Joel Armia notched his first career NHL goal in the Jets’ 4-1 win against the Sharks on Saturday night.

It’s the game-winner, too. Armia was sent to the Jets as part of the Evander Kane trade. He has played eight NHL games (seven this year with the Jets), and this counts as his first NHL point as well. Even though he is a former first-round pick with considerable upside, it’s too early to utilize him in yearly leagues. Drew Stafford, Nikolaj Ehlers and Mathieu Perreault picked up the other goals. Blake Wheeler had two assists.

Joel Armia was promoted to the third line during Tuesday's loss to Calgary.

He skated with Alex Burmistrov and Nikolaj Ehlers during the second period, which bumped Chris Thorburn to the fourth line. Armia has two shots and no points in three games with the Jets this year.

The Winnipeg Jets have assigned Joel Armia back to the minors.

The 22-year-old spent nine games with the Jets, but didn't suit up in any of them. The former first round pick has yet to make an impact in the NHL. Armia has three goals and seven points in 15 AHL games in '15-16.

The Jets have scratched Joel Armia, Adam Pardy and Paul Postma for Friday's game against the Blackhawks.

Armia hasn't played in a game with the Jets this season, but has offensive upside. Pardy and Postma are depth defensemen with no fantasy upside. Keep an eye on Armia in the coming years.

Joel Armia, Ben Chiarot and Paul Postma will each be scratched from Saturday's match with Colorado.

While Postma has played just twice this season, and Chiarot's biggest statistical contribution are his 33 hits over 13 games, Armia at least represents a ray of offensive hope. The 22-year-old forward has posted 22 goals and 67 points in 124 goals in the AHL since 2012-13. He has seven points in 15 games for Manitoba this season, so keep an eye on him should he warm up in Winnipeg.
