After beating cancer, Oilers prospect Brandon Davidson is ready to continue his quest to play in the NHL.

The blueliner was a sixth-round pick in the 2010 draft who doesn't have big-time pedigree but has continued to beat every obstacle on his path, the latest of which was testicular cancer, which he was diagnosed with on Nov. 1, 2012. "It has definitely opened my eyes to a lot of things," he said of the experience of beating cancer. "It changed me as a person; it changed my whole outlook on life. You only have so many days. It made me think about what I really want in life, and what I really want is to be an NHL player. It motivated me. Made me stronger. A better person. I overcame a lot there, for a while." Davidson will play in the AHL this season.
