Boone Jenner has been making a good impression with Springfield of the AHL.
"To me, he's an improved player from what I saw at the end of last season (five games)," coach Brad Larsen said. "And I liked what I saw last year. He's just grown a lot. He's a confidence player, a big strong player. His speed has improved, and that's the No. 1 thing I've recognized. He's not lightning-fast. He'll never be that guy. But he's such a hard worker, and he's got enough speed to be where he needs to be." Jenner has two goals and an assist in six playoff games. He was a stud with the Oshawa Generals of the OHL this season as he had 45 goals and 82 points in 57 games. May 12 - 9:07 AM

Boone Jenner scored the game winner Sunday as Springfield defeated Connecticut 4-3.

It was Jenner's first AHL point and it occurred in his second game. The Blue Jackets are quite high on the all-round center and he could appear in an NHL game before the end of the season. He had 45 goals and 82 points in 57 OHL games and played for Team Canada at the World Juniors although he picked up a three game suspension for a charge on Jesper Petterssen in a tune-up game before the start of the Worlds.

The Columbus Blue Jackets want Boone Jenner to prove himself in the AHL before he gets to make his NHL debut.

"I think with where our team is right now, competing for the playoffs and in general, everybody has to earn their spot on the team," Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen said. "He’s a great young prospect, and we have a team in Springfield that we think is going to go far in the playoffs, so I think that’s the right place for him to start right now." All the same, it wouldn't be surprising to see him play in a couple games for the Blue Jackets this season.

Boone Jenner will report to AHL Springfield.

Jenner has 45 goals and 82 points in 56 OHL games this season. He might end making his NHL debut this season, but if he plays in over five games with the Blue Jackets than this will count as the first season of his entry-level deal.
Apr 11 - 10:47 AM

Boone Jenner "could" get recalled to the Blue Jackets if his OHL season ends early enough, according to The Columbus Dispatch's Aaron Portzline.

There are just two games remaining in Oshawa's regular season. Jenner, 19, the team's second-round pick in the 2011 draft, has 44 goals and 37 assists on the season. As voted on by OHL coaches, the prospect was also named the hardest worker, best faceoff man and second-best body checker in the league.
Mar 13 - 9:27 PM

Boone Jenner will not make the Columbus Blue Jackets' opening game roster.

Jenner has 30 goals and 54 points in 30 OHL games. He should be a strong candidate to make the team in 2013-14.

Boone Jenner started training camp centering the fourth line.

Jenner is a two-way center who was leading the OHL in goals before he left the Oshawa Generals in December to play for Canada at the World Juniors. He started ahead of former first round pick Ryan Johansen who saw duty on the fifth line but Johansen projects to be a top two center and there is no reason at this time to have him in a checking role. Jenner will end up being a good second or third center as he knows how to play defensively and can play well offensively.
Jan 14 - 7:24 AM

Boone Jenner will be invited to the Columbus Blue Jackets' training camp.

Whether he sticks with the big club "will be determined by his performance," said John Davidson who is now the new president of hockey operations with the team. Jenner was selected in the second round of the 2011 draft by the Blue Jackets and not far from making the jump to the pro level.
Jan 6 - 2:14 PM

Boone Jenner returned from his three-game ban on Monday in Canada's 4-1 win over Russia in world junior play.

He was suspended for a pre-tournament hit on Sweden's Jesper Pettersson and finally got to play in his first game. Team Canada coach Steve Spott was glad to have him back in the lineup and his return to active duty gives the Canadians 13 forwards to work with again. "He brings more of a forecheck presence," Spott said. "We want to be an aggressive team on the forecheck and he gives you that element. He's going to be a tremendous leader one day for the Blue Jackets, and he is a tremendous leader for us right now." He didn't score in the match, but won nine of 16 faceoffs, was credited with four shots and of course threw some hits.

Boone Jenner has received a three-game suspension by the IIHF for his late hit on Swedish defenseman Jesper Pettersson during a World Junior Championship tune-up game.

As a result, Jenner will not be eligible to play for Canada in their contests against Germany, Slovakia, and America. He will be allowed to return for Canada's game against Russia to wrap-up the Preliminary Round. Pettersson is out of the tournament with a fractured wrist and dislocated shoulder.

Even if the NHL lockout ends, Boone Jenner has been committed to play for Canada at the 2013 World Junior Championship, assuming he makes the team's final roster.

Jenner is the OHL's co-leader with 27 goals in 32 games this season. He's projected to earn a roster spot and possibly center the team's third line. According to TSN's Bob McKenzie, Hockey Canada has been informed that Scott Harrington (Pittsburgh), Ty Rattie (St. Louis) and Morgan Rielly (Toronto) will also stay with Canada if they make the final cut.
