Edmonton goalie Anders Nilsson, who allowed no more than a goal in each of his past two games, wasn't as fortunate Wednesday night.
Nilsson and the Oilers were defeated 4-1 by the Hurricanes in Carolina. Nilsson's goals-against average took a hit. It is now at 2.85. His save percentage is at .906. On Tuesday, Edmonton coach Todd McLellan was quoted as saying: "Anders looks to be getting better every night." Nov 26 - 12:01 AM

Nov 25 - 1:30 PM

Although Edmonton fell to Washington in overtime Monday night, Anders Nilsson provided Edmonton with a silver lining.

Nilsson turned aside 29 of 30 shots to hold the competition to a single goal for the second straight game. "Anders looks to be getting better every night," Oilers head coach Todd McLellan said. "He looks to be confident right now. You get a sense around the team that they feel good when he’s in net and they feel good about him and that’s a real positive sign." Nilsson has a 2.83 GAA and .908 save percentage in 10 contests. It wouldn't be surprising if he's back between the pipes on Wednesday against Carolina.
Nov 24 - 5:47 AM

Edmonton goalie Anders Nilsson turned away all but one of the 30 shots he faced in the Oilers' 1-0 loss to the Capitals in Washington Monday night.

Nilsson appears to be the Oilers' first-string goalie these days and he did nothing Monday to change his status. He is 4-5-1 on the season and improved his goals-against average Monday to 2.83 and his save percentage to .908. Nilsson deserved a better fate but his teammates couldn't get any of their 33 shots past Washington goalie Braden Holtby.
Nov 23 - 10:49 PM

Anders Nilsson will be back between the pipes on Monday versus Washington.

Nilsson, who has been seeing the majority of Edmonton's starts lately, has a 4-4-1 record with a .901 save percentage and a 3.04 goals-against average this campaign.
Nov 23 - 3:24 PM

Anders Nilsson is becoming the Oilers number one goaltender.

Nilsson has started six of Edmonton's last eight games and has relegated Cam Talbot to the bench of late. He is 3-2-1 since the start of November with a 2.67 GAA and a .900 save percentage. He is becoming a good second goalie in deeper pools.
Nov 21 - 7:09 AM

Anders Nilsson out-dueled Keith Kinkaid in Edmonton's 5-1 win over New Jersey on Friday night.

Nilsson was asked to come up big in the second period with 12 shots against, and the only goal, but on the night he only saw 20 pucks. The win brings his record up to 4-4-1 with 26 goals against.
Nov 21 - 12:19 AM

Anders Nilsson will be Edmonton's starter on Friday.

Nilsson will be making his fourth start in five games. He has a 3.30 GAA and .897 save percentage in eight contests this season.
Nov 20 - 2:12 PM

Anders Nilsson made 23 saves on 27 shots in the Oilers' 4-3 overtime loss to Chicago on Wednesday.

While the numbers don't look great, he gave his team a chance to win this game against a very good Blackhawks squad. Nilsson is 3-4-1 with a 3.30 goals-against-average and .897 save percentage in eight appearances. He is in a time share with Cam Talbot at the moment and the Oilers are just hoping one of the goalies takes the reigns on the number one job.
Nov 19 - 1:34 AM

Anders Nilsson will be in net against Chicago on Wednesday.

Nilsson owns a 3-4-0 record with 21 goals against and a paltry .902 save percentage in seven games so far this season, which shouldn't inspire much confidence against the defending Cup champions.
Nov 17 - 8:07 PM

Anders Nilsson made just 17 saves in Thursday's 4-1 defeat to the Coyotes.

This is the third time in five starts in which Nilsson has been beaten at least three times, and the second straight. And it's not a shot volume thing, as he's seen 30+ shots just twice in that span. Now with a 3-4-0 record with 21 goals against and a .902 save percentage, Nilsson too may not be the answer in net the Oilers are seeking.
Nov 13 - 12:27 AM

Anders Nilsson will start again on Thursday.

It will be Nilsson's second game in as many days. He's being rewarded for turning aside 34 of 37 shots in a 4-3 overtime win over Anaheim Wednesday night.
Nov 12 - 1:40 PM

Anders Nilsson made 34 saves in Edmonton's 4-3 overtime win over Anaheim on Wednesday.

Nilsson was making his third start in the last four games for the club, giving them a chance to win despite coming from behind most of the night. It was the Oilers first win in Anaheim since 2012 so there's that too. The 25 year-old is 3-3-0 with a 3.06 goals-against-average to go with a .912 save percentage in six appearances.
Nov 12 - 1:28 AM

Anders Nilsson is expected to start on Wednesday.

Nilsson will be playing between the pipes for the third time in four games. He has a 3.10 GAA and .911 save percentage in five contests this season.
Nov 11 - 3:15 PM

Anders Nilsson drew the short straw in a tough 2-1 loss to Pittsburgh.

Nilsson played admirably, turning away 31 of 33 shots including seven of eight on the kill. He's now allowed two goals or fewer in three of his last five starts, with another at three goals. Not too shabby, though his record is now 2-3-0 with 14 goals against in five starts.
