Adam Larsson had a big offensive night on Friday with three assists.
Larsson is finally coming into his own this season after struggling for three seasons since being drafted fourth overall in 2011. Larsson has two goals and 15 points in 40 games and seems a cinch to pass his 18 point total of his rookie year. He is a candidate to get to 30-35 next season so draft him accordingly. Adam Larsson picked up two assists and was a plus-two on Friday.

The amazing thing about New Jersey's 4-1 win over Toronto was that every player on the Devils was a plus in the game with Larsson and Jonathon Merrill the only players at plus-two. We recommended Larsson a couple of weeks ago and he has come through of late as he has a goal and eight points in his last 12 games.

Defenseman Adam Larsson, who is being touted these days by the New Jersey coaching staff as a player with tremendous upside, scored the Devils' only goal in regulation before the team's 2-1 shootout win over the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs Wednesday night.

Larsson was conspicuously active throughout the game before firing in his second goal of the season with 2:50 remaining in the third period. That tied the game at 1-1 and spoiled the shutout bid of Toronto goalie Jonathan Bernier. Larsson also had a team-high four shots on net. The victory by the Devils (18-22-8) was their third in four games (3-1-0). New Jersey will continue its five-game homestand against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday.

Adam Larsson has responded well to co-coach Scott Stevens and interim head coach/GM Lou Lamoriello.

Since Pete DeBoer was fired, Larsson has become a big factor. Granted, the sample size is small, but Larsson has logged over 23 minutes in each of his last three contests. "It's a lot of fun," Larsson said. "It's been a real change for us from the coaches standpoint. I feel like I have a lot of fun at the rink right now and, hopefully, we can continue." Larsson was taken with the fourth overall pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, but he struggled to cement his spot with the Devils during DeBoer's tenure. Now he's getting a fresh opportunity and is worth keeping an eye on.

New co-coach Scott Stevens still thinks that Adam Larsson can produce offensively in the NHL.

And not just produce but produce at a high level. Larsson was drafted fourth overall in the 2011 Draft but has struggled at the NHL level which is not surprising for a very young defenseman. "Forget where you’re drafted, forget what people expected just be an important part of this team," Stevens declared. He also said that Larsson needs to get back the coach's trust. Don't give up on him yet.

Adam Larsson "thinks" he is back in the lineup on Tuesday night.

He hasn't played since Dec. 2 due to the mumps. New Jersey might dress seven defensemen in the match because injuries and illness have thinned them up front. If that happens then Larsson's chances of playing improve even if he sees limited minutes.

Adam Larsson will be available on Saturday as he played one game in the minors on a conditioning stint before being recalled.

Larsson was out with the mumps and could draw back into the Devils lineup against Washington. He has a goal and four points this season in 17 games. Larsson has been a disappointment since going fourth overall in 2011, but to be fair, it does take defensemen a lot longer to establish themselves than it takes forwards in the NHL.

Adam Larsson (mumps) will only spend Friday in the AHL on his current conditioning stint.

Adam Larsson (mumps) is ready to return to New Jersey's lineup.

"I feel like I'm a coach's decision right now," said Larsson referring to Friday's game against Tampa Bay. "If they want me to play tomorrow, I feel comfortable doing that. If not, I'll just wait." He's been trying to get his conditioning back since he resumed skating on Saturday. If he gets the go-ahead to play then he will replace injured defenseman Damon Severson in the lineup.

Adam Larsson will continue to be sidelined with a case of the mumps Wednesday night when the Devils host the Senators.

He has now missed the last seven games and can’t seem to get over the mumps, but he is nearing a return as he is skating in practices. He is anxious to get back on the ice, "I want to get back in as soon as possible," Larsson said, "but at the same time I have to realize I've been pretty sick, so I have to get my energy back." He has four points in 17 games played on the season.

Adam Larsson (mumps) can start skating on Saturday.

It's not clear when Larsson will be available to return, but he's missed five games so far. When he returns, Seth Helgeson might be sent back to the minors or find himself spending more time in the press box.

Adam Larsson has been diagnosed with the mumps.

He has been placed in isolation while he recovers. Larsson hasn't played since Dec. 2 in Pittsburgh because of what was originally believed to be the flu.

Adam Larsson (flu) has been moved to injured reserve.

New Jersey is waiting for tests results to see if Larsson has the mumps, which has been making its way around the NHL in 2014-15. Larsson is eligible to be removed from injured reserve on Wednesday.
