Magnus Hellberg may get a start in net for the Rangers before Henrik Lundqvist returns from injury.

Coach Alain Vigneault wouldn't show his cards when asked about Hellberg but he could still go. "At some point, logic would say [Hellberg] should get a game," Vigneault said, "depending on how quick Hank comes back." Stay tuned as Hellberg is sitting on the bench while Antti Raanta plays.

Mar 18 - 10:23 AM

Magnus Hellberg has been called up on an emergency basis.

This was to be expected. The Rangers sent Hellberg to the minors on Tuesday, but only because they had a gap in their schedule. With Henrik Lundqvist still out with a lower-body injury, Hellberg will continue to serve as the Rangers' number two goaltender.
Mar 16 - 10:14 AM

Magnus Hellberg has been assigned to the minors.

Mar 14 - 2:41 PM

There is no guarantee that Magnus Hellberg will play at all during his recall.

Hellberg is expected to be with the Rangers for two-three weeks while Henrik Lundqvist recovers from a lower body injury suffered on Tuesday. The Rangers play a couple of back-to-back games during the next two weeks but coach Alain Vigneault said that he will take it one game at a time. "I’m going on a game-to-game basis, but I would say to you that Antti has wanted an opportunity here to play more than the amount of games he’s playing," Vigneault said. "Our games, other than back-to-backs, are pretty spread out. So we’ll take it a game at a time, see how he feels, and go from there."
