Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Benoit Pouliot each registered two points in the Oilers’ 3-2 preseason, overtime loss to the Canucks on Saturday.
Both picked up a goal and an assist. RNH has posted back-to-back 56-point seasons, but we think the 22-year-old has a good chance to surpass the 60-point mark in 2015-16, especially on team that's becoming very skilled. Teddy Purcell recorded two helpers. Cam Talbot sticked aside 24 shots. Oct 4 - 12:40 AM

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins assisted on two goals for Edmonton in the Oilers' 3-2 win over Winnipeg.

RNH assisted on Jordan Eberle and Justin Schultz's goals to go with two hits in a productive preseason game. The 22 year-old finished last season strong and will look to improve on a campaign where he hit a career high with 24 goals. There is a lot of skill on this Edmonton team and we will see if new head coach Todd McLellan can nurture this lineup into some career high point totals.
Sep 23 - 11:57 PM

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins was hit in the face with a puck Saturday but it appears he avoided a serious injury.

RNH left practice and wasn’t available to talk to the media. "No lacerations but a nice welt and we just kept him out for the rest of the day and we will see how he is in the morning but we don't anticipate any issues," Oilers coach Todd McLellan said. Nugent-Hopkins had 24 goals and 56 points last season.
Sep 19 - 10:49 PM

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins feels he is becoming a much more balanced player.

"I think I was better at finding the balance between the offensive side and the defensive side (last season). If you worry too much about one or the other, it hurts the other one," he said. "If you play more solid at both ends of the rink it creates more offense for everyone, and I started to find that last year." Nugent-Hopkins is expected to be paired with Jordan Eberle and Connor McDavid will be skate with Taylor Hall this campaign. His 45.7 winning percentage on faceoffs will have to improve and he's slated to take a step forward offensively after recording 56 points in each of his last two seasons.
Aug 14 - 3:59 PM

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is looking forward to welcoming Connor McDavid into the Oilers' franchise.

Nugent-Hopkins pointed out that Edmonton has plenty of players that have been through what McDavid is going through now in terms of the expectations that come with being drafted first overall. In that respect, the Oilers are uniquely qualified to help McDavid with his transition, albeit for the wrong reasons. "We're still a young group of forwards and defensemen and everybody is going to be happy to have him for sure," Nugent-Hopkins said. "I hope he's excited. I hope he's really looking forward to joining our team. I know we're really excited to have him come to us."
Apr 20 - 9:33 AM

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (foot) will not participate in the World Championships.

Nugent-Hopkins had interest in joining Team Canada for the tournament, but his doctors advised against it. He should be fine for the start of the 2015-16 campaign though.
Apr 16 - 9:23 AM

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (foot) hopes to play for Team Canada at the upcoming World Championships.

Nugent-Hopkins missed the last week of the season with a fractured foot that has been in a walking boot but the center has been told that the chances of worsening the injury aren't great if he plays. Nugent-Hopkins ended the season with 24 goals and 56 points, not too bad considering he got off to a slow start.
Apr 13 - 7:56 AM

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins won’t play Saturday night because of a lower-body injury.

Nugent-Hopkins has 24 goals and 32 assists this season. According to Oilers radio analyst Bob Stauffer, Nugent-Hopkins took a shot from Jarome Iginla off his foot Monday night, though he did play the following two games. Boyd Gordon (back) also remains out.
Apr 4 - 9:23 PM

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins picked up his 24th goal in Edmonton's 5-1 blowout loss to Anaheim.

It was a disaster of a night for the Oilers but the lone bright spot was beautiful 2-on-1 conversion connection by Jordan Eberle and Nugent-Hopkins. "The Nuge" now has five goals in his last seven games and is showing a consistent production expected from a 1st overall draft choice. He has 24 goals and 32 assists in 75 games this season.
Apr 2 - 1:10 AM

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored a pretty goal for his 23rd of the season, cutting the Jets lead to 3-1 just 70 seconds into the third period. However the Jets would prevail 4-1 on Monday night.

Nugent-Hopkins found himself in the slot, following what seemed like an ordinary play. As Taylor Hall's shot redirected towards Nugent-Hopkins, he lifted Michael Frolik's stick and shot the puck all in one motion, beating Ondrej Pavelec. Nugent-Hopkins continues to lead the team in goals, and ranks second in points with 54.
Mar 24 - 3:19 AM

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins powered the Oilers to a 5-4 overtime win against the Flyers with two goals and an assist Saturday night.

He scored the game winner at 2:46 of overtime. Hidden in the midst of another disappointing season in Edmonton is the emergence of its top center as a bonafide number one. RNH has points in five consecutive games. He has 22 goals and 53 points in 69 games this season, so he should easily eclipse his 56 points from last year. Jordan Eberle (goal, assist), Teddy Purcell and Matt Hendricks scored the other goals.
Mar 22 - 12:54 AM

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored his 20th goal of the 2014-15 campaign in a 4-3 shootout loss to Columbus.

Nugent-Hopkins has reached the 20-goal mark for the first time after falling just short of it in 2013-14. "Going into this season I wanted to get over 20," Nugent-Hopkins said. "I am feeling pretty good this year. I am happy with that accomplishment." The marker also extended his point streak to four games. He has 50 points in 69 contests this season.
Mar 19 - 9:39 AM

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored three goals and added an assist in the Edmonton Oilers' 7-4 loss to the Hurricanes in Carolina Sunday.

Nugent-Hopkins now has 20 goals on the season. His second goal of the game gave the Oilers a 3-0 lead at 7:59 of the second period but the Canes would tie the game at 3-3 before the end of the second period and jump into a 6-3 lead before the 7-minute mark of the third period. Nugent-Hopkins scored his third goal at 9:31 of the third period to cut the Canes' lead to 6-4 but, after squandering a game like this, the Oilers didn't have much to rave about other than the center's hat trick. The Oilers' other goal was scored by Jordan Eberle, his 16th of the season. Eberle also assisted on two of Nugent-Hopkins' goals and brought up his points total for the season to 47.
Mar 8 - 7:05 PM

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins now ranks third among active players in terms of games played with Edmonton.

The Jeff Petry trade allowed Nugent-Hopkins to move into that position. Nugent-Hopkins is 21 years old with 243 games under his belt, so the fact that he's now third on that list is a bit of a sad statement with Edmonton. Granted, the Oilers are rebuilding, so their emphasis on youth is understandable from that regard, but it's also true that they've been stuck in a rebuilding mode for far longer than was hoped and statistics like this are a reflection of that.
Mar 2 - 10:15 AM

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins had an assist in a 2-1 win against Minnesota.

Nugent-Hopkins has 16 goals and 37 points in 60 contests in 2014-15. At his current pace, he won't surpass his career-high of 56 points, although he should reach the 50-point mark for the third time. We'll be looking for more from Nugent-Hopkins in 2015-16.
