The Minnesota Wild won't be making a trade before today's 3:00 p.m. roster freeze, according to TSN's Bob McKenzie.
There was chatter about Minnesota looking to deal a defenseman like Jonas Brodin, Marco Scandella or Matt Dumba, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. They now risk losing one of them to Vegas in the expansion draft unless Wild GM Chuck Fletcher is able to pull off a side deal with Golden Knights GM George McPhee. Things are going to get interesting in Minnesota over the next few days. Jun 17 - 3:02 PM

According to TSN's Bob McKenzie, Jonas Brodin is "not likely" to be traded before this afternoon's 3:00 p.m. ET trade freeze.

Brodin's name has come up quite a bit over the last few days mainly because the Wild have too many defensemen going into next week's expansion draft. Rumors were swirling that Brodin could be part of a deal that would see Montreal's Alex Galchenyuk go the other way. It's not impossible that a trade for Brodin gets done today, but as McKenzie suggested, there's a better chance nothing happens on that front. Either way, we'll keep you updated on this situation.

Several teams have expressed an interest in acquiring Wild defenseman Jonas Brodin.

Earlier in the week, beat reporter Michael Russo mentioned that the Wild had received solid offers for Brodin. Now, Russo says four of the teams interested in Brodin are Montreal, Tampa Bay, Toronto and Dallas. It'll be interesting to see if Minnesota is able to pull the trigger on a trade before today's 3:00 p.m. ET deadline. The Wild are in a tough spot because they can only protect one of Matt Dumba, Marco Scandella and Brodin. It should be an interesting day for Minnesota.

The Minnesota Wild have reportedly received strong offers for Jonas Brodin, according to beat reporter Michael Russo.

The Wild will likely have to make a trade before next week's expansion draft because they'll only be protecting three defensemen (Ryan Suter, Jared Spurgeon and Matt Dumba). Earlier today, TSN's Bob McKenzie reported that the Montreal Canadiens could be interested in a Galchenyuk-for-Brodin swap. The Wild could opt to keep Brodin and deal Dumba instead.
Jun 15 - 9:29 PM

The Boston Bruins might attempt to acquire Jonas Brodin from Minnesota this summer.

Brodin had three goals and a career-high 25 points in 68 games last season while averaging 19:34 minutes per contest. He's still just 23 years old so he has some growth potential and he's got four seasons left on his reasonable six-year, $25 million deal. The Wild wouldn't part with him cheaply, but the Bruins might be willing to part with the 18th overall pick, which could be of particular interest to Minnesota as the Wild currently don't possess a first-round selection in 2017.
Jun 8 - 10:19 AM

Jonas Brodin and Joel Eriksson Ek will represent Sweden at the upcoming IIHF World Championships.

Brodin had 25 points in 68 games during the regular season for the Wild, while Erikssson Ek produced seven points in 15 NHL appearances.

Jonas Brodin will return to the Wild's blue line on Saturday against the Predators.

He's been out since Jan. 17th with a finger injury. Through 43 games the young veteran has posted three goals and 16 points with 68 blocks this season. He needs just four points to reach 20 for the first time.
Feb 18 - 3:47 PM

Jonas Brodin (finger) is getting closer to a return.

"I have no idea right now," coach Bruce Boudreau said when asked for an exact timetable. "I'm hoping sooner than later. It looks like he's skating fine. He started taking slap shots today. I have to believe it's in the not-too-distant future." Brodin, who hasn't played since Jan. 17, is still skating with the team.
Feb 15 - 2:49 PM

Jonas Brodin (finger) has been moved to the injured reserve list.

Brodin has already been sidelined for nearly a month, so he can be activated whenever he's ready. That being said, he's projected to be out for about another week.

Feb 10 - 1:41 PM

Jonas Brodin (finger) has been skating regularly, but he is still roughly 10 days away from being ready to return.

Brodin hasn't touched any pucks since breaking his finger on Jan. 17, so that will be the next step in his recovery. He has missed the last nine games and the 10th will come Wednesday night.
Feb 8 - 3:38 PM

Jonas Brodin will miss a minimum of four weeks due to a broken finger.

His 16 points (three goals, 13 assists) in 43 games this season is already far better than the seven points he produced in 68 appearances last year.

Jan 18 - 11:51 AM

Jonas Brodin will play in his 300th career NHL game on Thursday.

The 23-year-old defender has posted 18 goals and 68 points along with 172 PIMs and 477 blocks. Not too shabby at all. Before long he'll likely start cracking the Wild's top-10's in several categories.
