Adam Larsson played 18:56 in his return to the lineup on Saturday.
Unfortunately for the Oilers, they dropped a 1-0 decision to the Arizona Coyotes. Larsson missed eight games for personal reasons (his father passed away). The Oilers blue liner finished the night with four penalty minutes, three shots on goal, two hits and six blocked shots. Once he's back into game-shape, he should see an increase in ice time. Adam Larsson rejoined the Oilers for Friday's practice.

Larsson's father, Robert, passed away and Adam of course needed some time off. Oilers coach Todd McLellan said there's no timetable for Larsson's return to the lineup.

Adam Larsson's father, Robert, has passed away.

Larsson left the team prior to Edmonton's game on Jan. 25. It was revealed on Friday was Larsson was absent. "Sport tends to be an escape for the fans and it should be, that's what it's there for, but the players don't necessarily have that escape and they deal with a lot. Adam is dealing with that," Oilers coach Todd McLellan said. "It has affected our room immensely and we'll continue to support the Larsson family. You won't see him for a while because we're going to give him the time he needs to spend and take care of things." Larsson should absolutely take as much time as he needs.

Larsson didn't play last Thursday either because of a personal issue. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Adam Larsson (personal) won't play in Thursday's game against the Calgary Flames.

No specific reason was given for his absence. The team will likely provide an update on his situation after tonight's game. He has three goals and three assists in 40 games this season.

Adam Larsson (upper body) will be back in the lineup on Monday night.

Larsson has been sidelined since Nov. 28 due to an upper-body injury. He has four points, 90 hits and 52 blocks in 25 games this season. Feel free to get him back in your lineup if you normally would.

Adam Larsson (upper body) won't play Wednesday night.

Larsson may be sidelined longer than initially thought because of an upper-body injury that has already kept him out of the last two games. A return on the weekend was viewed as a possibility, but that may not be the case anymore.

Adam Larsson (upper body) has been moved to the injured reserve list.

Larsson was a late scratch on Thursday due to the injury. The good news is that Edmonton thinks Larsson will only end up missing the one week he must spend on the IR list after being placed there.

Adam Larsson was a late scratch on Thursday due to an undisclosed injury.

We don't know anything beyond that about Larsson's injury yet, but more information might be made available Friday afternoon. For now we'll regard him as day-to-day, but it would be a big blow to the Oilers if Larsson was sidelined for any prolonged period of time. He might not have fantasy value in standard leagues, but Edmonton has been counting on him to average 22:30 minutes per contest.

Adam Larsson had one of the best all-around games played by a defensemen Friday night against his former team, the Devils.

In 23:07 of game action Larsson blocked six shots, dished out an astronomical 13 hits and registered an assist. The Devils certainly knew when he was on the ice. We have always liked Larsson. The only question with him is whether he's only going to be a very good NHL defenseman or a very good fantasy one.

The Edmonton Oilers have given up only three goals in their last two games.

That is after 19 goals in their previous four contests. The Oilers managed to drop a 2-1 decision to the Flyers Saturday but their defense has undergone a great improvement. "I thought we did a lot of good things," Adam Larsson said. "It was obviously a tough loss, but our game has been a lot better. We have to keep going. We can’t get down on ourselves. This was a tough one but we have to move on." Larsson has a goal in seven games so his fantasy value is limited at best but he did play 24:21 Saturday.

Adam Larsson logged a staggering 44:58 minutes of ice time in Friday's 4-3 2OT loss to Anaheim.

Larsson was leaned on so heavily because defenseman Andrej Sekera was hurt in the first period and didn't return. Larsson also registered an assist, giving him five points in 11 contests in the 2017 playoffs.

Adam Larsson scored two goals and registered an assist in Edmonton's 5-3 victory over Anaheim in Game 1 Wednesday night.

Larsson had never had a multi-goal game in the NHL before and he picked a great time for his first. His second goal of the contest came at 15:20 of the third period and proved to be the game winner. He's not much of an offensive force and we wouldn't count on him to have another big offensive game in the 2017 playoffs, but the Oilers have been led so far by unlikely heroes, so you never know.
