The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled Scott Harrington from the AHL.

Harrington was the Penguins' second round pick in 2011. He hasn't dressed for an NHL game yet this season.
Dec 14 - 5:03 PM

Scott Harrington has been demoted by the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Harrington didn't get any playing time since being called up on Nov. 3, so this move isn't surprising. He has two points in eight AHL games in 2014-15.
Nov 10 - 10:33 AM

Scott Harrington has been a healthy scratch since being recalled on November 3.

The Penguins have been flying since his recall and coach Mike Johnston is not about to change a winning lineup. "Not right now. We’re not going to get him in," Johnston said before the game. "Defense played well. I like the balance in our defense group right now. He is a very good young defenseman. We were hoping to get him in on this swing, [but] we don’t want to force it." Stay tuned.
Nov 9 - 8:33 AM

Scott Harrington has been summoned from the minors.

He has skated in seven AHL games this season, but he hasn't dressed in an NHL game despite two previous recalls.
Nov 3 - 5:33 PM

Scott Harrington has been sent to the minors.

Harrington has been frequently moved between the AHL and NHL in the early portion of the 2014-15 campaign. Despite that, he hasn't played in a game yet with Pittsburgh.
Oct 24 - 2:19 PM

The Pittsburgh Penguins have summoned Scott Harrington.

Harrington was sent to the minors on Monday. He hasn't played for Pittsburgh yet this season, but he has gotten into an AHL game.
Oct 22 - 10:54 AM

Scott Harrington has been assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL.

He didn't get to make his NHL debut after he was recalled from the minors a little more than a week ago. Harrington will get much more playing time in the AHL than he would with Pittsburgh anyway.
Oct 20 - 5:18 PM

Scott Harrington has been called up by Pittsburgh.

Harrington was one of the last players to be cut from the Penguins' training camp roster. He had five goals and 24 points in 76 AHL games in 2013-14.
Oct 10 - 11:22 AM

Scott Harrington will report to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

Harrington has 24 points and 55 penalty minutes in 76 AHL games last season. He did impress assistant GM Tom Fitzgerald with his performance in training camp, but the odds were always stacked against Harrington making the team.
Oct 7 - 4:26 PM

Assistant GM Tom Fitzgerald said that defenseman Scott Harrington is having a great camp.

Harrington has been paired the last two games with veteran Paul Martin and that bodes well for the start of the season as Robert Bortuzzo and Olli Maatta look as if they will not start the season due to injuries. "He plays like his personality," his AHL coach from last season, John Hynes said. "He's an understated person and an understated player. And that's a compliment. He's got an incredible maturity about him. He's got a consistency that you don't see very often." Do not draft Harrington if you are looking for offense as he is a defensive defenseman.
Oct 4 - 9:33 AM

Scott Harrington has played well at camp thus far but his biggest problem may be that he can be returned to the AHL without going through waivers.

The same cannot be said for Simon Despres as he would have to pass through waivers and would likely be lost to the organization. Harrington had five goals and 24 points in his first season in the AHL and said he learned a lot under coach John Hynes and assistant coach Alain Nasreddine. "I learned tons of stuff daily in Wilkes-Barre last year," Harrington said. "Every day is a new learning experience down there."
Sep 27 - 10:43 AM

The Pittsburgh Penguins see some similarities between Scott Harrington and defensive defenseman Rob Scuderi.

"The pride. The way they play without the puck. The attention to detail. We like Scott a lot," Penguins assistant GM Tom Fitzgerald said, listing off some of the things Scuderi and Harrington have in common. Harrington will make the jump from the OHL London Knights to the AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in 2013-14.

The AHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins signed Scott Harrington to an amateur tryout agreement.

Harrington was the Penguins' second-round pick in 2011. While he might have gotten a chance to make the NHL club if there were a full season, the lockout-shortened campaign restricted him to the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League all season. Harrington finished with three goals and 19 points in 50 games with the Knights.

Scott Harrington said he was disappointed that he wasn't given a chance to participate in training camp with the Pittsburgh Penguins because of the NHL lockout.

"All summer I worked out looking forward to, hopefully, get a chance to go to camp and then see what happened from there," he said. "I'm lucky, I guess, that I'm not affected as much as the regular NHL guys. I can still play here in London, so that's what my attention is completely focused on right now." He will play his fourth season with the London Knights of the OHL in 2012-13 alongside fellow Penguins prospect Olli Maatta. Maataa, who was selected 22nd overall in the 2012 draft, was also disappointed with not being able to skate with the pros. Both of them are talented defensemen, who should be patrolling Pittsburgh's back end very soon.
