Tyler Biggs treated his first pro season as a learning experience.
"The whole year was an experience for me, learning how how to become a professional, learning how to handle certain situations, handle adversity," he said. "I saw a lot of it this year, sometimes with injuries, sometimes not being in the lineup when you wanted to be." The 6-foot-3, 224-pound winger battled shoulder injuries in 2013-14 and contributed just nine points in 57 games with the Marlies in the AHL. Biggs was selected with the 22nd pick in the 2011 draft and if he makes the NHL then it will probably be as a bottom-six skater. Jun 6 - 8:47 AM

Tyler Biggs plans to emulate David Clarkson the best he can now that the ex-Devil is with the Leafs.

The Leafs' top pick from the 2011 draft has top-six upside and now an in-organization role model to look up to. "He’s a great power forward, a right winger, a guy that physically dominated and played with grit," Biggs said of Clarkson. "You look at him his past couple of years, he’s really put the numbers up as well. To be well-rounded like that is definitely a goal." It will help that the Marlies' AHL coach is Steve Spott, who coached Clarkson in junior. The feisty Biggs had 26 goals, 53 points and 55 penalty minutes last season.

Toronto prospects Tyler Biggs and Garret Sparks received invites to attend Team USA's selection camp for the 2013 World Junior Championship in Ufa, Russia.

Biggs has been impressive during his first season in the OHL, posting 15 goals and 16 assists in 30 games so far with Oshawa, while Sparks has been solid between the pipes for the Guelph Storm. The camp will feature 27 players with the final 23-player roster set to be announced on Dec. 23.

Tyler Biggs notched a goal and an assist in a 3-2 win for the Oshawa Generals over Peterborough Tuesday.

In his first OHL season as a 19-year-old, Biggs has recorded 14 goals and 15 assists for 29 points in 28 games. With 42 penalty minutes mixed in, he's showing just the right combination of skill and truculence to get himself noticed by Maple Leafs brass. Generals leading scorer Boone Jenner also found the back of the net in the win.

Tyler Biggs collected two goals, but Oshawa came up just short in its 4-3 loss to Ottawa on Wednesday night.

Biggs was taken with the 22nd pick in the 2011 draft by the Leafs. In his first year in the OHL after one year of college, he has eight goals and 13 points. The feisty winger also had four penalty minutes, which give him 25 on the year.

Tyler Biggs is a big reason why the Oshawa Generals have gotten off to a 6-1 start.

The Maple Leafs prospect has five goals and three assists and would've had a chance to show himself at NHL camp. "He’s playing a complete game as we hoped," said Leafs vice president and director of hockey operations Dave Poulin. "We liked it, too, that he is being challenged a few times by his coach (DJ Smith). If something happens, we’ve seen Tyler get sat him out a shift, but he responds."

Maple Leaf prospect Tyler Biggs is off to a big start with Oshawa Generals of the OHL.

The Buds' first-round pick of the 2011 draft has scored five goals and registered eight points in seven games with the Generals. Biggs also plays the game with emotion and an edge. He should be on your watch list.

Tyler Biggs is eager to make his OHL debut with Oshawa on Thursday night versus Peterborough.

"I'm really excited to get everything going," said Biggs, who was selected with the 22nd overall pick by Toronto in 2011. "I've been waiting all summer just to play hockey, to be part of something and I think we can do big things here." Generals head coach D.J. Smith expects to give Biggs plenty of ice time and help him prepare for the next level. He should fit in nicely on a team that already has Columbus Blue Jackets prospect Boone Jenner and Philadelphia Flyers 2012 first rounder Scott Laughton on the roster.

Tyler Biggs will attend training camp with the OHL's Oshawa Generals this week.

The decision was made mostly due to the NHL's ongoing collective bargaining agreement negotiations. He made the announcement on his Twitter page: "Excited for the move to Oshawa to get things going... Ready for this season to get started." He is eligible to play in the AHL as well, but a year in the junior ranks looks more likely at this point.

Tyler Biggs has inked a three-year, entry-level contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The 19-year-old, who Toronto selected 22nd overall in 2011, spent the 2011-12 season with Miami University (Ohio), where he posted nine goals, 17 points and 63 penalty minutes in 37 games. He has grit and some scoring ability that he'll get to develop in either the OHL or AHL in 2012-13 after he decided to end his college career. Before that he will try to earn a roster spot with the Maple Leafs out of training camp.

Tyler Biggs is expected to be a player of interest at Toronto's development camp.

The 22nd overall pick in 2011 chose to begin his professional career after an injury-shortened 2011-12 campaign with Miami University (Ohio). Biggs is eligible to play in the OHL or AHL if he doesn't earn a roster spot with the Maple Leafs out of training camp. "We'll see how it all falls into place," Leafs director of player development Jim Hughes said. "He'll wind up with the big club or the Marlies or the Generals, and that would be a fantastic spot for him where he can get plenty of minutes of ice time. He's a beast of a kid. We expect big things from him this summer."

Tyler Biggs has officially decided to leave the Miami University (Ohio) to begin his professional hockey career.

"It was a decision that me and my family took our time with," Biggs said. "Ultimately, it was the feeling that moving on and having that opportunity at the next level would be that much better for my development." The Leafs control his rights after selecting him with the 22nd overall pick in the 2011 NHL entry draft. He doesn't have a contract yet, but he's hoping to prove himself in training camp.

Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Tyler Biggs doesn't plan to return to Miami University (Ohio) for next season.

He will still be able to return to the college ranks if he doesn't sign a pro contract with the Leafs, but it's likely that his NCAA days are over. Biggs will probably play with Toronto in the NHL, in the AHL with the Marlies, or in OHL with Oshawa next year. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound forward was chosen in the first round, 22nd overall, in the 2011 draft by Toronto. He posted 17 points and 63 penalty minutes in 37 games with the RedHawks in 2011-12.
