Oscar Klefbom (shoulder) logged 23:05 minutes of ice time, including 1:20 on the power play in his return to the lineup, on Friday night.
Despite the fact that that is good news, it is important to note that Klefbom may end up sharing much of the power-play quarterbacking duties with a now healthy Andrej Sekera, who logged 2:06 with the man advantage Friday night. Just something to keep in mind when setting your fantasy lineups. Sat, Dec 30, 2017 12:59:00 PM

The upper-body injury that Oscar Klefbom has been dealing with is a shoulder problem.

Klefbom has missed three straight games due to the injury, but it's been bothering him since the 2017 playoffs. He played through for the postseason and it was still an issue once the 2017-18 campaign began. Klefbom has seen his offensive production take a hit this season and his nagging shoulder injury could be the primary cause. "He’s had some problems," said Oilers coach Todd McLellan. "Not severe enough to keep him out of the lineup, but bad enough to affect his play and his mental state. He needed the time. He looks a lot more chipper, more confident now. I think the time off helped him" McLellan added that Klefbom should return on Friday.

Oscar Klefbom (undisclosed) has been placed on injured reserve.

Klefbom had one assist and a plus-3 rating in 19:41 of ice time against San Jose on Monday night. His season average for playing time has been 22:46. It's unclear what is ailing Klefbom at this time, but we'll keep you posted. It is believed that he has been playing through something for most of the year.

Oscar Klefbom was back at practice Saturday after missing Friday's game with the flu.

Klefbom has had a tough go of it this season with only two goals and six points in 22 games. He will quarterback the first power play and play with Matt Benning Sunday during five-on-five action. Get him in your lineup.

Oscar Klefbom picked up a goal, an assist and a plus-3 rating with a blocked shot in 20:14 of ice time in Tuesday's rout of the Golden Knights.

Klefbom is slowly pulling out of his season-long funk. He posted just one goal with three points through his first 15 contests, but he has equaled that production with a goal and two helpers over his past three outings. Despite the lack of offense he has helped fantasy owners with 41 blocked shots and 12 hits through 18 contests.

The Edmonton Oilers are only 4-33 on the power play this season and Oscar Klefbom's spot on the first unit may be in jeopardy.

The Oilers were 0-9 last week and Klefbom has only one power play point despite leading the team in ice time with the man-advantage. Yup, the Oilers have used Klefbom more than Connor McDavid, albeit by only three seconds. Nevertheless, the Oilers have to do something after 10 games to get the pp going.

Oscar Klefbom was a minus-four Saturday.

And his tough season continues. Klefbom had 12 goals and 38 points last season and many thought that his stats would improve this season but that has not been the case. The defenseman has only two assists in 10 games and is a minus-six. Expect him to break out of his slump sooner rather than later and try to grab him from some disgruntled owner as he is a fantasy asset.

An undisclosed injury may be hurting Oscar Kelfbom's shooting accuracy this season.

After just nine games, Klefbom has missed the net on 21 shots, which leads all defensemen the NHL. In 82 games last season, Klefbom only missed 82 shots. You may want to consider benching Klefbom, who only has two assists this season, until he is recovered from what is believed to be a bump or bruise.

Oilers assistant coach Jimmy Johnson has challenged Oscar Klefbom to record at least 250 shots this season.

Klefbom finished with 201 SOG in 2015-16 and he got off to a great start this season with nine shots in the opener. "I talked to Jimmy (Johnson, assistant coach) the other day about having a mindset and a goal just to shoot as much as I can, just to have something to strive for," said Klefbom. "It was a pretty good result last year (38 points on 201 shots) and we want to aim for that again, if not better." He's a decent bet to reach the 40-point mark this time around, especially if he maintains that commitment to firing the puck.

Oscar Klefbom was held off the scoresheet in Wednesday's 3-0 win against the Flames, but he posted a plus-3 rating with a game-high nine shots on goal and a blocked shot.

Klefbom was very active in the offensive zone, even outshooting superstar Connor McDavid by two. The Swedish rearguard squeezed off 201 shots across 82 games last season and he looks determined to best that mark this year. While he didn't tally any markers in the opener, he was very busy on the man advantage last season and that's not expected to change in 2017-18.
