Matt Puempel picked up his fourth NHL goal during Saturday's 6-1 win over Boston.
Through 24 career NHL games, the 23-year-old Puempel has now posted just six points. So unless you're in a super duper deep pool, we'd leave him undrafted next season. Apr 9 - 3:48 PM

Date:

Matt Puempel and Patrick Wiercioch will be scratched against Buffalo on Friday.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem as though either youngster is in Coach Cameron's plans. Tonight marks just twice over the last nine games Puempel has played, while Wiercioch has played just thrice over the last 13 games.

Matt Puempel and Patrick Wiercioch will be scratched from Tuesday's match with Minnesota.

Including tonight, Puempel will have played just twice over the last eight games. While Wiercioch has seen just three games of action of the last dozen. At this time, it doesn't seem as though either fit in to Coach Cameron's plans.
Mar 15 - 7:08 PM

Matt Puempel and Patrick Wiercioch will be scratched from Saturday's match with Toronto.

Unfortunately neither pose any fantasy value. Puempel for example has posted 26 points in 31 games for AHL Binghamton, but has just two points in 16 games for Ottawa.
Mar 12 - 2:50 PM

Matt Puempel and Patrick Wiercioch will each be scratched against Carolina on Tuesday.

Unfortunately there isn't a lick of fantasy value between them. The 23-year-old forward has posted 26 points in 31 games with AHL Binghamton, but he's yet to put it together with Ottawa with just five points in 23 games.
Mar 8 - 6:26 PM

Matt Puempel will be scratched against the Maple Leafs on Saturday night.

Through 15 games this season Puempel has posted just two points and little else to his stat line. So we'd let him lie on the waiver wire until he proves he can hang.

Jan 27 - 10:46 AM

Matt Puempel will skate on Ottawa's third line against the Islanders on Friday night.

Puempel will skate to the left of Zack Smith and Curtis Lazar, and is quite intriguing if you're in a deep pool. Though the 22-year-old Puempel has yet to put it all together with the big boys, he seems to be improving down on the farm. This season he already has 13 goals and 24 points with just 15 PIMs in 29 games for AHL Binghamton. His previous career highs are 30 goals and 48 points with 94 PIMs in 70 games back in 2013-14. Quite a bit of maturation there.
Jan 22 - 6:37 PM

The Ottawa Senators have recalled Matt Puempel from the AHL and have made him a healthy scratch in Thursday's game against the New Jersey Devils.

The 22-year-old was Ottawa's first round pick, 24th overall, in 2011. He has one goal and two penalty minutes in 11 games this season.

Matt Puempel has been assigned to the minors.

Shane Prince was projected to stay with Ottawa because he has to clear waivers to be sent down. He will serve as the Senators' 13th forward and Puempel will start the season with Binghamton.

Matt Puempel and Shane Prince are still in a battle for the Senators' last forward spot.

Ottawa will break camp with 13 forwards and only one of Puempel and Prince will make the team. As well only one will play Saturday night against the Habs. After Saturday's game, one will be sent to the AHL. Right now it looks as if Prince has the upper hand on a roster spot. From a fantasy perspective, however, Puempel has more uspide. Stay tuned.
