Murphy has battled concussion issues and has so far failed to live up to his 12th overall selection draft status. He only picked up two assists in 27 NHL games this season and has no fantasy value.

Ryan Murphy might be exposed in the Las Vegas expansion draft.

Murphy would have needed to play in 70 NHL games over the last two seasons to be part of it though and right now he's 17 contests short of that with 19 games to go. There was a time when it looked like he wouldn't even come close to reaching that quota, but Carolina has been using him regularly since trading Ron Hainsey. Murphy was taken with the 12th overall pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, but has struggled to establish himself with the Hurricanes. He's still just 23 years old though (24 on March 31), so he might turn things around and a move to Vegas, which would likely have a bigger role for him, might be the kind of opportunity he needs.

Now that the Carolina Hurricanes have dealt defenseman Ron Hainsey, we might see Ryan Murphy play regularly.

Murphy drew into the lineup on Friday for the first time in roughly a month. He still only logged 14:12 minutes of ice time, but at least now he might be more than the team's seventh defenseman. He has two assists in 12 games this season.

Ryan Murphy, Andrej Nestrasil, and Klas Dahlbeck will be scratched against the Bruins on Sunday.

Murphy has posted two points, while Dahlbeck has a trio of points, both in 10 games this season. Nestrasil has five points in 18 games. Suffice it to say, there isn't much fantasy value here.
