Anders Nilsson made an impression on Saturday by posting a 25-save shutout against Minnesota.
Nilsson did allow a goal in the 3-on-3 overtime period that followed, but that technically wasn't part of the preseason contest as Edmonton had already won 3-0 and the extra period was just to practice the new format. "I thought Anders played well," said Oilers head coach Todd McLellan. "Real early in the game, right off the bat, there were some strange bounces and he was tested right away. He was prepared and ready to play. Then as the game wore on, and after we got up 2-0 and 3-0, they had a couple of more chances and he had to make some good saves as well. He looked big, looked confident, didn’t give up much in the net. When he was out of his crease playing pucks, he did a good job as well." He shouldn't be overlooked in the battle with Ben Scrivens for the backup job. Sep 28 - 6:18 AM
