Actually, Alexander Khokhlachev remains in the Boston Bruins' system after all.

It appeared at first that he was part of the Jarome Iginla trade, but it turns out that the Calgary Flames captain was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins instead. This is the second time he almost left Boston's system.

Initial reports suggest that Alexander Khokhlachev should be okay after being hit in the head by the puck during Thursday's Subway Super Series game.

Khokhlachev has a goal and an assist in 19 KHL contests this season. "We’re not a really good team this year and I’m not scoring goals, but the experience is good for me," Khokhlachev said. "It’s tough to lose a lot and not score goals, but it’s fine. I come every day to rink and work hard and it will be good."

Alexander Khokhlachev has agreed to a three-year, entry-level contract with the Boston Bruins.

Joe Haggerty reports that Boston Bruins prospect Alexander Khokhlachev will play for Spartak in the KHL next season.

Khokhlachev will join his father Igor, who's in the team's front office. He's been dominant at the junior level so this could be a good challenge if he ends up returning to North America. Haggerty points out that the Bruins have until June 1, 2013 to sign him to an entry-level deal.

With the 40th pick overall the Boston Bruins selected Alexander Khokhlachev.

Khokhlachev raised his ranking this season by coming over to North America and playing an entire season in the OHL, potting 34 goals and 76 points in 67 for Windsor of the OHL. Khokhlachev is a hard-working, skilful player who is able to play over the entire 200 feet of ice and and likes the physical aspect of the game. His skating needs some work. NHL teams are wary of drafting Russians out of Europe as they are never sure whether they want to come over or have signed longer term deals in the KHL so the fact that Khokhlachev is playing in North America will only help his draft status.
