Brandon Davidson was one of four Edmonton Oilers sent to the minors Wednesday.

Cameron Abney and Kale Kessy will join him in Oklahoma City while winger Mitch Moroz was sent back to the Edmonton Oil Kings of the WHL. Davidson was diagnosed with testicular cancer on Nov. 1, 2012 and has fully recovered. He should spend the whole season in the AHL.

After beating cancer, Oilers prospect Brandon Davidson is ready to continue his quest to play in the NHL.

The blueliner was a sixth-round pick in the 2010 draft who doesn't have big-time pedigree but has continued to beat every obstacle on his path, the latest of which was testicular cancer, which he was diagnosed with on Nov. 1, 2012. "It has definitely opened my eyes to a lot of things," he said of the experience of beating cancer. "It changed me as a person; it changed my whole outlook on life. You only have so many days. It made me think about what I really want in life, and what I really want is to be an NHL player. It motivated me. Made me stronger. A better person. I overcame a lot there, for a while." Davidson will play in the AHL this season.

Brandon Davidson skated for the first time since his cancer diagnosis.

Davidson has been off the ice since his diagnosis and subsequent surgery for testicular cancer in late October and early November. "It's great to get back on the ice," said Davidson. "I've been waiting a really long time so when I got told last night that I was skating with the team, I was pretty happy. It was a tough one but it's great to get back out there and feel like I'm part of the team again." Davidson was selected in the sixth round of the 2010 draft by the Oilers and signed to an entry-level deal back in May.

Brandon Davidson has resumed working out just weeks after ongoing surgery for testicular cancer.

"He feels really good and we’re waiting to see what the next course of action is," AHL Oklahoma City Barons head coach Todd Nelson said. We wish him a speedy recovery.

He will head in for immediate treatment at The Peggy and Charles Stephenson Cancer Center. Davidson has skated in six games with AHL Oklahoma City this season, while generating one assist and six penalty minutes. He was selected in the sixth round of the 2010 draft by the Oilers and signed to an entry-level deal back in May. We wish him the best in his recovery.

Edmonton has agreed to an entry-level contract with Brandon Davidson.

He potted 13 goals and 49 points in 69 games for Regina, of the WHL, this past campaign. Davidson also had a plus-26 rating and 83 penalty minutes. He'll likely spend most of his time in the minors next year.

Brandon Davidson has been cut from the Edmonton Oilers' training camp roster.

Davidson is expected to start the season with the WHL Regina Pats. He had eight goals and 52 points in 72 WHL contests last season.
