Mark Scheifele scored his fourth goal of the season in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Dallas Stars.
Scheifele cut the Jets' deficit to 3-2 with 10 seconds remaining in regulation, but it was too little too late at that point. The young forward is off to a hot start, as he has seven points in six games this season. He's one of the better young players in the league and needs to be in starting lineups whenever Winnipeg is in action. Joel Armia also scored for the Jets. Oct 26 - 12:43 AM

Mark Scheifele scored his second goal of the season and had his first assist, but it was not enough in Saturday night’s 4-3 loss to the Minnesota Wild.

Schiefele drew the Jets to within one with 19 seconds remaining on the clock, but the play went under review. Mathieu Perreault provided an assist, but crashed into Devan Dubnyk during the play. It was determined this was not goaltender interference and the point stood. Despite a frenzied ending, Jets coach Paul Maurice said that it was a lack of chaos that lost the game. ''All things open up after chaos gets created and we didn't create enough chaos in the offensive zone to create some of the plays we were looking for,'' Maurice said.

Mark Scheifele netted the game-winning goal in overtime to cap Winnipeg's comeback 5-4 overtime win against Carolina.

Sep 30 - 10:53 PM

Mark Scheifele learned from his experience at the World Cup of Hockey.

"I don't know if it there are specific things, but playing with certain guys and with me being a center, now I can maybe empathize with what a winger is doing," said Scheifele. "The biggest thing for me was to get to play against the best guys in the world and be a part of that." He skated on the right side for most of the tournament on a line with Connor McDavid and Auston Matthews. When Scheifele gets back with the Jets he is penciled in to begin the regular season between Blake Wheeler and Nikolaj Ehlers.
Sep 27 - 9:33 AM

Mark Scheifele has agreed to an eight-year, $49 million contract extension with the Winnipeg Jets.

That works out to be a $6.125 million annual cap hit. He was a restricted free agent after completing his entry-level contract. Scheifele broke out last season with 29 goals and 61 points in 71 contests. He's got the potential to get even better over the next couple of seasons and really make that cap hit look like a bargain for the Jets. Obviously, Winnipeg is also taking a risk here given the length of the deal and his still somewhat small sample size, but Scheifele's a player worth taking that kind of chance on.
Jul 8 - 5:29 PM

May 30 - 8:30 AM

Mark Scheifele believes "the more hockey you play, the better you are" so he jumped at the chance to compete in the World Championship with Team Canada.

"Well, I'm a hockey player," he said. "I want to play as much as I can. Obviously, you want to be playing at this time of year, in the Stanley Cup playoffs and fighting your way with your club team through the playoffs. When you're not doing that, you want to be playing and to be able to represent your country, come overseas and play in this tournament, you can learn a lot of things from it." He suited up for Canada in 2014, where he notched two goals and four assists in eight games. Scheifele recorded career highs in 2015-16 with 29 goals and 61 points in 71 games.
May 5 - 9:28 AM

Mark Scheifele finished the 2015-16 season on a 10-game point streak.

Scheifele fell just short of hitting the 30-goal mark, but he took a huge step forward in 2015-16. He surpassed his previous career-highs in goals and points by a wide margin. The 23-year-old finished the year with 29 goals and 61 points in 71 games this season. His point totals have steadily increased in each of his first three seasons (34, 49, 61). If that trend continues, he could become of the better point-producing forwards in the league.
