Curtis Hamilton has been seeing some action on the top line with Jordan Eberle and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins during training camp.
Hamilton was a second round selection, 48th overall in 2010 but training camp has been his bane as he was unable to show a lot during the 2013 lockout with its shortened camp and he missed all of last year's camp as he was recovering from off-season knee surgery. "Just getting the opportunity to play is huge," said Hamilton, who is fighting Jesse Joensuu, Kevin Westgarth and Ilro Parkarinen for the one remaining spot on the wing. "I understand there’s basically one spot open, and we’re all gunning for it. Ultimately, they may only keep one or two guys, so you really just have to make a good impression every day. As the year went on last year, I think it was the most comfortable I've been playing pro hockey. Later on, I got injured again, but I came back in time to play some playoff games, so coming into this camp, I’m more comfortable with the speed and pace and strength."
