Craig Smith left Friday's game against the Red Wings because of an illness.

The bug seems to be passing through the Preds locker room, as Ryan Johansen was also forced from the game because of an illness. It's unclear if either player will be available for Saturday's game against the Penguins.
Oct 22 - 11:33 AM

Craig Smith is playing on the Predators' third line alongside Mike Ribeiro and Viktor Arvidsson.

Given that Smith played a good part of last season alongside Ryan Johansen and Filip Forsberg, that's not an ideal place to be. The Preds other lines against the Blackhawks Saturday night were: Colin Wilson-MIke Fisher-James Neal, Filip Forsberg-Ryan Johansen-Kevin Fiala, Viktor Arvidsson-Mike Ribeiro-Craig Smith and Miikka Salomaki-Colton Sissons- Calle Jarnkrok. Just thought you'd want to know.

Craig Smith scored two of the Predators three goals Saturday night, but it was not enough to dull the Lightning. Tampa Bay prevailed 5-3 over Nashville.

Smith has been consistent and solid in the past three seasons. He scored 28 goals in 79 games in 2013-14, 23 in 82 games in 2014-15, and 21 in 82 games last year with the Preds.

Craig Smith played just one minute of ice time before exiting Tuesday's preseason game.

He was dealing with a lower-body injury during the playoffs, but it's unclear if this ailment is related to that. Smith appeared to be gearing up to practice on Wednesday, so consider him day-to-day for now.
Sep 28 - 3:09 PM

Craig Smith chose not to disclose what his lower-body was after the Predators were eliminated from the playoffs.

The only thing he did say was that is was "something that's definitely useful for skating." Smith had been dealing with a lower-body ailment in the playoffs, which prevented him from playing in three games.

Craig Smith will play in Tuesday's Game 3 against San Jose after all.

Originally thought to be sidelined again with a lower body injury, Smith will skate to the right of Colin Wilson and Mike Fisher on Nashville's second line as Mike Ribeiro gets scratched. Smith has a goal and an assist in six games this postseason.

Craig Smith (lower body) is questionable to play in Game 3 on Tuesday night.

He didn't take part in the morning skate and has been dealing with a lower-body injury since Game 3 of the opening round. Smith sat out Game 1 versus San Jose in Round 2, but was able to play in Game 2 on Sunday.
May 3 - 4:04 PM

Craig Smith has rejoined the Predators' lineup for Game 2 against the Sharks.

The winger has been dealing with a lower-body injury throughout the playoffs. Nashville is 0-4 in playoff games that Smith has missed, including Game 1 of this series. He had 21 goals and 37 points in 82 regular-season games. Smith has a goal and an assist in five playoff games. He's certainly a welcome addition.

It may be just a coincidence but the Predators are 0-4 in playoff games that Craig Smith has missed.

Smith is dealing with a lower-body injury and his status for Game 2 Sunday against the Sharks is not known at this time. Of course, many believe that the Preds' lack of success without Smith in the lineup is no coincidence at all and that the tenacious forward is far more important to the team than the casual fan might think. Stay tuned for further updates on Smith's health.
