Matt Puempel skated with Mika Zibanejad and Bobby Ryan during Wednesday's practice.

He was a healthy scratch in Tuesday's 7-5 loss to Nashville and could draw back into the lineup on Thursday. Puempel has one goal in six appearances with Ottawa this year.
Nov 12 - 9:00 AM

Matt Puempel has been called up by Ottawa.

He was summoned on an emergency basis as the Senators have been building up injuries up front. Puempel had two goals and one assist in 13 games with Ottawa last season.
Oct 26 - 6:45 PM

Matt Puempel has been assigned to the minors.

Shane Prince was projected to stay with Ottawa because he has to clear waivers to be sent down. He will serve as the Senators' 13th forward and Puempel will start the season with Binghamton.
Oct 7 - 3:18 PM

Matt Puempel and Shane Prince are still in a battle for the Senators' last forward spot.

Ottawa will break camp with 13 forwards and only one of Puempel and Prince will make the team. As well only one will play Saturday night against the Habs. After Saturday's game, one will be sent to the AHL. Right now it looks as if Prince has the upper hand on a roster spot. From a fantasy perspective, however, Puempel has more uspide. Stay tuned.

It appears that Matt Puempel is just fine after injuring his left arm in practice Friday.

The Senators were concerned when Puempel left the ice clutching his arm, but the roster hopeful was on the ice for practice Saturday morning with his Ottawa teammates. Puempel is competing for a fourth-line job with Alex Chiasson and Shane Prince and despite his obvious offensive skills, has little fantasy value for this season based on his predicted useage.

Matt Puempel says his high-ankle sprain did not hamper his offseason training.

Puempel said he felt 100% in June. "I feel great. There's been no problems with it at all. My testing was better than last year with lower body stuff," said Puempel. "I've been on the ice for a few weeks every day. It feels good." Puempel had 32 points in 51 games in the American Hockey League, while recording three points in 13 games in the NHL.

Matt Puempel still isn't fully recovered from the high ankle sprain he suffered last season.

The 22-year-old played in 13 games with the Sens last year, and there's a realistic chance he will start the season with the big club if he's healthy. Puempel is taking part in the Senators' development camp, but he won't be participating in contact drills.
Jul 5 - 10:24 AM

Matt Puempel (lower body injury) will be held out of Monday's tilt with the San Jose Sharks.

Puempel left Saturday’s game early after sustaining a lower body injury and will be unable to dress Monday night. He has just two goals and an assist in 13 games this season and should be considered day-to-day. Zach Smith and Colin Greening will dress in place of Puempel and Milan Michalek, who was also injured Saturday night and will be unable to suit up Monday.
Mar 23 - 5:22 PM

Matt Puempel (lower-body) left Saturday's game and did not return.

The 22-year-old has two goals and three points in 13 games this season. He should be considered day-to-day right now. The Senators also lost Milan Michalek in the game.

Matt Puempel was skating in practice with Mika Zibanejad and Bobby Ryan Saturday morning.

If Puempel gets to keep that gig for Saturday night's game against Toronto it will be a boost to his fantasy value. Meanwhile, leading scorer Mike Hoffman was scrimmaging on the fourth line with Alex Chiassson and David Legwand. If you have Hoffman, you may want to bench him for Saturday night's game as a precaution. Keep an eye on this situation.
Mar 21 - 12:00 PM

Matt Puempel's first NHL goal was the only marker for Ottawa in a 3-1 defeat at the hands of the Bruins on Tuesday night.

Puempel was a first round pick of the Sens in the 2011 draft and still has the potential for a solid career, but with just one point in his first seven games, he's not worth a look in fantasy leagues at the moment. Patrick Wiercioch and Jean-Gabriel Pageau picked up helpers on the goal.
Mar 10 - 11:15 PM

After sitting out Wednesday's tilt with the Jets, Puempel was reinserted into the Senators' lineup against the Sabres on Friday night.

Puempel replaced Colin Greening on the third line to the left of David Legwand and Alex Chiasson. The young forward has a bright future, but also zero points for the Sens through his first four games.

Matt Puempel will move back to the press box Wednesday night versus the Jets.

Puempel had skated in four of the last five games but will give way to Colin Greening Wednesday night. The 22-year-old former first round pick has played in just four career games and has yet to find the score sheet but has plenty of time to become a mainstay in the Senators lineup in future years. For this season though, he has no fantasy value.
Mar 4 - 5:03 PM

Matt Puempel will skate on the fourth line on Saturday night against the San Jose Sharks.

After sitting out a game, Puempel will skate to the right of Erik Condra and Jean-Gabriel Pageau. The young Puempel has just a hit and two shots through his first two NHL games, but he also owns 12 goals and 32 points in 51 games this season for AHL Binghamton.
