Martin Marincin has been called up from the minors.

Marincin played in 44 games with Edmonton in 2013-14, but he didn't make the team's opening game roster because he "came out slowly." Given how bad the Oilers have been so far though, it's not surprising to see them shake things up.
Oct 17 - 5:05 AM

Martin Marincin didn't survive the Oilers' final roster cut.

Marincin had six assists in 44 games with Edmonton as a rookie in 2013-14. "I thought Marty played very well last year, and we thought about that, but the makeup of our D is we're looking in that spot for more battle, more heaviness," said Oilers coach Dallas Eakins. "And Marty was one of the guys who came out slowly. It wasn't just one or two, it was two or three guys who outplayed him throughout camp." Marincin is still just 22 years old, so this probably isn't the last we'll hear of him.
Oct 6 - 5:52 AM

Martin Marincin's strong rookie campaign is looking like one of the silver linings in Edmonton's disappointing season.

The Oilers have trusted Marincin with an average of 18:35 minutes per game and he leads the worst team in the Western Conference with a plus-two rating. He hasn't done much offensively and consequently isn't worth keeping an eye on in standard leagues, but he might prove to be a reliable defenseman with the Oilers for years to come.
Mar 27 - 9:00 AM

Coach Dallas Eakins hopes that defenseman Martin Marincin learns a lot at the Olympics from his Slovak teammate Zdeno Chara.

Chara met with Marincin after Saturday's Boston-Edmonton game. "It was great for me to meet him," Marincin said. "He's a big guy for me, I really liked him growing up. We just talked about Sochi and how the season was going. I had never met him before, so that was exciting. Being on a team with Zdeno Chara will be great for me. I will try to learn from him and hopefully it will help me." Marincin will turn 22 during the Sochi games and has only one assist and a plus-one rating in 19 games since his recall in December but he does have some offensive upside.
Feb 3 - 7:03 AM

Martin Marincin was brought up from the minors Thursday evening.

He made his NHL debut earlier this month and skated in two games with the Oilers during his previous call-up.

Coach Dallas Eakins was quite impressed with the play of Martin Marincin in his NHL debut Thursday.

"I thought he was solid back there." Eakins said. "That's all you want, not only of a guy playing his first game, but every night from your defensemen. Play solid, play simple and he did that." The second round pick in the 2010 Draft was plus-one with a minor penalty in 15:25 minutes of action.

Martin Marincin has been called up by the Edmonton Oilers.

Marincin has two goals and six points in 20 games this season. Those numbers obviously aren't going to make you scramble to get him, and if you're in a standard league that instinct is definitely correct. Still, he is worth keeping an eye on as he does have the potential to develop into a defenseman that puts up fantasy-worthy offensive numbers.

Martin Marincin has inked a three-year, entry-level deal with the Edmonton Oilers.

Edmonton selected Marincin with the 46th overall pick in the 2010 NHL entry draft. Marincin netted 14 goals and registered 42 assists in 67 WHL contests this season.
