Ondrej Palat (lower body) isn't close to returning, per Lightning head coach Jon Cooper.
Palat was originally projected to miss three-to-five weeks and he's only two and a half weeks into that timetable. In other words, when Cooper says that Palat is "still a ways away," that shouldn't be taken as too discouraging of a sign within the context of what we already knew. He was injured this past Saturday against Minnesota. Palat has two goals and seven points in 16 games, but he's an important part of a Tampa Bay offense that has struggled to start the 2015-16 campaign.

There still hasn't been an update on the status of Ondrej Palat after he suffered a lower-body injury Saturday.

The Lightning play on Tuesday against Buffalo and if Palat can't go then the team will call up someone from the minors.

Lightning head coach Jon Cooper said that Ondrej Palat's lower body injury "doesn't look good".

"It didn’t look good,’’ Cooper said. "Palat is the ultimate gamer so when you see somebody like him go off like he did, it’s never encouraging. You hope he’s going to be okay and I would say there is concern." Palat is considered day-to-day at this point.

Ondrej Palat left Saturday's game against Minnesota due to a lower body injury.

Palat saw 8:35 of work with a pair of shots and hits to his credit before leaving the game. Not much is known about the injury but, he was seen favoring his left leg as he exited. We will keep you posted.

Ondrej Palat moved to a line with Steven Stamkos and Ryan Callahan in Sunday's win over Carolina.

He registered an assist on a goal by Ryan Callahan. Alex Killorn took Palat's spot on a line with Tyler Johnson and Nikita Kucherov at the start of the second period.

Ondrej Palat scored the game-winning goal in overtime in the Lightning’s 4-3 win over the Jets.

Palat is off to a slow start, with just four points in eight games. However, he now has a point in three straight. Hopefully, this is a sign of things to come, as he was a very popular player in fantasy drafts this year. He will look to extend his point scoring streak to four games tomorrow night against the Blackhawks.

Ondrej Palat scored a goal in the Lightning's 3-2 win against the Blackhawks on Monday.

It was Palat's first point of the Stanley Cup Final. He now has eight goals and 16 points in 23 playoff contests. His goal total is especially impressive when you factor in that he's only recorded 32 shots on goal, giving him a 25% success rate.

Ondrej Palat helped pave the way to victory in Game 3 for Tampa Bay on Wednesday night.

Palat registered his first career three point game in the playoffs with two goals and an assist. His first tally was on the power play as well. It was simply another stellar game for the 24 year old, who now has points in four straight games with four goals and seven points over that span. Palat now has six goals and 13 points this postseason.

Ondrej Palat was the only Tampa Bay Lightning player who managed to score against Henrik Lundqvist as the New York Rangers beat the Bolts 2-1 in Game 1.

"The Triplets" line has now scored 18 of Tampa Bay's 35 goals in the postseason, combining with Ben Bishop to drag the Lightning to this point. Palat now has four goals and five assists for nine points in 14 playoff games.

Ondrej Palat scored his third goal of the playoffs in Game 6 on Tuesday night.

He gave the Lightning a 3-0 lead going into the third period. Palat also added an assist on Nikita Kucherov's first goal of the match. He has collected eight points in 13 playoff games to help get Tampa Bay into the Eastern Conference Finals.

Ondrej Palat scored his sixth point of the playoffs on Thursday night with a power play goal to open the third period, unfortunately Tampa Bay would fall 6-2 in Game Four to Montreal.

After scoring 65 points in 73 regular season games, Palat has had trouble finding the net this postseason. But he now owns a two-game point streak where he's scored two assists, plus tonight's goal.

He went pointless in the first three games of the series. Tyler Johnson set up Palat for the game-tying goal shortly after scoring his first goal of the game. Johnson potted the game winner just 2:25 into the extra session and Palat earned a helper on it.

Palat and his linemates Tyler Johnson and Nikita Kucherov were unable to solve Petr Mrazek on this night, collecting only five shots on goal as a group. Look for the powerful trio to bounce back in Game 4 Thursday.

He set up a pair of goals by Tyler Johnson and another by Steve Stamkos (power play) in the match. Palat has racked up 47 assists and 63 points in 74 games this season. Both of those numbers represent new personal bests.
