C | 1 | Eric Staal ActiveEric Staal and the Minnesota Wild were blanked 2-0 in Tuesday's loss to the Winnipeg Jets. The Wild were able to keep the game close, but they were never able to solve Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck. To make matters worse for Staal, he also took a nasty cross-check to the head from Josh Morrissey that went uncalled by the officials. The veteran finished the night with a minus-1 rating and three shots on goal in 20:12 of ice time. The 33-year-old has one goal and one assist in four postseason games. The Wild now find themselves down 3-1 in this best-of-seven series. A loss in Winnipeg on Friday night would end Minnesota's season. Apr 17 |
Mikko Koivu ActiveMikko Koivu contributed a pair of assists in Sunday's 6-2 win over Winnipeg in Game 3. Koivu assisted on power-play goals by Mikael Granlund and Zach Parise in the first period. He has picked up at least one helper in each of Minnesota's three playoff games. Koivu has four points in the series so far. Apr 16
Joel Eriksson Ek ActiveJoel Eriksson Ek found the back of the net in a 3-0 win over Edmonton on Monday night. Eriksson Ek posted an empty-net goal with 44 seconds left in the contest. He didn't have a point in his previous four outings. Eriksson Ek has six goals and 16 points through 72 matches this year. Apr 3
Matt Cullen ActiveMatt Cullen scored a goal in Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the Winnipeg Jets in Game 1 of the postseason. The Wild went into the third period trailing 1-0, but they managed to get goals from Cullen and Zach Parise before the four-minute mark of the frame. Unfortunately for the Wild, they allowed Patrik Laine (2-2) and Joe Morrow (3-2) to score the game-tying and go-ahead goals for Winnipeg. The Wild now trail the best-of-seven series 1-0. Game 2 will be played in Winnipeg on Friday night. Apr 11
Kyle Rau ActiveMinnesota has brought up Kyle Rau from Iowa of the AHL. Rau notched 23 goals and 50 points in 69 minor-league contests this year. He also had one assist in three games with Minnesota in 2017-18. Apr 15
LW | 1 | Jason Zucker ActiveJason Zucker scored twice in a 6-3 win over the San Jose Sharks on Saturday night. Zucker registered his fifth multi-goal game of the season in a winning effort the Wild. He already has a 30-goal season for the first time in his career. Zucker ends his season with 33 goals and 64 points in 82 games this year. Apr 8 |
Zach Parise SidelinedZach Parise will reportedly be sidelined for six-to-eight weeks with a broken sternum. Parise was hurt late in Game 3 versus Winnipeg on Sunday night. He was limited to just 42 games during the regular season because of a back injury. Parise was red hot going into the playoffs and he was playing well in the postseason prior to getting hurt. He just can't seem to catch a break. Apr 17
Jordan Greenway ActiveJordan Greenway found the back of the net in Sunday's Game 3 win over Winnipeg. Greenway got his first NHL goal in the playoffs after he contributed one assist in six games with the Wild during the regular season. He has two points in three postseason outings. Apr 16
Marcus Foligno ActiveMarcus Foligno logged just 9:21 of ice time in Game 3, but he made an impact in Minnesota's 6-2 victory. Foligno scored Minnesota's sixth goal of the match and he was involved in a strange tangle up with Jets defender Tyler Myers, which resulted in an injury for the Jets defender. However, before all of that happened, he set the tone physically with some hard hits. Apr 16
Tyler Ennis ActiveTyler Ennis will be in the lineup for Game 4 on Tuesday night. Ennis will get to play in his first game of the series because Zach Parise is out with a fractured sternum. He contributed eight goals and 22 points in 73 matches during the regular season. Apr 17
RW | 1 | Mikael Granlund ActiveMikael Granlund produced one goal and one assist in Minnesota's 6-2 win over Winnipeg on Sunday night. Minnesota moved Granlund up to the top line alongside Eric Staal, who also had one goal and one assist in the contest, and Jason Zucker. The change seemed to help spark the offense for the Wild. Apr 16 |
Nino Niederreiter ActiveNino Niederreiter scored a goal in a 4-1 win over Nashville on Saturday. Niederreiter extended his point streak to four games. He has 18 goals and 30 points in 55 contests this season. He'll finish well below his 2016-17 mark of 57 points, but perhaps he'll bounce back in 2018-19 if he can stay healthy. At least he seems to be finishing the campaign on a positive note. Mar 25
Charlie Coyle ActiveCharlie Coyle scored a goal in a 4-1 loss to the Edmonton Oilers. Gustav Olofsson had a nice drop pass to Tyler Ennis who sent the puck across the crease right on Coyle's stick for his 10th of the year. It's been a down year for Coyle but he has now picked up four points in his last three games, bringing him to 31 in 53 games so far this season. Mar 11
Daniel Winnik ActiveDaniel Winnik scored his fifth goal of the season in a 3-2 overtime loss to Vancouver on Sunday. Winnik, who didn't have a point in his previous four outings, gave the Wild a 2-1 lead midway through the third period, but they were unable to hold their advantage. He has accounted for 13 points in 46 games. Jan 15
