He'll try to help the Sabres' minor-league qualify for the postseason rather than play in meaningless games at the NHL level. Apr 1 - 7:48 AM

Nicolas Deslauriers, who was acquired in the Brayden McNabb deal Wednesday, played well in Buffalo's 2-0 loss to Florida Friday night.

The 23-year-old converted defenseman was called up on an emergencey basis and took four shots on goal and registered four hits in 15:08 of playing time. Buffalo coach Ted Nolan likes Deslauriers' game. "He's a big body, sadi Nolan. "I've watched him play with my son in Manchester. I like the way he plays. He plays with a little spirt and jam and that's exactly what this organization needs." In fact, Nolan played Deslauriers on the left point of the team's second power-play unit Friday night. That said, Deslauriers will likely not be a fantasy asset this season. We do like his chances of being a light version of Antoine Roussel in 2015, though.
