Oscar Klefbom (leg) will not be able to return before the end of the season.
Klefbom last played on Dec. 11. He originally was sidelined with a broken finger, but later suffered two infections to his leg and had minor surgery. The silver lining is that he should be fine for the 2016-17 campaign. "From what I’ve been told when Oscar shows up training camp next season, we won’t even be talking about this," said McLellan. "If our team had played well enough to give ourselves a shot at the playoffs, maybe Oscar would have been out there. Right now, it makes no sense to put him on the ice and have it (cured) to the just about line and then have it go back. Let’s let it heal." Apr 5 - 9:27 AM

Oscar Klefbom (leg) is at the point where he's in full gear when he skates.

Klefbom, who hasn't played since Dec. 11, was originally out with a broken finger, but he later suffered two infections and had minor surgery. At this point the Oilers are just hoping that they can get him into some games before the season ends so that he can enter the summer on a positive note.

The Edmonton Oilers are expecting Oscar Klefbom (finger) to return after the All-Star break.

It's unclear when he'll return, but it won't be before early February. The 22-year-old has missed each of Edmonton's last 12 games since suffering a broken finger. He has four goals and 12 points in 30 games this season.

Unfortunately for the Edmonton Oilers, Oscar Klefbom will not be returning any time soon per Coach Todd McLellan.

In addition to Oscar Klefbom's broken knuckle, he has a lower-body injury.

Oscar Klefbom's hand injury is less serious than what was originally reported.

General manager of the Edmonton Oilers Peter Chiarelli updated Oscar Klefbom's status on Sunday, indicating that the hand injury the 22-year-old suffered on Friday is not as significant as it was originally thought. Klefbom was believed to have broken a finger, but it appears as though he may join the Oilers on their upcoming four game road trip. Klefbom has four goals and 12 points in 30 games.

Do not expect to see Oscar Klefbom (fractured finger) in the Edmonton lineup in the near future.

A fractured finger is not a good injury to have for a blueliner although we guess it would be worse for a goalie. Klefbom has four goals and 12 points in 30 games so you will have to look elsewhere to replace his offense in the near future.

Oscar Klefbom broke his finger Friday in the second period and did not return.

Klefbom played only 11:55 but still led all Oilers and Rangers with seven shots on goal. Klefbom is a nice player as the former first round pick in 2011 has four goals and 12 points in 30 games. It's unlikely he will play during the Oilers upcoming four game road trip so bench him for the next week at least.
