Alexandre Grenier earned praise from Canucks GM Jim Benning.
"From the start of the year if there was one guy that I thought really worked himself into a position to come into camp and to make a challenge for a spot, it would be him," Benning said. Grenier could be someone to keep an eye on at Vancouver's training camp in the fall. He notched 17 goals and 43 points in 67 games with Utica of the AHL this past season and he collected 15 points in 23 matches during the playoffs. Jun 22 - 6:14 PM

Alexandre Grenier is starting to show why the Canucks drafted him in the third round in 2011.

Grenier has spent the season with Utica of the AHL and he has really come into his own during the playoffs with 10 points in 14 games, including the only goal in a Game 7 win over Oklahoma City on May 20. The six-foot-five inch power forward could have a chance to crack the Vancouver lineup out of training camp in the fall.

Vancouver Canuck draft pick Alexandre Grenier has signed a one-year deal with EC Red Bull Salzburg of the Austrian League.

Grenier will be coached by former NHL coach and General Manager Pierre Page and the Canucks are happy with this move. "He had an opportunity to go to Europe and play against men and to play for a really good hockey man in Pierre Page," Canucks assistant GM Laurence Gilman said. "We supported that wholeheartedly and we’ll continue to track him there." They made Grenier a contract offer to retain his rights. He had 25 goals and 64 points in 64 games with the Halifax Mooseheads and 16 points in 17 playoff games.
