Apr 27 - 10:42 AM

Christopher Gibson allowed three goals on 18 shots in Sunday's 5-2 loss to Philadelphia.

Gibson didn't start the game, but he came in at the beginning of the second period because the Islanders wanted to give Thomas Greiss some rest. Gibson came into the game with the scored tied at two which means he'll take the loss for this one. The 23-year-old finishes the season with a 1-1-1 record to go along with a 3.40 goals-against-average and a .882 save percentage.
Apr 10 - 10:54 PM

Christopher Gibson will face Buffalo on Saturday night.

Apr 9 - 1:26 PM

It was a magical night for Christopher Gibson on Tuesday.

Gibson turned aside 29 of 32 shots, including an overtime breakaway by Evgeny Kuznetsov shortly before Thomas Hickey made it 4-3 for the win over Washington. It was the rookie netminder's first start and win of his career, and also punched New York's ticket to the playoffs. Wow!
Apr 6 - 12:28 AM

Christopher Gibson will get his first NHL start Tuesday against Washington.

The Islanders play five games in seven days this week and two goaltenders (Jaroslav Halak and Jean-Francois Berube) are injured, so giving Thomas Greiss some time off is a wise move. Gibson has a 19-11-6 record this season in the AHL to go with a .909 save percentage and a 2.70 GAA. He made a relief appearance against Pittsburgh on Jan. 2 and stopped 16 of 17 shots.

Christopher Gibson has been returned to the minors.

The move probably means that Jaroslav Halak is ready to return to the lineup from an upper-body injury. Gibson made his NHL debut in a relief appearance against Pittsburgh on Jan. 2 and he stopped 16 of the 17 shots he faced.
Jan 5 - 1:59 PM

The New York Islanders have recalled goaltender Christopher Gibson for Sunday's match with Toronto.

Gibson will backup Thomas Greiss as Jaroslav Halak sits on IR. The 23-year-old netminder is 11-5-3 with a .928 save percentage and a 1.99 GAA for AHL Bridgeport. Which is mighty impressive if nothing else, but he's not going to get a chance in the show until either Halak or Greiss are well out of the picture.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have dealt Christopher Gibson to the New York Islanders.

Gibson had a 2.42 GAA and .921 save percentage in 45 games with the AHL's Toronto Marlies last season. He was included in a package for Michael Grabner as part of the Maple Leafs' efforts to rid themselves of contracts to get some breathing room below the limit of 50. It is a bit surprising to see Gibson get moved in such a trade though given that he's just 22 years old and is coming off of a strong campaign. He was taken with the 49th overall pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

The Toronto Maple Leafs signed Christopher Gibson to a three-year, entry-level contract.

The Buds continue to raid former Los Angeles Kings netminders, as they also grabbed Jonathan Bernier this summer. Obviously, it might take Gibson time to push the likes of Bernier and other guys in the team's system.
