Patrik Nemeth won't play Friday against Ottawa because of an undisclosed injury.

Nemeth was born in Stockholm, so it's a shame that he will miss the first of two games against the Senators in Sweden. He hasn't been ruled out yet for Saturday's contest.

Nemeth has missed two of the last three games due to injury. He has three assists and a plus-7 rating in seven contests with Colorado this season. Based on Thursday's skate it seems as though Andrei Mironov and Nikita Zadorov will be scratched.

Nemeth was hurt Thursday and initially it appeared as though he wouldn't miss any time, but he left Monday's practice early and now he isn't projected to play against Dallas.

Nemeth just returned to the lineup against St. Louis from a one-game absence due to a shoulder injury. He logged 18:09 of ice time versus the Blues. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Nemeth returned to practice Wednesday and feels ready to play after he was injured last Saturday. He only missed Tuesday's contest with a shoulder ailment. Look for him to skate alongside Tyson Barrie again.

Nemeth was hurt in a fight against former Dallas teammate Tyler Seguin on Saturday night. "I'm unsure on exactly how long he's going to be out and what his prognosis is," coach Jared Bednar said. Nemeth will be evaluated further when he gets back to Denver.

Patrik Nemeth took part in Wednesday's practice with the Avalanche after he was claimed off waivers Tuesday from Dallas.

Nemeth is projected to start alongside Tyson Barrie when the regular season begins Thursday night. "I think I have a good opportunity here to prove myself," Nemeth said. "I feel I'm ready to prove myself, and I'm going to do everything in my power to do that and embrace the role that they give me."

Colorado has claimed Patrik Nemeth off waivers from Dallas.

He was waived by the Stars on Monday. Nemeth played in a personal high 40 games last season. Colorado isn't deep on the back end, so he should get a chance to play much more regularly in 2017-18.
