Nugent-Hopkins found himself in the slot, following what seemed like an ordinary play. As Taylor Hall's shot redirected towards Nugent-Hopkins, he lifted Michael Frolik's stick and shot the puck all in one motion, beating Ondrej Pavelec. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins powered the Oilers to a 5-4 overtime win against the Flyers with two goals and an assist Saturday night.

He scored the game winner at 2:46 of overtime. Hidden in the midst of another disappointing season in Edmonton is the emergence of its top center as a bonafide number one. RNH has points in five consecutive games. He has 22 goals and 53 points in 69 games this season, so he should easily eclipse his 56 points from last year. Jordan Eberle (goal, assist), Teddy Purcell and Matt Hendricks scored the other goals.
Mar 22 - 12:54 AM

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored his 20th goal of the 2014-15 campaign in a 4-3 shootout loss to Columbus.

Nugent-Hopkins has reached the 20-goal mark for the first time after falling just short of it in 2013-14. "Going into this season I wanted to get over 20," Nugent-Hopkins said. "I am feeling pretty good this year. I am happy with that accomplishment." The marker also extended his point streak to four games. He has 50 points in 69 contests this season.
Mar 19 - 9:39 AM

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored three goals and added an assist in the Edmonton Oilers' 7-4 loss to the Hurricanes in Carolina Sunday.

Nugent-Hopkins now has 20 goals on the season. His second goal of the game gave the Oilers a 3-0 lead at 7:59 of the second period but the Canes would tie the game at 3-3 before the end of the second period and jump into a 6-3 lead before the 7-minute mark of the third period. Nugent-Hopkins scored his third goal at 9:31 of the third period to cut the Canes' lead to 6-4 but, after squandering a game like this, the Oilers didn't have much to rave about other than the center's hat trick. The Oilers' other goal was scored by Jordan Eberle, his 16th of the season. Eberle also assisted on two of Nugent-Hopkins' goals and brought up his points total for the season to 47.
Mar 8 - 7:05 PM

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins now ranks third among active players in terms of games played with Edmonton.

The Jeff Petry trade allowed Nugent-Hopkins to move into that position. Nugent-Hopkins is 21 years old with 243 games under his belt, so the fact that he's now third on that list is a bit of a sad statement with Edmonton. Granted, the Oilers are rebuilding, so their emphasis on youth is understandable from that regard, but it's also true that they've been stuck in a rebuilding mode for far longer than was hoped and statistics like this are a reflection of that.
Mar 2 - 10:15 AM

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins had an assist in a 2-1 win against Minnesota.

Nugent-Hopkins has 16 goals and 37 points in 60 contests in 2014-15. At his current pace, he won't surpass his career-high of 56 points, although he should reach the 50-point mark for the third time. We'll be looking for more from Nugent-Hopkins in 2015-16.
Feb 25 - 9:47 AM

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins helped the Oilers rally from two goals down to tie Thursday's game with the Habs with 25 seconds left in the team's 4-3 overtime victory.

It was the Nuge's second goal of the game and 34th point in 54 games so far this season. Nugent-Hopkins now has three points in his past two games after being held scoreless in his previous three.
Feb 12 - 10:37 PM

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored a goal and added an assist for the Oilers Tuesday as they came from behind to score a 5-4 shootout win over the Capitals.

The Nuge has now recorded two multi-point games in his last three outings and has increased his point total to 29 in 45 contests for the year. Because of his poor contributions in the plus/minus and PIM categories, he needs to score even more to be a significant value in rotisserie formats. Derek Roy, Teddy Purcell and Nikita Nikitin all scored goal for Edmonton in the win.
Jan 20 - 10:27 PM

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins registered two assists in a 3-2 loss to Tampa Bay.

Nugent-Hopkins has 11 goals and 27 points in 43 games this season. At that rate he'll have a tough time matching his 56-point total from 2013-14, which is unfortunate because he's capable of significantly more. Although, he's certainly not the only Edmonton forward that's underperformed this season.
Jan 16 - 9:07 AM

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins netted his 11th goal of the campaign in the Oilers' 3-2 shootout win over the LA Kings on Tuesday.

It was his second goal in a as many games as he was set up nicely on some hard board work from Jordan Eberle and Taylor Hall. The 21 year-old has four goals in six games and points in seven of 11 games overall. RNH is quietly having himself a solid season amidst the turmoil in northern Alberta. Matt Hendricks scored the other goal for the Oilers who got their new bench boss Todd Nelson.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored the lone goal for the Oilers in their 4-1 loss to the Flames on Saturday night.

Nugent-Hopkins has points in four of his last five games. One wonders how much better he’d be on a more stable team, too. He has 10 goals and 23 points. Justin Schultz and Andrew Ference chipped in with the helpers. Brad Hunt finished a game-low minus-three.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins was the only Oiler that could find the net in a 2-1 overtime loss to Arizona on Tuesday night.

Nugent-Hopkins snapped a beauty home short side on Devan Dubnyk for his eighth goal of the season and 20th point in 30 games. He now has points in three of his last four games and is on pace to pass his 56 points he totaled last year. The Oilers failed to capitalize on a 42 save performance from goalie Ben Scrivens in their first game post Dallas Eakins. Justin Schultz picked up an assist on the lone goal.

The Oilers had their chances in this game but were still out-shot 34-22 on the second night of a tough back-to-back situation versus two strong California teams.
