Freddie Hamilton was a healthy scratch Wednesday.

After seeing some first line duty when Brent Burns was sidelined, Hamilton found himself in the press box Wednesday. He was minus-one in four NHL games before last night. Burns is still out of action but Martin Havlat returned to action for the first time and Hamilton was the odd man out.

Coach Todd McLellan was pleased with the play of Freddie Hamilton Saturday.

Hamilton saw some action on the second unit power play Sunday. "Freddie played a good two-way game," McLellan said. "He has come a long way in his one year as a pro. He's very reliable defensively, and you don't see that in a lot of 20-year olds." Hamilton had 13 goals and 26 points in 76 games with Worcester of the AHL last season. The 21-year-old could break training camp with the Sharks but it is more likely that he returns for another season in the AHL.
