:14 AM

Justin Faulk is just the 10th defenseman in NHL history to record a natural hat trick.

"That’s pretty cool," Faulk said "To be honest I didn’t know that stat." As previously noted, Faulk's hat trick came in a 7-3 win over Los Angeles Tuesday night. He recorded his first two goals in the first period and completed the hat trick in the second frame. He hadn't previously gotten a hat trick in the NHL and when asked when he last got one at any level, he ventured a guess that it would have been back in his pee-wee hockey days.
Feb 14 - 5:15 AM

Justin Faulk scored a natural hat trick in a 7-3 win over the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday night.

Faulk scored his first ever hat trick for the Hurricanes on Tuesday. Goals have been hard to come by for him in 2017-18, as he now has seven on the year. Faulk currently has 22 points through 57 contests. Carolina also got goals from Jaccob Slavin, Jeff Skinner, and Sebastian Aho.
Feb 13 - 10:17 PM

Justin Faulk extended his point streak to three games.

Faulk kept the run going by registering an assist Wednesday night. He's up to three goals and 11 points in 36 contests this season. That's still a discouraging total after he surpassed the 30-point milestone in each of his previous four campaigns, but perhaps we're seeing him turn a corner offensively.

Justin Faulk scored a pair of even-strength goals, including the game-winning tally, in Saturday's 4-2 victory against the Sabres.

Faulk was a handful for the Sabres, and he entered the game with just one goal and eight points through his first 34 outings. He now has two goals and three points over the past two outings. Perhaps this performance will finally jump-start his offense, as he has proven to be a valuable rearguard for his goals and assists in the past.

With his assist against the Predators Thursday night, Justin Faulk became the third Hurricane defenseman in franchise history to record 200 career points.

Faulk is not having a very good season (eight points in 34 games) but 200 points is a nice milestone for a blueline to reach. He also becomes just the second rearguard from the 2010 NHL draft class to reach that mark. Cam Fowler of the Ducks is the other.

Justin Faulk has been limited to a goal and seven points in 33 games this season.

By contrast, Faulk has scored at least 15 goals and 37 points in each of his previous three campaigns. Faulk hasn't been happy with his play, but he's trying to keep it in context. "It happens," Faulk said. "I’ve been through it before, although maybe it wasn’t as noticeable because it wasn’t at the beginning of the year. Two years ago I had 12 goals in the first 35 games and finished with 16. I’ve been in situations somewhat like this before, although maybe not as much overall." His statistics were slightly off as he had 14 goals through 36 games in 2015-16 and then just two goals in his last 28 contests, but his point is well taken. He's endured prolonged droughts like this in the past and it's evened out when you look at his season as a whole. Perhaps we'll see the reverse of 2015-16 this time around, where he starts slow and then heats up in the second half. The one encouraging statistic is his 90 SOG in 33 contests.

Justin Faulk had two power play assists on Sunday.

The defenseman has been a power play specialist for a few seasons and Sunday was no exception, getting helpers on goals by Teuvo Teravainen and Sebastian Aho. Faulk has been having a bad time of things entering the game as he had only a goal and three points in 18 contests so perhaps this will get him going.
Mon, Nov 20, 2017 06:04:00 AM

Justin Faulk is expected to play Monday night even though he left the morning skate early.

The reason for his departure was not given. Faulk has struggled offensively this season with one goal and only three points in 15 games.

Justin Faulk scored his first of the season Sunday.

Faulk picked up a pair of assists on October 17 but outside of that, the goal was only his third point of the season in 10 games. He scores in bunches so perhaps this is the start of a streak.
Mon, Oct 30, 2017 07:18:00 AM

Justin Faulk picked up a pair of assists with a blocked shots, two hits and a pair of minor penalties.

Like most of the Hurricanes who had breakout performances in this one, Faulk was scoreless over the first three games. He has tailed off with 37 points in each of the past two campaigns, a drop since his career-high 49 points back in 2014-15. While his assist numbers have gone down, he has set career highs in goals over each of the past two campaigns. He is one of the more productive rearguards for goals.
