Jonathan Huberdeau (Achilles) is on track to return in February, per Panthers GM and interim coach Tom Rowe.

Huberdeau was on the ice for around an hour Sunday morning and took shots during that time. He hasn't been able to play at all in 2016-17 after sustaining the Achilles injury during a preseason contest on Oct. 9.

Jonathan Huberdeau (Achilles) is inching closer and closer towards his return.

Huberdeau was seen working hard at practice on Saturday, which is a fantastic development in any injury south of the waist. He's still expected to miss the next month, but who knows, maybe he'll be able to expedite that process. Stay tuned.

Jonathan Huberdeau has undergone surgery on his Achilles tendon.

Huberdeau's timetable is still three-to-four months, so we don't expect him to return before January. He had 20 goals and 59 points in 76 contests in 2015-16.

The Florida Panthers say they'll be without Jonathan Huberdeau (lacerated lower leg) for three-to-four months, placing his return no sooner than December.

The 23-year-old posted a second straight season of career highs in 2015-16, scoring 20 goals and 59 points in 76 games. This is a devastating blow to the Panthers, who will also be without Nick Bjugstad (broken hand) for at least a month to begin the season.

Jonathan Huberdeau's injury, which was previously described as lower body, is to his ankle/lower leg.

As previously noted, Huberdeau will have an MRI after being lacerated by the skate of New Jersey’s Sergey Kalinin. Huberdeau has already received stitches and was using a walking boot. Huberdeau will not be ready for the season opener, but what's still not known is just how serious this injury is. "It doesn’t look good right now, but until we get the MRI, we don’t know a whole lot," Panthers coach Gerard Gallant said. "He got cut pretty bad with the skate. We’ll see what happens. We’re obviously hoping for the best. Will it be two weeks? Two months? We don’t have a timeframe. The MRI will tell us a lot."

Definitely keep an eye on the health of Florida Panthers forward Jonathan Huberdeau, who left Saturday's preseason game with a lower-body injury.

He's expected to get an MRI after being lacerated by another player's skate. The worry is that there's tendon damage, according to TSN's Bob McKenzie. The Panthers ended up beating the New Jersey Devils 4-2.

Dale Tallon, who works as the Panthers president of hockey operations now, would like to see Jonathan Huberdeau be "more selfish," and shoot more.

"He's got a good quick shot and the placement of his shots are good," Tallon said. "He's very accurate. I just want him to be a little greedier and to shoot first instead of always looking to make the pass." He was credited with 174 shots on goal last season and he reached the 20-goal mark for the first time in his NHL career. Huberdeau agreed to a six-year extension with the Panthers on Tuesday.

Florida has inked Jonathan Huberdeau to a six-year contract worth $35.4 million.

The new deal, which has same length and total value that teammate Aleksander Barkov signed in January, will have an AAV of $5.9 million. Huberdeau reached personal bests in 2015-16 with 20 goals and 59 points in 76 games. His new contract will kick in after the 2016-17 season.

Jonathan Huberdeau scored in Sunday's 2-1 double overtime loss to the Islanders in Game 6.

It was a really nice goal, as Huberdeau scored with a great wrist-shot while he was falling to the ice. It was the first playoff goal of Huberdeau's career. Unfortunately for the Panthers, John Tavares took over the game. The Islanders captain scored the game-tying goal with 53 seconds left in regulation and he also added the series-clinching goal in double overtime. The Panthers made a ton of progress this season and their future looks bright, but that won't take away from the sting of losing the series.

Jonathan Huberdeau crashed into Islanders goalie Thomas Greiss on a breakaway chance in Game 4, but he was able to return.

He got his left ankle caught in Greiss' pads and headed off the ice temporarily. Huberdeau managed to return while the officials were still looking at the play to determine if he scored. The play was eventually ruled to be no goal because of goaltender interference.
