The Edmonton Oilers have placed Viktor Fasth (knee) on the injured reserve list.
Fasth was hurt during Monday's contest, but the Oilers didn't practice on Tuesday or provide an update on his status. However, the team's website now lists him as being on the reserve, so it looks like he won't be available for Edmonton's next three games. They also activated Ben Scrivens. Feb 18 - 5:33 AM

Viktor Fasth left Monday's game against Winnipeg after injuring his knee during a save attempt in the shootout.

The severity of Fasth's injury wasn't immediately clear. Richard Bachman replaced him for the remainder of the shootout. Fasth stopped 42 of 46 shots in regulation before he was hurt.
Feb 17 - 10:55 AM

Edmonton goalie Viktor Fasth had a strong game and made 42 saves but he and the Oilers took a 5-4 shootout loss in Winnipeg Monday night.

Fasth`s record is 6-15-3. His goals-against average is 3.41 and his save percentage is .888. Fasth was good in Winnipeg but he`s not a good option as a fantasy goalie, not with a team as poor as the Oilers.
Feb 16 - 11:44 PM

Viktor Fasth will be in goal for Edmonton as they take on the Winnipeg Jets on Monday.

The 32-year-old has a 6-15-2 record with a 3.40 goals-against-average and an .887 save percentage. You should look elsewhere for a starting fantasy goaltender.
Feb 16 - 5:53 PM

Viktor Fasth was yanked from Friday's 7-2 loss to Ottawa after being beaten for three soft goals on 15 shots over 20:41 of play.

Sure, one softy can beat you at any time. It happens. But three is unacceptable, and Coach Nelson wasted no time sending in Richard Bachman just 41 seconds into the second period. Fasth was saddled with the loss and his record falls to 6-15-2 with 72 goals against in 25 games this season.
Feb 14 - 5:31 PM

Viktor Fasth is expected to get the start on Valentine's Day against the Ottawa Senators.

Fasth has been doing his best to hold down Edmonton's fort with primary netminder Ben Scrivens out, but it hasn't gone as well as hoped. He's won just two of his five February starts with 17 goals against. Ouch. For the season, Fasth has a 6-14-2 record with 69 goals against in 24 games thus far.

Feb 14 - 12:14 PM

Viktor Fasth earned his sixth victory of the season by making 23 stops in Thursday's overtime victory against Montreal.

The Oilers won 4-3 by virtue of a late tying goal in regulation. Fasth got his first win in three tries to raise his record to 614-2 with an .889 save percentage and 3.31 goals against average.
Feb 12 - 10:50 PM

Viktor Fasth will get the start against the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday night.

Fasth comes in with a 5-14-2 record with 66 goals against in 22 games thus far, but he's never faced Montreal before and they have backup Dustin Tokarski playing. Meaning Fasth could be in line to steal a game. Edmonton still sits four points greater than last place Buffalo, but the 32 year old Fasth is playing for pride.
Feb 12 - 5:29 PM

Viktor Fasth allowed three goals on 26 shots in a 3-2 loss to the Islanders on Tuesday night.

With Ben Scrivens nursing an undisclosed injury, Fasth was given the call against the Isles, but he was handed his third straight defeat in the process. His 5-14-2 record is accompanied by a 3.33 GAA and an .889 save percentage.
Feb 10 - 10:37 PM

Viktor Fasth will get the nod on Tuesday.

Ben Scrivens has an undisclosed injury, so he wasn't an option for the Oilers' upcoming game. Fasth has a 3.34 GAA and .899 save percentage in 22 games this season.
Feb 10 - 12:22 PM

Viktor Fasth yielded five goals on 28 shots in Edmontons’ 5-1 loss to Toronto on Saturday night.

Fasth was brought in to be a 1B goalie behind Ben Scrivens, and he’s been anything but. Fasth gave up three goals in the second and two more in the third. He has a 3.34 goals-against average and .889 save percentage this season. Suffice to say, he is not worth owning in any league.
Feb 7 - 10:35 PM

The Edmonton Oilers continue to roll with Viktor Fasth in net as they face the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday.

Fasth stopped 24 out of 26 shots in a loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Feb. 4, but it seems like he's generally instilling more confidence in his teammates than Ben Scrivens lately.
Feb 7 - 1:59 PM

The Edmonton Oilers have been getting better goaltending as their defense has been much better of late.

The Oilers seem to have improved defensively since Dallas Eakins was replaced by Todd Nelson behind the bench. "I think we’re better at keeping them on the outside and protecting our net than we were at the beginning of the season," goaltender Viktor Fasth said. Fasth is 5-12-2 this season with all five wins coming on the road. His counterpart in net, Ben Scrivens has won all his games at home. It seems like a no-brainer to start Fasth in Toronto but we think it will be Scrivens against his old Leaf teammates.
Feb 7 - 7:35 AM

Oilers goalie Viktor Fasth turned in a solid game Wednesday night, steering aside 24 shots.

But he allowed two goals, more than enough for the Pittsburgh Penguins to register a victory in Edmonton. Final score: Pittsburgh 2, Edmonton 0. The Oilers, simply, aren't a very good team and weren't good enough to support Fasth with much offense Wednesday. The loss gives Fasth an unimpressive season record of 5-12-2. His goals-against average is 3.25 and his save percentage, .892. Fasth showed spurts of excellence Wednesday but, no, he's not worth obtaining in fantasy leagues, not as the backup goalie (to Ben Scrivens) with the woebegone Oilers.
Feb 4 - 11:18 PM

Viktor Fasth will be in goal for Edmonton again on Wednesday night.

He made 33 stops in Monday's 5-4 shootout win over San Jose, so he'll get another start. He has also won three of his past four outings. Fasth owns a 5-11-2 record to go with an .891 save percentage and a 3.31 goals-against average.
