Lennart Petrell has signed with Geneve-Servette of the Swiss League.
He had nine points and 23 shots in 35 games with the Edmonton Oilers last season. Petrell was a good penalty killer and he could rack up hits, but his departure to Switzerland won't hurt anyone's fantasy squad heading into the 2013-14 campaign. Wed, Aug 14, 2013 06:18:00 PM

Lennart Petrell is projected to miss at least a week with a high ankle sprain.

He totaled nine points and 63 hits in 35 matches, so even if he doesn't play again this campaign his absence likely won't impact your fantasy roster.

Lennart Petrell was a healthy scratch on Monday.

Petrell could return to action on Tuesday as the Oilers lost Eric Belanger in the middle stanza to a groin injury. Petrell has two goals and six points in 24 games this season with one goal being shorthanded.

Do not expect to see Lennart Petrell (head) headed to the injured reserve list.

Petrell was struck on the head by a puck in the pre-game warmup Saturday. "His head was moving sideways, but we've seen an improvement," coach Ralph Krueger said. "There were light concussion symptoms. He's too close to skating to put him on injured reserve." He has no fantasy value.

Lennart Petrell (head) did not practice Monday and is doubtful to play on Tuesday.

Petrell was struck in the head by a puck in the pre-game warmup Saturday and while he hasn't been officially diagnosed with a concussion, the signs seem to be pointing that way.

Lennart Petrell was struck in the head by a puck during pre-game warmup Saturday and did not dress.

Petrell was reportedly suffering from a headache when asked after the game, but it's not yet known whether he suffered a concussion. Consider him day-to-day until we know more about his condition.

Lennart Petrell scored his first goal in over a month Saturday to lead Helsinki to a 4-1 win.

Petrell had eight goals through October 30 and finally got number nine Saturday. To be fair, the SM-liiga shut down for a couple of weeks in November but it still must have been a relief for the 28-year-old Finn. He has yet to garner an assist this season. Look for Petrell, who had nine points in 60 games for Edmonton in his first season in North America last year, to contribute more in the NHL as it usually takes veterans a year to acclimate themselves to the North American lifestyle.

Lennart Petrell generated the game-winning goal for IFK Helsinki in a 3-2 whitewashing of Hameenlinna on Tuesday.

He has potted four goals in five contests in the SM-liiga. Ex-NHLer Patrick O'Sullivan, who signed a full-year deal to play in Finland in September, had an assist in the contest.

Lennart Petrell picked up the hat trick in leading IFK Helsinki to a 6-1 win over Ilves.

Petrell spent last season with the Edmonton Oilers and had nine points in 60 games. Look for Petrell to have a bigger role with the Oilers when the lockout is over as it usually takes European veterans a year to become acclimated to the North American way of life.

Lennart Petrell has signed with HIFK Helsinki of SM-liiga.

Petrell will play for the Edmonton Oilers in 2012-13, when/if the season starts. This move isn't surprising, given that Petrell spent years with HIFK Helsinki before joining the Oilers for the 2011-12 campaign. He had nine points and 45 penalty minutes in 60 games with the Oilers.

Lennart Petrell has signed a one-year deal with the Edmonton Oilers.

He recorded 122 hits, which led all forwards on the team, and nine points in 60 games with the Oilers last season after coming to North America from the Finnish Elite League. He mostly played on the fourth line and worked on the penalty kill. Petrell doesn't have much offensive upside, which makes him less attractive from a fantasy perspective, but he can be a serviceable player at the NHL level.
