Tyler Bunz is trying to bounce back from a rough season with the ECHL Stockton Thunder.

The Oilers have signed Randy Bachman, who is expected to be the team's third-string goaltender and start the season in the AHL Oklahoma. "I can only control what I do and this camp is good for that. It gets me back into game shape, then whatever happens next year, happens," Bunz said. "Just because they signed another goalie doesn't mean I’m going to give up. It doesn't mean I’m not going to work for that spot in Oklahoma. I want to be there, so I’m going to do everything in my power to hopefully change the minds of the coaches. I don’t think I gave them a lot of reason to trust me with the season I had, but it could all be forgotten if I have a good start at camp." Bunz had a 3.35 GAA and .886 save percentage in 37 games last season.

The Oklahoma City Barons have sent Edmonton Oilers goaltending prospect Tyler Bunz to the Stockton Thunder of the East Coast Hockey League.

The organization would like Bunz to see significant action as part of his development plan, but the presence of Yann Danis in Oklahoma City wasn't going to allow that so the former Medicine Hat Tiger will suit up in the ECHL. He'll likely be one of the better netminders in that league and could find himself back in the AHL later this season.
