Vladislav Namestnikov scored his first professional goal on Saturday.
Namestnikov was selected 27th overall by the Lightning in the 2011 Draft. It was his second game back after he suffered a shoulder injury that forced him to miss 24 games. He had 22 goals and 71 points with the London Knights after a 30 goal, 68 point season in his draft year. Namestnikov is a playmaker and if he develops, he could be a top-six forward. Vladislav Namestnikov may be an intriguing player to watch at training camp.

Depending on when the season starts, the 2011 first-round draft pick of the Lightning could be in the NHL sooner rather than later following two impressive years in the OHL with London. "Vlady can play on any of the top four lines in your organization because he's dedicated and can kill penalties," said Tampa's director of amateur scouting Al Murray. "He can play with top offensive players, so he has a lot of versatility moving forward. He'll be in competition with others for our NHL team since we have a third-line center spot open, or he'll be on our AHL team."

Vladislav Namestnikov, who just finished participating in the Lightning's development camp, has impressed GM Steve Yzerman.

Namestnikov was selected by the Lightning with the 27th overall pick in the 2011 NHL entry draft. The camp involved a 3-on-3 tournament, which Namestnikov's team won. "He pretty much had what (scouting director) Al (Murray) described to me, a very smart and creative player," Yzerman said. "You don't see a lot of 3-on-3 in a lot of hockey games, but you see the smarts, the puck-handling ability, the good skills and can really dangle the puck. He's a good skater, and he's still a young guy and will fill out, but we feel we have a real good prospect and we're happy with the pick." Look for Namestnikov to spend the 2011-12 season in the OHL.

Tampa GM Steve Yzerman has ties to the team's first round pick Vladislav Namestnikov.

Yzerman played with Namestnikov's uncle Slava Kozlov in Detroit for many years. "I know his family. I know his background," Yzerman said. "When (Tampa Bay's scouts) started talking about him, it kind of excited me because he comes from a very good family."Namestnikov will likely return to junior for anther season, however, when his NHL ready he will be a strong two-way asset.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have selected Vladislav Namestnikov with the 27th overall pick in the 2011 NHL entry draft.

Namestikov is a deceptively quick forward who is building himself a reputation of being a solid two-way forward with great vision and anticipation. Perhaps his greatest asset, however, is his playmaking ability. His above-average level of patience gives him the extra time needed on the ice to make the right play. The only knocks on the 18-year-old London Knight is that he has shown some inconsistency and lacks the physical capability to immediately make the jump to the pro level.
