May 5 - 4:07 PM

It's not clear what the New York Islanders' plans are for Ryan Strome going into Game 4 on Friday.

Strome was a healthy scratch Tuesday for the third time in the 2016 postseason. "When you go up and down the lineup — and I’m looking at it now — you’ve got tough decisions to make on a daily basis," Islanders coach Jack Capuano said. "Overall, Ryan knows what he needs to do to play better, but it’s not like he’s played poorly. It’s a numbers game right now, too. I’ve had plenty of talks with Ryan. I talked to him down in Tampa. … He realizes what he needs to do. I feel like I have a really good relationship with Ryan and when he gets back in there …" Capuano didn't complete that sentence. In the six games Strome has participated in, he has a goal and four points.
May 5 - 10:37 AM

Ryan Strome will be a healthy scratch on Tuesday in Game 3 against Tampa Bay.

"I honestly don't really have much to say," Strome said. "I try to be a good a team guy and I don't want to draw any negative attention to myself. It's a big opportunity for us here tonight and I'm sure the guys that are playing will do the job." Strome was scratched for Games 5 and 6 in the opening round against Florida after he had a goal and assist in the first four contests. He had two assists in Game 1 versus Tampa Bay in Round 2.
May 3 - 12:39 PM

Apr 28 - 11:13 AM

Ryan Strome will be a healthy scratch Sunday in Game 6 for the Islanders.

It’s quite perplexing that Strome, he of a goal, assist and nine shots in four games, will be a healthy scratch for the second consecutive game. But the Islanders are going with the lineup that won them Game 5, and they are one win away from punching their ticket to Round 2. Strome had eight goals and 28 points during the regular season.
Apr 24 - 6:46 PM

Ryan Strome will be scratched in Friday's Game 5 against Florida.

The 22-year-old Strome has a goal and an assist through the first four games of the series, but will be sat in favor of veteran grinder Steve Bernier. Strome has been in and out of coach Jack Capuano's dog house all season long, it appears the playoffs have resolved little.
Apr 22 - 6:50 PM

Ryan Strome scored the game-wining goal and registered an assist in the Islanders' 5-4 victory against the Panthers in Game 1.

It was Strome's second game-winning goal in eight career postseason contests. This was certainly an encouraging way for the 22-year-old to kickoff the playoffs after he was limited to eight goals and 28 points in 71 regular season games.
Apr 15 - 10:36 AM

Ryan Strome picked up pair of helpers during Tuesday's 4-3 overtime win over Washington.

It's been a disappointing season for Strome, who had 50 points as a rookie last season. He has just 28 points in 68 games this season, but it appears he could be heating up just at the right time.
Apr 6 - 12:40 AM

Ryan Strome scored a goal in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday.

Strome snapped a nine-game point drought. He has eight goals and 24 points in 54 contests in 2015-16 after finishing with 50 points last season. This has obviously been a disappointing campaign for Strome, but it wouldn't be shocking to see the talented youngster bounce back next season.
Mar 10 - 9:27 AM

Ryan Strome produced a goal and an assist in a 4-1 win over Detroit on Monday afternoon.

He got his 16th helper on Brock Nelson's opening goal of the match and he sealed the win in third with his seventh marker of the year. Strome has been productive this month with six points in eight contests.
Feb 15 - 4:58 PM

Ryan Strome played in his 160th NHL game on Friday.

The milestone means that Strome cannot be sent to the minors without going through waivers. There is little chance of that as the former fifth overall pick in the 2011 Draft is now seeing action on the top line with John Tavares. Strome was having trouble playing on the first unit before his demotion earlier in the season but seems to have adapted nicely now. "And he couldn’t sustain it, to be honest," coach Jack Capuano said of Strome’s early season struggles while playing with Tavares and Brock Nelson. "When you play with elite players, you’re getting the other team’s best and you have to be tough to play against, every shift, every game. I think Ryan realizes that now." Strome has five goals and 17 points this season but look for a lot more the rest of the way.
Jan 24 - 9:52 AM

Ryan Strome is heating up for the Islanders as he now has points in three of his last five games.

Strome recorded New York's only goal in Sunday's 2-1 shootout loss to Vancouver, and it was a gorgeous display of poise and accuracy in the dying seconds of the third. Strome now has four goals and 16 points in 33 games.
Jan 17 - 7:18 PM

Ryan Strome registered an assist in a 4-1 loss to the Washington Capitals on Thursday.

Strome has now recorded a point in five of his last seven games. He has three goals and 15 points in 30 contests in 2015-16.
Jan 8 - 11:11 AM

Ryan Strome recorded an assist in a 3-1 loss to the Maple Leafs on Sunday.

Strome now has 12 points in 25 games. After posting 50 points last season, Strome is struggling to put up points this year. We'd keep our eye on him because of his offensive upside, but he is definitely not worth owning.
