Adam Larsson logged just 12:30 minutes in his season debut on Tuesday.
Larsson was a healthy scratch for five straight games. "I thought he was fine," Devils coach Peter DeBoer said. "It's a lot for all our young D to be thrown in. They've got a lot of speed up front. That team is three to four lines deep. I thought our group defensively overall 5-on-5 was pretty good. We bent a little bit in different areas, but I thought we played a pretty solid game. We gave up 24, 25 shots to that team, which isn't a big number." Larsson has a lot of offensive upside, but no fantasy value in standard leagues at this time. Oct 22 - 10:20 AM

Adam Larsson will make his season debut Tuesday night.

Larsson spent the Devils' first five contests in the press box. He's got a lot of potential, but he's struggled to establish himself in the NHL and until he does, it's hard to recommend him in standard leagues.

A final decision hasn't been made yet, but Adam Larsson may make his season debut Tuesday night versus the Rangers.

He practiced alongside Jon Merrill on Monday, which could bump Eric Gelinas from the lineup. Larsson is excited by the possibility that he's finally coming out of the press box.

Adam Larsson continues to be a healthy scratch four games into the season.

The young blueliner was taken fourth overall by the Devils in the 2011 draft after many thought he should go first, but he is having a tough time cracking the Devils lineup and has been passed on the depth chart by Damon Severson who has been outstanding. Larsson still has an outstanding future but he may need a change of scenery to fulfill his potential.

Adam Larsson was a healthy scratch in the Devils' season opener.

Larsson called it the most difficult healthy scratch he's endured and that's saying something because he's unfortunately spent quite a bit of time in the press box. He was taken with the fourth overall pick in 2011, but so far he hasn't developed like many had hoped.
Oct 10 - 6:58 PM

Adam Larsson had two assists in the Devils 3-0 win on Saturday.

Larsson has been a disappointment since he was drafted fourth overall in the 2011 Draft but New Jersey is hoping that this is the year he will show why he deserved to be drafted so high. "I think he had a very strong game tonight, not just because of the points he had. He was battling hard in the corners and he was winning a lot of his one-on-one battles," Andy Greene said. "It was good to see. He’s a great kid and a great player. Hopefully this is the start of it. Confidence is a tricky little thing. Sometimes you feel the shooting lanes are 10 feet wide and sometimes they’re the size of a nickel. It’s good to see him playing the way he is." Larsson was also plus-two in the game.

Devils GM Lou Lamoriello insists that the organization isn't on the brink of giving up on Adam Larsson.

Larsson entered the NHL amid big expectations after being taken with the fourth overall pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, but he's played in just 128 NHL games at this point. That alone wouldn't be too troubling, but his role seems to be declining each season. "You have to be patient with young players," Lamoriello pointed out. That being said, if Larsson has a bad season, it wouldn't be surprising for us if the Devils balked at giving him another one-way contract.
Sep 23 - 1:55 PM

Adam Larsson knows he has to earn a spot on the New Jersey Devils blueline this season.

Larsson has been with the Devils for three seasons and while he played at the NHL level in his first two seasons after being drafted fourth overall in the 2011 Draft, he played only 26 games with New Jersey last season and 33 with Albany of the AHL. "I know I have to be good enough," Larsson said. "That’s what the reality is. It doesn’t matter what they say or what they promise. I have to be good enough." We cannot recommend him in fantasy pools this season at this time.
Sep 21 - 8:07 AM

Defenseman Adam Larsson has struggled at the NHL level and this could be a make or break season as a Devil.

New Jersey took Larsson with the fourth overall pick in the 2011 Draft and while he played at the NHL level his first two seasons, he played only 26 games with the Devils last season while playing 33 times for their AHL affiliate in Albany. Larsson has plenty of talent but may be in need of a change of scenery. The good news is that he is only 21 and he can look at fellow Swede Victor Hedman who finally became a stud blueliner in 2013-14 after being selected second overall six seasons ago.
Sep 13 - 8:38 AM

Defenseman Adam Larsson has reportedly agreed to terms with the Devils on a new one-year, $900,000 contract.

The blueliner thought to be a surefire NHLer when he was drafted has struggled to find consistency at the highest level, but optimism remains due to his relatively young age. This contract agreement puts to rest the chatter from earlier in the offseason suggesting Larsson may be interested in a signing a deal to play in Sweden.
Jun 30 - 8:25 PM

Adam Larsson has no intention of playing overseas, according to his agent J.P. Barry.

Barry added that he's been talking about a contract for the young defenseman with Devils GM Lou Lamoriello. "We're talking to Lou and just trying to figure out what his role would be for next year and what's best for him developmentally," Barry said. "I don't know where that (the talk of him going to Sweden) came from."
Jun 12 - 3:12 PM

Devils GM Lou Lamoriello doesn't think Adam Larsson will bolt to play in Sweden next season.

"I don't have any knowledge of that," Lamoriello said amid rumors on Wednesday suggesting it was possible. He also denied that there was any concern over losing Larsson, who New Jersey took with the fourth overall pick in 2011. He's a restricted free agent next month and hasn't been happy with his playing time. Larsson appeared in just 26 NHL games in 2013-14.
Jun 12 - 10:53 AM

With Marek Zidlicky re-signed, Adam Larsson's task of making the Devils' opening game roster has been made that much more difficult.

The Devils now have five defensemen signed to one-way contracts and a sixth that will almost certainly make the team in Jon Merrill. That doesn't leave much room for Larsson, who spent a good chunk of the 2013-14 campaign in the minors. Devils GM Lou Lamoriello said that the team still might make other moves in that regard though, so it's possible that New Jersey plans to move or even buy out a defenseman. Meanwhile, Larsson is scheduled to become a restricted free agent this summer.
Jun 4 - 9:45 AM

Adam Larsson figures he'll be sent back to AHL Albany to help them out.

The New Jersey Devils have little left to play for and their season will be over soon anyways. "I would love to go there and play the rest of the way, try to be a part of their playoff, if they make it," Larsson said. He has 19 points in 32 AHL games in 2013-14.
Apr 11 - 9:20 AM

Adam Larsson has been called up by New Jersey on an emergency basis.

He's expected to play on Monday because Jonanthan Merrill won't be available to suit up after being struck in the face with a deflected shot on Saturday. Larsson has 19 points in 32 AHL contests this season.
