The Vancouver Canucks summoned Alexandre Grenier on Friday.

The 26-year-old has posted six goals and 14 points in 16 games for AHL Utica this season, and may provide a much-needed spark of offense for Vancouver.

"From the start of the year if there was one guy that I thought really worked himself into a position to come into camp and to make a challenge for a spot, it would be him," Benning said. Grenier could be someone to keep an eye on at Vancouver's training camp in the fall. He notched 17 goals and 43 points in 67 games with Utica of the AHL this past season and he collected 15 points in 23 matches during the playoffs.

Alexandre Grenier is starting to show why the Canucks drafted him in the third round in 2011.

Grenier has spent the season with Utica of the AHL and he has really come into his own during the playoffs with 10 points in 14 games, including the only goal in a Game 7 win over Oklahoma City on May 20. The six-foot-five inch power forward could have a chance to crack the Vancouver lineup out of training camp in the fall.
