Murphy was a minus-two in 10:29 minutes as he played his first game with the Hurricanes since he was sent down on March 25. The former 12th overall pick in the 2011 Draft has offensive upside and should be looked at next season in pools despite his two goal and 12 point performance in 47 games this season.

Ryan Murphy hopes to stick with the Carolina Hurricanes when he gets his NHL shot again.

He was sent to the minors on Jan. 24 to play with Charlotte during the Olympic break. "It's obviously tough from being in the NHL to go to the AHL, but I'm a 20-year-old kid and hopefully I have a long, bright future in store for me," he said. "I have to take this as a learning experience, play hard down here, try to contribute, be a solid defenseman, contribute on the power play. And when I get my shot to put on the Hurricanes jersey again, I'm going to do my best to stick in the lineup and not come back down." Murphy has 11 points in 39 games with Carolina this season.

Ryan Murphy has been fined $2,213.68 for his clipping infraction Saturday on New York Rangers forward Derek Dorset.

The fine is the maximum permitted under the CBA and it earned him a two-minute penalty on the play. Murphy has one goal and four assists in 13 games this year.

Ryan Murphy scored his first NHL goal in Carolina's 3-2 win Thursday.

Murphy now has four points in seven games this season. Although we wouldn't count on him to maintain that pace, Murphy has a ton of offensive upside and is a nice guy to own in keeper leagues.

Ryan Murphy picked up his first NHL assist Sunday as the Hurricanes defeated Philadelphia 2-1.

Murphy played 16:02 minutes and was a plus-two on the evening. The talented offensive defenseman was drafted 12th overall in 2011 so he is worth looking at in deeper one year pools at this time. He should have been drafted in keeper pools as he could turn into quite the offensive threat in a couple of years.
