Ondrej Palat scored a power play goal in Saturday’s 5-2 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Palat got Tampa Bay on the board with a power play goal at the 6:52 mark of the second period. The Lightning forward has now scored three times in his last four games. He’s up to seven goals and 14 points in 23 games this season. Even though he won’t get the same offensive opportunities as Steven Stamkos and Nikita Kucherov, Palat is still on pace to score over 20 goals and close to 50 points in 2017-18. Nov 25 - 10:12 PM

Oct 31 - 11:16 AM

Ondrej Palat scored twice in Tampa Bay's 5-3 victory over Florida on Friday.

Oct 7 - 5:31 AM

Ondrej Palat has been paired with Tyler Johnson at training camp.

Coach Jon Cooper has also kept Steven Stamkos with Nikita Kucherov and Ryan Callahan with Chris Kunitz. Palat and Johnson have enjoyed success with Kucherov in the past, but they could still make for a solid second-line duo without him.

Ondrej Palat believes that Tampa Bay's rough 2016-17 campaign will serve as a lesson for the team.

Tampa Bay failed to make the playoffs after reaching the Eastern Conference Final in 2016 and Stanley Cup Final in 2015. "It was an experience for us last year because we came from two good (playoff) runs and we thought we were going to make the playoffs just like that, and it didn't happen," Palat said. "In the NHL we have to play good from the beginning of the season, and we have to be good all season long." Part of the Lightning's shortcomings last season can be pinned on the fact that Steven Stamkos was unavailable for the vast majority of the season, but certainly the Lightning would like to be a team that overcomes even high levels of adversity. Palat is armed with a five-year, $26.5 million contract that he signed this summer.
Jul 21 - 8:19 AM

Ondrej Palat has signed a five-year, $26.5 million contract extension with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Palat scored 16 goals and 63 points in 75 games in 2014-15, but he hasn't done quite as well since. He was slowed somewhat by injury in 2015-16 and then last season he had 17 goals and 52 points in 75 contests. Still, those are pretty solid numbers and given his cap hit and history, this has the potential to be a really good contract for the Lightning. With this the Lightning have locked up all their major RFAs this summer as Tyler Johnson recently agreed to a seven-year, $35 million deal. The core of the Lightning is now locked up for a while and it will be interesting to see how they perform together over the next few years.
Jul 14 - 5:28 PM

With Tyler Johnson signed to a seven-year, $35 million contract, Lightning GM Steve Yzerman is expected to focus on locking up Ondrej Palat too.

Palat is a restricted free agent with an arbitration hearing set for July 25. In other words, the two sides have two weeks to work out a deal or an arbitrator will decide on a short-term contract for them. "He's a very important player," Yzerman said of Palat. "I'm very hopefully we can reach an agreement before arbitration." It wouldn't be surprising to see Palat get a contract similar to Johnson's.
Jul 11 - 8:31 AM

Ondrej Palat has put in a request for salary arbitration.

Palat scored 17 goals and 52 points in 75 contests last season. He completed a three-year, $10 million deal.
Jul 5 - 7:32 PM

Ondrej Palat is an important restricted free agent that Tampa Bay will have to re-sign in the off-season.

He has topped 50 points in three of his four full seasons in the NHL and in 2014-15 he surpassed the 60-point plateau. Palat's last contract was a three-year bridge deal, so he will probably be looking for something more long term this time around.
Apr 17 - 11:17 AM

Ondrej Palat contributed two assists in Thursday's 4-1 victory versus Toronto.

Palat was also credited with five hits in the contest. He has been red hot down the stretch with 21 points in the last 19 games. Palat has accounted for multi-point performances in five of his past eight outings.
Apr 7 - 9:58 AM

Ondrej Palat collected his third multi-point game this week during Sunday's 6-3 win over the Stars.

Palat scored a goal and registered two assists, giving him seven points over his last four games. He has 17 goals and 49 points in 71 contests this season.
Apr 2 - 10:28 PM

Ondrej Palat is riding a six-game point streak.

He earned two assists in Thursday's 5-3 win over Detroit. Palat has been red hot in March with 16 points in 15 games. He is finally resembling the offensive player he has been during his previous NHL seasons.
Mar 31 - 9:57 AM

Ondrej Palat notched a goal and an assist Monday night in a 5-4 OT win versus Chicago.

He has two goals and six helpers during a five-game point streak. Palat has racked up 14 points in 14 appearances this March as the Lightning compete for a playoff spot in the East.
Mar 28 - 11:02 AM

Ondrej Palat found the back of the net in Friday's 2-1 OT win over the Detroit Red Wings.

Palat's goal tied the game at one at the 5:53 mark of the third period. The Lightning forward has been on a roll of late, as he has six points in his last four games and 10 points in his last nine. Palat is up to 15 goals and 27 assists in 67 games this season.
