"It felt good," Lowry said. "I was pretty excited to get it underway. I was a little nervous during the day, just anxious to get it underway. As the game wore on, I started to get more comfortable. The first two shifts I was able to get a couple of hits in and it allowed me to settle my nerves and know I could play with these guys." Adam Lowry would like to make the Jets' roster out of training camp, but if he doesn't then he's OK with starting his pro career in the minors.

Lowry, who was the WHL player of the year last season, is being viewed as a bit of dark horse to begin the 2013-14 campaign in the NHL with Winnipeg. He got a taste of the AHL last year, with St. John's, and posted one assist in nine contests. It's likely that he'll head down to the minors for some seasoning, but he could be in the big league at some point this season.

"As I've gotten stronger I've been able to hang onto the puck longer and win more battles. I'm going to continue to work on getting stronger -- I know the guys in the AHL and NHL are a lot bigger and stronger. Adam Lowry has adjusted well this season to his new position at center.

He has been back on left wing the past few games, but his size and versatility have been displayed early into this campaign. Lowry has recorded nine goals and 21 points in 20 games as captain of the WHL's Swift Current Broncos. "I've been happy with my start," he said. "I knew coming into the year it was going to be big for me because I missed the last half coming off (wrist) surgery. I wanted to get off to a good start, not only for myself but for the team. I've battled a little bit of inconsistency, but I've been getting back on the right track." He hasn't an issue with his wrist this year and will participate in both games of the Super Series for Team WHL against Russia. Lowry is hoping to land on the radar of Hockey Canada for the world junior team with a strong performance in the two-game set. He was chosen by the Winnipeg Jets in the third round of the 2011 draft.
