He will play for Detroit's minor-league affiliate in their playoff run after the Red Wings were eliminated in Round 1 of the NHL postseason by Boston. He sat so that Todd Bertuzzi could make his first appearance of these playoffs. Bertuzzi may stay in the lineup after his screen in front of Boston goalie Tuukka Rask helped Niklas Kronwall score on the power play.

Tomas Jurco scored a goal for the Red Wings in a 4-3 shootout loss to Pittsburgh Wednesday.

Jurco's eighth marker is a far cry from the offensive production amassed by fellow youngsters Gustav Nyquist and Tomas Tatar, but he's considered part of that group nonetheless. Jakub Kindl and Riley Sheahan also scored for the Wings in the defeat.

Tomas Jurco will be back in Detroit's lineup on Thursday after missing seven games with a rib injury.

He's slated to join David Legwand and Johan Franzen on the top line, which bumps Daniel Alfredsson down to the third unit with Darren Helm and Joakim Andersson. Although, coach Mike Babcock said that Jurco might end up back with Riley Sheahan and Tomas Tatar at some point.

He said he was injured by a cross-check from Columbus' Blake Comeau in the second period of Tuesday's 4-1 loss. Detroit called up Teemu Pulkkinen from the minors on Wednesday to replace Jurco on the roster.

He scored his fifth goal of the season and his third in his last five games. In 23 appearances with the Red Wings, he has produced 10 points.

Tomas Jurco scored Slovakia's only goal in a 3-1 loss to Slovenia Saturday in Group A play at Sochi.

The Red Wing rookie scored on the power play with only 18 seconds left in the game to deny Slovenia goalie Robert Kristan a shutout. Zdeno Chara registered one of the two assists on the marker. The Slovaks are now 0-2 in their group and have no hope at advancing to the medal round. In somewhat of an understatement, a disappointed Jurco had the following to say of Slovakia's plight: "I don't think we're thinking of winning the gold medal.Everybody knows where we are at".

Tomas Jurco scored a goal in Detroit's 4-2 loss on Saturday.

It was Jurco's first goal since Dec. 21. The 21-year-old forward has bounced between the AHL and NHL this season. He's been a point-per-game player in the minors and has three goals and four assists in 19 contests with Detroit.
