Jamie Oleksiak's 16-year-old sister, Penny, is making waves for Canada at the 2016 Olympic Games.
She anchored Canada to a bronze medal in the 4x100-metre relay on Saturday and she captured a silver medal in the 100-metre butterfly on Sunday. Jamie took to Twitter on Sunday night and he was speechless with pride: "I don't even know what to say right now, that was one of the most intense and amazing things I've seen." Perhaps her success will help inspire him in his push to land a permanent spot on the Stars' defense corp this season. Aug 8 - 9:37 AM

Jamie Oleksiak's recently signed one-way contract is a one-way deal.

Oleksiak will consequently receive $918,750 for his efforts in 2016-17 regardless of whether he plays with Dallas or in the AHL. He had two assists in 19 contests with Dallas last season.
Jul 13 - 10:38 PM

The Dallas Stars have inked Jamie Oleksiak to a one-year contract.

Oleksiak had two assists in 19 games with Dallas in 2015-16. He also had two assists in eight AHL contests. "Jamie brings size and a physical element to our backend," said Stars GM Jim Nill. "We're expecting him to have a solid summer of training and development and look forward to him competing for a regular spot in our lineup."
Jul 13 - 6:08 PM

Jamie Oleksiak will be a healthy scratch in Thursday's game against the Avalanche.

This will be his ninth consecutive game in the press box. The 23-year-old has just two assists in 19 games in 2015-16. Patrik Nemeth will also be scratched against Colorado. Tyler Seguin, Jason Demers, Mattias Janmark, Patrick Eaves, Brett Ritchie and Jason Spezza will miss the game due to injury.

Jamie Oleksiak and Travis Moen will be scratched against Nashville on Tuesday night.

Unfortunately with just 39 games played between them at this point in the season, there isn't much fantasy value in either Oleksiak or Moen.

Jamie Oleksiak tags back in Sunday against Ottawa.

This will be the young defender's 13th game of the season, and fourth in 2016. He's posted two points with 20 blocks, 21 PIMs, and 44 hits. Surely there's a better option on your waiver wire as a plug.
Mar 6 - 3:46 PM

Jamie Oleksiak and Travis Moen will both be scratched against the Devils on Friday night.

Unfortunately neither Oleksiak nor Moen boast any fantasy value as they've both played fewer than 20 games this season.

Mar 4 - 7:12 PM

Jamie Oleksiak will be a healthy scratch in Monday's game against Detroit.

So will forward Travis Moen. Newly acquired defenseman Kris Russell (lower body) and Patrick Eaves (illness) will also miss the game. Russell was acquired from the Calgary Flames earlier in the day.

Jamie Oleksiak and Jyrki Jokipakka will be scratches on Saturday night

Much to the consensus sigh of satisfaction by beat writers not having to spell out either defenders names in their game story, they will be scratched tonight when the Capitals square off against the Dallas Stars.
Feb 13 - 8:04 PM

Jamie Oleksiak is back with Dallas after finishing his conditioning stint in the minors.

He is projected to play in his 12th game with Dallas this season. Oleksiak has two assists and 21 penalty minutes in his previous 11 outings.
Feb 2 - 2:21 PM

The Dallas Stars have loaned Jamie Oleksiak to their AHL team for a conditioning stint.

The former first round pick has been a healthy scratch in all but 11 games this season, but sending him to the minors would require him going through waivers. The short-term loan ensures that they don't have to do that.
Jan 16 - 5:59 PM

Jamie Oleksiak and Patrik Nemeth will be scratched for Tuesday's match with the NY Rangers.

With just 18 combined games played through January, and little to show for their efforts, neither are worth your consideration for a depth roster slot.
Jan 5 - 6:41 PM

The Dallas Stars will have Jamie Oleksiak, Patrik Nemeth and Valeri Nichushkin watch Saturday night's game from the stands.

Oleksiak and Nemeth will serve as the healthy scratches, while Nichushkin will miss the game due to a lower-body injury.
Jan 2 - 7:06 PM

Coach Lindy Ruff has elected to forego any lineup changes for Tuesday's match with Columbus.

Which means that Jamie Oleksiak, Patrik Nemeth and Patrick Eaves will sit out once again. Unfortunately there isn't a lick of fantasy value between them.
Tue, Dec 29, 2015 06:48:00 PM

Jamie Oleksiak, Patrik Nemeth and Patrick Eaves will be scratched from Sunday's match with St. Louis.

Of the three, Eaves has seen the most time at 20 games. Which is more than the two defenders together. However he's lacking in fantasy value as well, so all thre ought to remain on the wire.
