Justin Faulk wishes he had been selected as part of Team USA.

Faulk represented America in the 2014 Olympics, but was a surprise omission from their World Cup roster. "Obviously I’d want to be there, and I think I could help the team," Faulk said. "I think I’m a good enough player where I could play in that. But they went in a different direction. That’s their decision, and you have to respect it. I want to be there, and I wish I was. But I’ll just watch it and focus on what’s going on here and get to have a full training camp with the guys and get ready for the season." Faulk had 16 goals and 37 points in 64 games last season. He did finish with a minus-22 rating though, which was tied for the worst on the Hurricanes.

Justin Faulk (lower body) realizes that with the benefit of hindsight, he probably shouldn't have attempted to return on Feb. 23.

At that point, Faulk had been sidelined for roughly two weeks and he hasn't played since logging 16:51 minutes in his Feb. 23 attempt to rejoin the squad. He only resumed practicing on Monday while wearing a no-contact jersey. "At that point I think we were four points out (of playoff position)," Faulk explained. "Games are important at that point and I tried playing through it and things didn’t go as well as I wanted in that game and the next practice, too. It just didn’t look right and we took a look at it again and decided I should take some time off and let it heal."
