Mark Scheifele scored a pair of goals in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 3 of the Western Conference Final.
Scheifele tied the game at one at the 5:28 mark of the second period, but Vegas' James Neal restored his team's lead just 12 seconds later. The Jets forward then added a third-period tally to cut his team's deficit to 3-2, but that's as close as they'd come to tying the game. Scheifele finished the night with four penalty minutes and five shots on goal in 20:10 of ice time. The 25-year-old has scored five times in his last four contests. Mark Scheifele credits former NHLer and current fitness guru Gary Roberts with helping to turn him into the player he is today.

"It started with Gary (Roberts), my first year with him," Scheifele said. "Since then, I've just continued to try to learn about nutrition, continued to learn about training. That's an ongoing learning curve." He has worked with Roberts for the past five years. Scheifele has been a star in the NHL for the last three seasons and now he's shining in the playoffs. He leads all players with 12 goals in 13 games.

Mark Scheifele picked up a goal and an assist in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 1 of the Western Conference Final.

The Jets opened the game by scoring three goals in the first 7:35 of action and they never looked back. Scheifele registered the primary assist on Dustin Byfuglien's tally to make it 1-0 for the Jets. He then added a goal of his own at the 9:54 mark of the second frame to make it 4-1. Scheifele finished the night with an even rating, one shot on goal and five hits in 20:26 of ice time. The 25-year-old has 12 goals and 18 points in 13 games this postseason. Patrik Laine and Joel Armia also found the back of the net for the Jets. Winnipeg leads this best-of-seven series 1-0. They'll host Game 2 on Monday night.

Scheifele gave the Jets a 3-1 lead in the second period when he buried a one-timer past Nashville's Juuse Saros. He then added an empty-netter with just over 2:30 remaining in regulation. Scheifele ended up scoring seven goals on the road in this series, which is an NHL record. He finished Game 7 with a plus-2 rating, two shots on goal, three hits and three blocked shots in 19:10 of ice time. The 25-year-old has 11 goals and 16 points in 12 games this postseason. Paul Stastny (twice) and Tyler Myers also found the back of the net for Winnipeg. The win allows the Jets to advance to the Western Conference Final against the Vegas Golden Knights.

The 25-year-old has picked up at least two points in six of his last seven games. He's racked up nine goals and 14 points in 10 games this postseason. The Jets now have a 3-2 lead in this best-of-seven series. Winnipeg will now head back home with a chance to punch their ticket to the Western Conference Final on Sunday night.

Speaking to the media after practice, Mark Scheifele said he was not involved in the incident that led to Blake Wheeler being kicked out of practice.

First reports stated that Wheeler was sticking up for Scheifele who was getting cross-checked by teammate Ben Chiarot. Hwoever, Scheifele has refuted this and is now saying he was not involved at all and was simply acting as a 'peacemaker'. High intensity practices are good for all teams but hopefully this won't lead to a locker room problem heading into the post-season.