Zack Mitchell ActiveZack Mitchell will be a healthy scratch in Saturday's game against the Nashville Predators. Mitchell has three goals and two assists in 22 games this season. This will be the third straight game he watches from the press box. Gustav Olofsson will also serve as a healthy scratch in this one. Mar 24
Luke Kunin I.L.Luke Kunin's knee surgery was a success. Kunin suffered an ACL tear in his left knee on Sunday. He's projected to miss the next six-to-seven months. In other words, he won't be available for the playoffs and he might miss the start of the 2018-19 campaign. Apr 4
Kurtis Gabriel ActiveKurtis Gabriel has been recalled by Minnesota. Gabriel recorded three goals, five assists and 43 penalty minutes with Iowa of the AHL this year. He had one assist and 29 PIMs in 13 appearances with Minnesota during the 2016-17 campaign. Apr 15
Justin Kloos ActiveJustin Kloos has been called up by Minnesota. Kloos registered 19 goals and 50 points in 76 games during his rookie season with Iowa of the AHL. He also appeared in one game with Minnesota during the regular season. Apr 15
D | 1 | Ryan Suter SidelinedRyan Suter will have season-ending surgery to repair a fracture in his right ankle. Suter suffered the injury during Saturday's game against the Dallas Stars. Losing him for the remainder of the regular season and the playoffs is a huge blow for a Wild team that will likely open the postseason in Winnipeg. Not only did Suter put up six goals and 51 points in 78 games this season, he also averaged 26:47 of ice time in 2017-18. The Wild have a deep blue line, but they don't have anyone who can eat up those kinds of minutes on a nightly basis. Apr 2 |
Jared Spurgeon ActiveJared Spurgeon (hamstring) will suit up in Game 1 against the Winnipeg Jets. That's huge for the Wild considering they'll be without Ryan Suter. Spurgeon missed the final 12 games of the regular season, so it'll be interesting to see how much rust he has to shake off on Wednesday. The 28-year-old had nine goals and 37 points in 61 games this season. Apr 11
Matt Dumba ActiveMatt Dumba generated one goal and one assist on Sunday night in a 6-2 win against Winnipeg. Dumba may be dealing with an injury issue, but he looked good to go in Game 3 and helped Minnesota get back into the series. He didn't have a point in the first two games at Winnipeg. Apr 16
Jonas Brodin ActiveJonas Brodin recorded his 100th career point on Saturday. Brodin got there when he scored a goal at 10:53 of the first period in what became a 6-3 win over San Jose. Brodin's never been much of an offensive contributor and it's taken him 404 games to reach the 100-point mark. He finished the 2017-18 campaign with six goals and 21 points in 73 contests. Apr 8
Nick Seeler ActiveNick Seeler had a great night Sunday in Game 3 against Winnipeg. Seeler was credited with four blocks, including some big ones on the penalty kill, and he chipped in two assists in a 6-2 victory for the Wild. He only had four helpers in 22 appearances during the regular season. Apr 16
Nate Prosser ActiveNate Prosser was good to go on Thursday night after he suffered a lower-body injury Tuesday. Prosser recorded one hit and a plus-1 rating in a team-low 12:08 of ice time in a 4-3 overtime loss to Arizona. Feb 9
Ryan Murphy ActiveRyan Murphy will be a healthy scratch in Game 4 against the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday night. Murphy had two goals and three assists in 21 games during the regular season. He hasn't dressed for any of the playoff games this year. Louie Belpedio, Kyle Rau, Kurtis Gabriel, Justin Kloos and Niklas Svedberg will also serve as healthy scratches. Apr 17
Louis Belpedio ActiveLouis Belpedio will make his NHL debut tonight against the San Jose Sharks. Belpedio was a third round pick of the Wild back in 2014 who recently completed his fourth season with Miami University (Ohio). He played 10 games in the AHL so far, picking up just two points. Apr 7
Gustav Olofsson SidelinedGustav Olofsson has been ruled out of tonight's game against the San Jose Sharks. It will mark the fifth straight game Olofsson misses due to a concussion. Apr 7
Carson Soucy ActiveCarson Soucy went through some struggles in his first NHL playoff game on Wednesday night. "I was trying to do too much almost," Soucy said. "I was just out of position on some plays that I made the wrong read, kind of, and that could be due to nerves or, I don't know, not thinking fast enough. I still think I can come away and have a better game." Soucy may drop to a combination with Nate Prosser in Game 2 on Friday night after he was paired with Jared Spurgeon. He is playing because of Ryan Suter's injury. Apr 13
G | 1 | Devan Dubnyk ActiveDevan Dubnyk allowed one goal on 27 shots in Tuesday's 2-0 loss to the Winnipeg Jets. Dubnyk can't be blamed on Mark Scheifele's first-period goal, as it was a great shot from the slot. Unfortunately for the Wild, they couldn't muster any offense in Game 4. Dubnyk now has a 1-3 record with a 2.54 goals-against-average and a .930 save percentage this season. The Wild have now backed themselves into a corner. They can no longer afford to lose any more games in this series, or they'll be packing their bags for the summer. They now trail the best-of-seven series 3-1. Game 5 will be played in Winnipeg on Friday night. Apr 17 |
| 2 | Alex Stalock ActiveAlex Stalock allowed five goals on 28 shots in a 5-4 overtime loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday night.
