Adam Larsson has gotten off to a great start at training camp.
Larsson took a step forward under coach Scott Stevens last season and it seems he's also excelling under new bench boss John Hynes. "Adam's been very impressive, really in this training camp, the first time having worked with him, just the way he's gone about his business every single day." Hynesa said after Monday's preseason game. "I think you even saw him tonight. He had the opportunity. He played big minutes 5-on-5 and then we gave him some quality power-play time tonight and he looked good in that situation. So, (he's) an all-around player that has the potential to be a guy that plays in all situations for us. And I think his maturity and mentality this year coming is he's showing that he could possibly earn all that type of ice time." Larsson logged 23:25 minutes in Monday's contest. Sep 22 - 5:38 AM

Devils' General Manager Ray Shero believes that Adam Larsson's new contract is fair for both sides.

Larsson inked a six-year, $25 million contract with New Jersey on Saturday, which his General Manager was thrilled about. "I think this is a good deal for both sides," Shero said. "This is a young defenseman at 22 years old who is signed for a six-year term. Adam showed a commitment that he really wanted to be here." Like many young defenseman, the 22-year-old took some time to develop after being the fourth overall pick in the 2011 draft. Larsson scored 24 points in just 64 games in 2014-15.
Jul 26 - 8:59 AM

The Devils have signed Adam Larsson to a six-year, $25 million contract.

The 22-year-old was a restricted free agent coming off a $900,000 salary last season, so this is a nice raise for the talented defenseman. Larsson was the team’s fourth-overall pick in the 2011 draft. He had 24 points in 64 games last year. It’s clear Ray Shero and Co. believe Larsson has a very bright future ahead of him.
Jul 25 - 3:04 PM

Adam Larsson's agent, J.P. Barry, and the Pittsburgh Penguins are expected to work this weekend on ironing out a long-term extension.

The negotiations with Larsson were temporarily sidetracked as the Devils dealt with the surprise departure of president Lou Lamoriello, who joined the Toronto Maple Leafs as their general manager. The team is moving past that now though and a Larsson contract would be Devils GM Ray Shero's first major act with New Jersey post-Lamoriello. There's an arbitration hearing scheduled for Wednesday, so the two sides are up against a deadline if they want to ink a long-term deal.
Jul 24 - 10:56 AM

Adam Larsson is expected to sign a new deal with the Devils before his July 29 arbitration hearing.

Devils general manager Ray Shero said that negotiations are ongoing. A long-term contract is ideal and the "fallback" is a two-year deal. "I think we'll get a deal done," Shero said. "We have time before the arbitration date certainly and we'll see where that leads us, but the goal with [Eric] Gelinas was to try to agree to a deal we're both happy with and it's the same thing with Larsson. I had a conversation with [agent] J.P. Barry again [Thursday] and I hope within the next few days to have an idea where we're going. We've talked about a lot of different things." Larsson had 24 points in 64 games last season, while carrying a $900,000 cap hit.
Jul 18 - 5:05 PM

Adam Larsson has an arbitration hearing scheduled for July 29.

Larsson had three goals and 24 points in 64 games last season. He's struggled to live up to expectations for most of his still young career, but he did much better under co-coach Scott Stevens. Of course, the Devils shifted coaches again for the 20145-16 campaign, so Larsson is a bit of a wild card and the Devils will likely opt to manage their risk by signing him to a one-year deal.
Jul 13 - 5:57 PM

Adam Larsson has filed for salary arbitration.

The deadline to do so was Sunday at 5:00 PM EST. The 22-year-old had a nice season for the Devils, as he scored three goals, 24 points and a plus-2 rating in 64 games. Arbitration hearings will be heard in Toronto between July 20th and August 4th.
Jul 5 - 6:42 PM

The New Jersey Devils have sent Adam Larsson a qualifying offer.

Still just 22-years-old Larsson would've become an UFA otherwise. Larsson has been a disappointment for the Devils since being drafted fourth overall in 2012. However his talent seemed to click into place during the second half of the 2014-15 season, scoring 20 of his 24 points beginning in January. Larsson is coming off a one-year, $900K deal, which is $25K less per season than was his ELC.
Jun 25 - 8:41 PM

New Jersey is "keen" to re-sign Adam Larsson, according to agent Claes Elefalk.

GM Ray Shero has spoken just a little bit with Elefalk about a new deal for the young blueliner. Shero has been busy with other matters, but he will get to his restricted free agents eventually.
Jun 18 - 12:53 PM

The Bergen Record is speculating that the New Jersey Devils could trade one of their young blueliners for some much-needed scoring in the off-season.

The Devils have a glut of blueliners both on their team and in their system at this time. Adam Larsson has really turned around his career since the firing of previous head coach Peter DeBoer and it's unlikely the Devils will want to deal the fourth overall pick in the 2011 draft but you never know. Teams could be interested in Damon Severson, Jonathan Merrill and Eric Gelinas as well as Boston College prospect Steve Santini.
Apr 4 - 7:52 AM

Co-coach Scott Stevens split up defensive pairing Adam Larsson and Andy Greene for the third period Saturday.

Larsson was paired with Jon Merrill while Greene played with Damon Severson. No reason. Scotty decided he wanted to make a little change," GM Lou Lamoriello claimed. "There is no reason sometimes. It isn't that there is something wrong when those things transpire." Larsson has really come on this season and is showing why he was selected fourth overall in 2011. Do not forget about him next season.
Mar 29 - 9:37 AM

Adam Larsson had an assist in a 3-2 overtime loss to Washington.

Larsson ended his four-game point drought. He has three goals and 22 points in 56 contests in 2014-15. He seemed to benefit from the Devils' coaching change this season and that might be the setup for a breakout campaign in 2015-16. He remains a gamble, but he's certainly worth keeping an eye on going forward.
Mar 27 - 11:14 AM

Adam Larsson had a team-high five shots on goal for the Devils, who fell 3-0 to the Islanders on Saturday night.

The Devils’ coaching change has been a huge benefit to Larsson, who has received more consistent playing time. The fourth overall pick from the 2011 draft has 21 points this season.
Mar 21 - 9:29 PM

Adam Larsson scored a goal in a 3-1 victory over the Nashville Predators.

Larsson seemed amused by the fact that his third marker of 2014-15 also set a new career-high for him. He added, "It's always nice to score, but I don't really care about personal points at this point of the year. I think it's more important for the team to win." He's been on fire lately with a goal and six assists in his last seven games.
Mar 4 - 9:17 AM

Adam Larsson had a big offensive night on Friday with three assists.

Larsson is finally coming into his own this season after struggling for three seasons since being drafted fourth overall in 2011. Larsson has two goals and 15 points in 40 games and seems a cinch to pass his 18 point total of his rookie year. He is a candidate to get to 30-35 next season so draft him accordingly.
