Vincent Trocheck could move to center ahead of Game 6.

The Panthers are shaking things up because of the injury to Nick Bjugstad. Trocheck is expected to play on a line with Jussi Jokinen and Reilly Smith. The 22-year-old made his return to the lineup in Game 5 and played over 31 minutes in the game (double overtime). A win in Brooklyn would push the series back to Florida for Game 7.

Vincent Trocheck will skate on Florida's third line during his return to the lineup in Game 5 against the Islanders.

This will be the youngster's first taste of NHL playoff hockey, and he'll be united with Jiri Hudler and Teddy Purcell. The veterans have combined for a goal and three points through the first four games of the series.

It looks like Trocheck will not play in Game 5 on Friday though, based on the morning skate. However, Trocheck wasn't ruled out entirely by Panthers coach Gerard Gallant and if he does play it will be as a third-line center.

He had been skating but don't be surprised if he isn't quite ready to return. Trocheck has been sidelined since Mar. 29 because of a fractured bone in his foot.

However, he is getting close and could be ready to play in Game 5 Friday. "He's on schedule, is doing well but he's not playing [Wednesday]," coach Gerard Gallant said. "The near future, that's possible." Trocheck has been sidelined since he blocked a shot on Mar. 29 and broke a bone in his foot.

That by itself is unfortunate, but the bigger question is if he'll miss any of the playoffs. It's been suggested that he might be out for the first week, but we'll have to wait and see if that proves to be on the money. Trocheck, 22, has been a big part of the Panthers' success this season with 25 goals and 53 points in 76 contests. He was hurt when he blocked a shot during Tuesday's contest. Florida has promoted Rocco Grimaldi from the minors as a result of this injury.

Vincent Trocheck scored his 25th goal of the season in Saturday's 5-2 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Not bad for a guy who'd scored just 12 goals in his first 70 NHL games. The 22-year-old tied the game at one at the 13:36 mark of the first period. He finished the game with a plus-1 rating and three shots on goal in 22:50 of ice time.
