Vincent Trocheck is making a strong case to remain with the Panthers even after a number of the clubs' injured forwards are ready return to action.

Trocheck was called up to Florida from San Antonio of the AHL six games ago as the Panthers had a number of forward injuries. The initial plan was for Trocheck to return to the Rampage once some combination of Brandon Pirri, Sean Bergenheim and Dave Bolland returned to action. With Pirri and Bergenheim close to a return, the Cats are re-thinking that plan. Trocheck has played well registering four assists in the six games since his recall. "That's not the way you develop players. You force kids into the wrong time wrong place," said interim coach Peter Horachek. "He'll get his opportunities and lots of opportunities if there's an injury to [centers Aleksander Barkov or Nick Bjugstad] then he'll get an opportunity. Otherwise it's best serving for him and the future for him to continue to be a top player there and play in all those situations." Florida has struggled offensively this season, but they don't feel pressured to make changes so Trocheck will have to wait for another opportunity.
