Defenseman Adam Larsson has reportedly agreed to terms with the Devils on a new one-year, $900,000 contract.
The blueliner thought to be a surefire NHLer when he was drafted has struggled to find consistency at the highest level, but optimism remains due to his relatively young age. This contract agreement puts to rest the chatter from earlier in the offseason suggesting Larsson may be interested in a signing a deal to play in Sweden. Jun 30 - 8:25 PM

Adam Larsson has no intention of playing overseas, according to his agent J.P. Barry.

Barry added that he's been talking about a contract for the young defenseman with Devils GM Lou Lamoriello. "We're talking to Lou and just trying to figure out what his role would be for next year and what's best for him developmentally," Barry said. "I don't know where that (the talk of him going to Sweden) came from."

Devils GM Lou Lamoriello doesn't think Adam Larsson will bolt to play in Sweden next season.

"I don't have any knowledge of that," Lamoriello said amid rumors on Wednesday suggesting it was possible. He also denied that there was any concern over losing Larsson, who New Jersey took with the fourth overall pick in 2011. He's a restricted free agent next month and hasn't been happy with his playing time. Larsson appeared in just 26 NHL games in 2013-14.

With Marek Zidlicky re-signed, Adam Larsson's task of making the Devils' opening game roster has been made that much more difficult.

The Devils now have five defensemen signed to one-way contracts and a sixth that will almost certainly make the team in Jon Merrill. That doesn't leave much room for Larsson, who spent a good chunk of the 2013-14 campaign in the minors. Devils GM Lou Lamoriello said that the team still might make other moves in that regard though, so it's possible that New Jersey plans to move or even buy out a defenseman. Meanwhile, Larsson is scheduled to become a restricted free agent this summer.

Adam Larsson figures he'll be sent back to AHL Albany to help them out.

The New Jersey Devils have little left to play for and their season will be over soon anyways. "I would love to go there and play the rest of the way, try to be a part of their playoff, if they make it," Larsson said. He has 19 points in 32 AHL games in 2013-14.
Apr 11 - 9:20 AM

Adam Larsson has been called up by New Jersey on an emergency basis.

He's expected to play on Monday because Jonanthan Merrill won't be available to suit up after being struck in the face with a deflected shot on Saturday. Larsson has 19 points in 32 AHL contests this season.
Mar 31 - 4:42 PM

The Devils plan on keeping Adam Larsson in the minors for a while longer, according to Devils GM Lou Lamoriello.

Larsson has four assists in six AHL games. He has a lot of offensive upside, but hasn't been able to firmly establish himself with the Devils since being taken in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
Jan 22 - 2:23 PM

Adam Larsson had three assists Saturday while playing in the AHL for Albany.

Larsson was sent to the minors on a conditioning stint after being sidelined since November 23 with a lower body injury. The talented defenseman has not done a lot in the NHL but remember that he just turned 21 and has played three seasons in the NHL. He will get it together and we recommend him in keeper leagues but not just yet in one-year pools.
Jan 12 - 8:45 AM

Adam Larsson has been assigned to the minors.

He had been sidelined since Nov. 23, with a lower-body injury, but this apparently isn't a conditioning stint. Larsson has three points and a minus-4 rating in 20 games this year.
Jan 9 - 2:15 PM

Adam Larsson (lower body) will miss Friday's game.

Larsson hasn't played since Nov. 23. He has a goal and two assists in 20 games this season.
Jan 1 - 12:11 PM

Adam Larsson (lower body) resumed skating last week.

Coach Pete DeBoer said Larsson suffered "a fairly significant injury" when he crashed into the boards on Nov. 23 in San Jose. DeBoer described the lower-body injury as "a pretty standard kind of four-to-six week type thing." He has been skating on his own lately.

The New Jersey Devils placed Adam Larsson on the injured reserve retroactive to Nov. 23 on Sunday.

The fourth pick of the 2011 NHL Draft hasn't paid immediate dividends for the Devils, at least yet. He has three points and a -4 rating in 20 games played this season.

Adam Larsson won't play Monday because of a lower-body injury.

He was hurt when he lost an edge and crashed into the boards during the third period of Saturday's loss to San Jose. Larsson has one goal and two assists in 20 games this season.

Adam Larsson scored his first goal of the season Saturday in a 4-1 win over Pittsburgh.

It was the 21-year-old's first goal in close to two years as he went 96 games without finding the back of the net before Saturday. The defenseman has struggled to establish himself in the NHL but he is still so young that the learning curve for a blueliner is very difficult. He will be a very good NHL player but it is taking longer than first anticipated. He has lots of offensive upside so keep an eye on him.

Adam Larsson turned 21 on Tuesday.

Larsson has struggled to establish himself at the NHL level since he was taken with the fourth overall pick in 2011, but obviously he's still young. There are better players to hold onto in most keeper leagues, but Larsson is worth keeping an eye on as he does have a fair deal of offensive upside despite recording just 25 points in 116 career NHL contests.
