Keep an eye on the Sabres' Johan Larsson.

He is getting the chance to play on a line with wunderkid Jack Eichel. Larsson hasn't accomlished much in the NHL to date (three points this season and 16 in 39 games last season) but Buffalo coach Dam Bylsma likes the way the former Swedish Elite League star is meshing with Eichel. "Four games ago when" Larson "got the opportunity to play there I think it’s been his best hockey to this point," Bylsma said. "He’s played a little more tenacious. He’s played a little more with an edge. You’ve seen his skating ability and that’s been pretty consistent alongside of Jack there." Keep an eye on Larsson. He may be worth a pickup in very deep pools.

Johan Larsson took Evander Kane's spot on the second power-play unit during Tuesday's skate.

Kane has an MCL injury so Larsson is projected to join Jack Eichel, Jamie McGinn, Brian Gionta and Rasmus Ristolainen. Coach Dan Bylsma thinks Larsson will fit in nicely because of his "patience and skill with the puck" and his "heavy shot."

He was a healthy scratch this past Saturday versus Tampa Bay. Larsson will replace David Legwand as the center of the fourth line.

Johan Larsson and Carlo Colaiacovo will be healthy scratches against the Lightning on Saturday.

Fun fact, there's exactly 172 career points and little else between Larsson and Colaiacovo. Suffice it to say, even if they were in the lineup they wouldn't be advisable pick ups.

He contributed five goals and 13 points in the final 17 games of the 2014-15 campaign after he was promoted to a top-six role. Larsson wouldn't be playing with Matt Moulson or Tyler Ennis if he stuck with the Sabres, but that opportunity has done wonders for his confidence and he has impressed coach Dan Bylsma at training camp.
