Justin Fontaine will get $600,000 when in the NHL and $300,000 while in the minors.
Fontaine signed a one-year/two-way deal and was immediately put on waivers for the purpose of sending him to the minors. The $300,000 minor league deal was meant to discourage teams from claiming him. Fontaine will be a depth forward with the Rangers as he will be used in case of injuries. He has no fantasy value. The New York Rangers have signed Justin Fontaine to a two-way deal, and have placed him on waivers with the purpose of having him go to AHL Hartford.

Well, this one's out of left field. There hadn't been word that Fontaine was released from his PTO with Dallas, so it's surprising to see him pop up with New York. No details on the contract have been released yet. The 28-year-old winger has posted just 68 points in 197 career games, all with Minnesota over the last three seasons. He does not offer any fantasy value.

Justin Fontaine has accepted a PTO with the Dallas Stars.

Fontaine initially attended the Florida Panthers' training camp on a tryout basis, but he was released from it last week. He had five goals and 16 points in 60 contests with the Minnesota Wild last season.
Oct 6 - 2:26 PM

The Florida Panthers released Justin Fontaine from his professional tryout.

Fontaine didn't really stand a chance of cracking Florida's deep roster, which doesn't make the cut very surprising. He'll likely have to sign another PTO elsewhere, start the season on someone's farm team or even head to Europe. Either way, he has no fantasy upside.

Justin Fontaine, Christian Folin, and Niklas Backstrom will each be scratched against the Islanders on Tuesday night.

Of the three, only Fontaine has accumulated even a modicum of value this season. Through 31 games he has nine points and 14 PIMs, but just 23 shots on goal and little else to his credit.
Feb 2 - 6:28 PM

Justin Fontaine will be scratched against the Kings on Thursday.

It's been another lite season for Fontaine, who has but nine points and not much else through 30 games this season. The 28-year-old has not proven to be much of a fantasy asset during his brief career.
Jan 21 - 10:10 PM

Justin Fontaine is a healthy scratch in Thursday's game against the Flyers.

The 28-year-old has two goals and nine points in 24 games this season. Nate Prosser will also be a healthy scratch for the Wild. He has no goals and two assists in 31 games.
Jan 7 - 8:07 PM

Jan 1 - 9:22 AM

The Minnesota Wild have scratched forward Justin Fontaine and goaltender Niklas Backstrom.

"He has shown signs of it from game to game," Yeo said. "It's just a matter of making sure that the consistency is there night after night (and) shift after shift. That's what he has to discover in his game." Fontaine will sit as a healthy scratch for the first time this season.
