Matt Puempel will tag in for Pavel Buchnevich against the Islanders on Thursday.
Per coach Alain Vigneault, "I just feel it's time to get him [Puempel] in a game." After Buchnevich put forth a "so-so game" by AV's account, this is a logical conclusion. Puempel has six goals and seven points in 18 games with the Rangers. Feb 16 - 5:53 PM

Look for Matt Puempel to play against his former Ottawa Senator teammates Sunday.

Puempel played 13 games for Ottawa before the Rangers claimed him off waivers earlier this week. He scored his first of the season in his Rangers debut Friday and will look to show his former mates that the Senators made a big mistake in letting him go after drafting him in the first round in 2011.

Matt Puempel scored in his Rangers debut on Friday in a 3-2 win over Philadelphia.

"They let you play here, they let you play to your strengths," Puempel said. "They know there are going to be mistakes. They're not barking at you every time you come off the ice. It's beneficial." It sounds like Puempel is a little bitter about how his time with the Senators went and he'll get a chance to play against his old teammates when Ottawa visits MSG on Sunday night.
