Antoine Roussel registered his 10th goal of the season on Tuesday as part of 4-2 loss to the Blue Jackets.
With 20 points and 82 penalty minutes in what amounts to about half a season, Roussel is a fantasy gem in leagues that reward PIM and is probably still underrated despite the perennial love he receives from Rotoworld. Ales Hemsky also scored a goal for Dallas in the loss. Jan 7 - 12:13 AM

Both Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn were held off the score board. Dallas can thank goalie Kari Lehtonen and its' secondary scoring for this win.

Antoine Roussel was one of the few members of the Stars to make a positive contribution despite a 4-0 loss to Toronto on Tuesday.

As is his style, Roussel racked up nine penalty minutes in the defeat and was one of just a few Dallas players who wasn't saddled with a negative plus/minus rating in the contest. His 85 PIM place him second in the league behind only the Penguins' Steve Downie.

Antoine Roussel scored a goal in Dallas' 2-1 loss to Minnesota on Saturday.

Roussel's second period goal gave Dallas a 1-0 lead, but they were unable to fight off the Wild. The 24-year-old is not only a physical presence, but he can also put up some points. Roussel now has five goals and 10 points in 17 games this season. He is on pace to surpass the 20-goal mark for the first time in his career.

Antoine Roussel will have a hearing on Monday as he sucker punched Justin Braun late in Saturday's game.

The incident happened with only 69 seconds to go and Roussel ended up getting two minutes and a game misconduct as he apparently hit Braun while the linesman was holding back the Sharks defenseman.

Antoine Roussel will start Thursday's game on the top power-play unit.

"We're looking for more net front," coach Lindy Ruff said. "We have to get somebody inside, and I think that we have good skill on the power play. We need somebody that's willing to really take one for the team _ stay in there, hunker down. We've got some good shooters. We need a guy that can take the goalie's eyes away." Roussel has chipped in two goals and six points in 12 games this year. Playing on the power play should give him a nice boost for as long as it lasts.

Antoine Roussel scored a goal in Dallas' 2-1 overtime loss to Anaheim on Friday.

Roussel is an intriguing player. He has the potential to score close to 20 goals per season, and is able to put up a lot of penalty minutes as well. The 24-year-old now has four goals and six points in 10 games this season. He is also on pace to surpass the 200-penalty minute mark.

Antoine Roussel scored the only goal for the Stars in their 4-1 loss to the Predators on Saturday night.

The 24-year-old is a penalty-minute monster, so it’s not surprising to also see him record 14 of those Saturday. He has two points on the season. A 40-point season with 200 penalty minutes isn’t out of reach. Ryan Garbutt and Trevor Daley had the assists. Alex Goligoski finished a team-low minus-four.

Antoine Roussel skated alongside Jason Spezza and Ales Hemsky in Monday's preseason game against the St. Louis Blues.

He could be in store for a larger role in the Stars' offensive attack if he can land a spot alongside Spezza. Roussel racked up 209 penalty minutes in 81 games last year, but coach Lindy Ruff would like to see him tone down in that regard this campaign. "He and I reached an agreement to trade things off, and I think that worked out well," said Ruff. "His goals, I don't think anyone would have predicted that. I think he realizes he can be more than a guy who has to stir it up. I think he's a guy who has the tools to create offense." Roussel had 14 goals and 29 points in 2013-14 as well, which helped earn him a four-year, $8 million contract in the summer.

Antoine Roussel might have a chance to be a relevant fantasy player in more than just the penalty minutes department for the upcoming season.

With 294 penalty minutes in 120 NHL games, the 24 year old Frenchman is a lock to pile on the PIMs. But Roussel also has a chance this season to play his way onto the Stars' second line, giving him the opportunity to line up with Jason Spezza. Roussel has never been a consistent scorer, and faces plenty of competition to claim a top-six role, but considering the upside of playing on Spezza's wing, the power forward is a potential fantasy sleeper. We will keep an eye on who Spezza plays with during training camp.

Stars GM Jim Nill said Antoine Roussel is a big part of the Stars' plans going forward.

Roussel inked a four-year, $8 million extension with Dallas. "He's a character guy who has worked hard to become an NHL player," Nill said of Roussel. "It was important for us to get this done with him." Roussel had 29 points and 209 penalty minutes in 81 games in 2013-14.

Antoine Roussel has inked a four-year, $8 million deal with the Dallas Stars.

That's pretty good for Dallas compared to the $2.35 million annually Roussel requested from the arbitrator on a one or two-year deal. If he didn't agree to terms, he would have had his arbitration hearing on Tuesday. He has 29 points, 209 penalty minutes, and 146 hits in 81 games in 2013-14.
