Alexander Khokhlachev played in his second career game and scored first career winner in Columbus on Friday night.

Khokhlachev was a late addition to the lineup when David Krejci couldn't go. He skated just 9:33 through the first 65 minutes and didn't register a shot, but he did deke Sergei Bobrovsky out of his skates to end the seven-round shootout. Welcome to the bigs, kiddo.

If you are looking for a sleeper pick in 2014-15 consider the Bruins' Alexander Khokhlachev.

The 20-year-old scored 21 goals and regsitered 57 points in his first North American pro season with Providence of the AHL. More impressive was his playoff showing. In 12 games with the Baby Bruins, Khokhlachev scored nine goals. He is an excellent skater, plays with some grit and has a scoring touch. Sounds like a recipe for success at the NHL level to us.

He posted two shots, two penalty minutes and one hit in 15:14 of ice time. Khokhlachev leads the Providence Bruins in scoring this season with 57 points in 63 games.

It appeared at first that he was part of the Jarome Iginla trade, but it turns out that the Calgary Flames captain was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins instead. This is the second time he almost left Boston's system.

Initial reports suggest that Alexander Khokhlachev should be okay after being hit in the head by the puck during Thursday's Subway Super Series game.

Khokhlachev has a goal and an assist in 19 KHL contests this season. "We’re not a really good team this year and I’m not scoring goals, but the experience is good for me," Khokhlachev said. "It’s tough to lose a lot and not score goals, but it’s fine. I come every day to rink and work hard and it will be good."

Alexander Khokhlachev is back in Canada, participating in the Super Series for Team Russia against fellow junior players in the CHL.

The second-round pick of the Boston Bruins in 2011 has one goal, one assist and a minus-5 rating in 19 games with Spartak Moscow in the KHL this season. He spent the previous two years in the OHL with the Windsor Spitfires.

Alexander Khokhlachev has agreed to a three-year, entry-level contract with the Boston Bruins.

Khokhlachev will still play for KHL Spartak in 2012-13. After that, he might battle for a roster spot for the 2013-14 campaign.

Joe Haggerty reports that Boston Bruins prospect Alexander Khokhlachev will play for Spartak in the KHL next season.

Khokhlachev will join his father Igor, who's in the team's front office. He's been dominant at the junior level so this could be a good challenge if he ends up returning to North America. Haggerty points out that the Bruins have until June 1, 2013 to sign him to an entry-level deal.
