Oscar Klefbom (shoulder) expects to be ready for the 2018-19 season.
Klefbom said his shoulder has bothered him for years, but it was nothing structural or a labrum issue. "They went in and basically vacuumed out the shoulder," he said of the surgery. "There was 22 bone fragments. I got great news with only six week recovery so I will be ready and healthy next year." Apr 8 - 2:26 PM

Date:

Oscar Klefbom underwent successful shoulder surgery Thursday.

Klefbom, who won't play again this season, is expected to be cleared for workouts in five to six weeks. He could be a solid candidate for a bounce-back year in 2018-19.
Mar 22 - 9:41 PM

Oscar Klefbom will be out for the remainder of the season as he will undergo shoulder surgery.

Klefbom has had a wonky shoulder all season and underwent a minor procedure last week but he will need extensive surgery as he should be well enough to return for the start of the 2018-19 season. Klefbom will end the season with five goals and 21 points in 66 games, a far cry from his 12 goal and 38 point season a year ago. Let's blame it on the shoulder and figure he will be back in form next season.
Mar 19 - 7:54 AM

Oscar Klefbom scored a goal with an assist in Wednesday's 4-3 overtime loss against the visiting San Jose Sharks.

The rearguard also chipped in with two blocked shots across 19:46 of ice time. Klefbom was back in the lineup after missing a pair of games due to a minor procedure on his shoulder. He was able to extend his point streak to three games, posting two goals with four points after a five-game scoreless stretch.
Mar 15 - 1:18 AM

Oscar Klefbom will be back in the lineup on Wednesday night.

Klefbom missed two games after he had a minor procedure on his ailing shoulder. He may have another procedure done soon to "clean up" his shoulder and at that point he'll be done for the rest of the season. Klefbom hasn't been right for most of the year, so it's strange that he's even still trying to play.
Mar 14 - 1:51 PM

Oscar Klefbom has been ruled out for the next two games after undergoing a procedure on his shoulder.

The procedure was done in order to determine if Klefbom needed more time off. With the Oilers out of the playoff picture, they have no need to rush him back into the lineup.
Mar 10 - 4:20 PM

Oscar Klefbom scored a game-winning goal in overtime on Monday against the Coyotes, finishing with a plus-1 rating, six shots on goal and two blocked shots.

The Coyotes inexplicably left him alone in the extra session and he buried one into a mostly open net, beating Darcy Kuemper for just his fourth goal of the season. It was Klefbom's first goal since Dec. 9, a span of 34 games. It was also his first at Rogers Place dating back to Nov. 14 against Vegas.
Mar 6 - 12:09 AM

Oscar Klefbom picked up an assist with four blocked shots in Monday's 6-2 win against the Lightning.

Klefbom missed a little time due to a shoulder injury in December, but he has still logged 103 blocked shots through 47 outings to rank in the Top 30 in the category. The rearguard has managed just three goals and 12 points and he still is well into the negative in plus/minus rating, but he can be useful in deeper fantasy pools for his willingness to sacrifice the body and get in front of shots.
Feb 5 - 11:54 PM

Oscar Klefbom (shoulder) logged 23:05 minutes of ice time, including 1:20 on the power play in his return to the lineup, on Friday night.

Despite the fact that that is good news, it is important to note that Klefbom may end up sharing much of the power-play quarterbacking duties with a now healthy Andrej Sekera, who logged 2:06 with the man advantage Friday night. Just something to keep in mind when setting your fantasy lineups.

The upper-body injury that Oscar Klefbom has been dealing with is a shoulder problem.

Klefbom has missed three straight games due to the injury, but it's been bothering him since the 2017 playoffs. He played through for the postseason and it was still an issue once the 2017-18 campaign began. Klefbom has seen his offensive production take a hit this season and his nagging shoulder injury could be the primary cause. "He’s had some problems," said Oilers coach Todd McLellan. "Not severe enough to keep him out of the lineup, but bad enough to affect his play and his mental state. He needed the time. He looks a lot more chipper, more confident now. I think the time off helped him" McLellan added that Klefbom should return on Friday.

Oscar Klefbom was back at practice Saturday after missing Friday's game with the flu.

Klefbom has had a tough go of it this season with only two goals and six points in 22 games. He will quarterback the first power play and play with Matt Benning Sunday during five-on-five action. Get him in your lineup.
