This will be his fourth game with Montreal since coming over from Edmonton in a trade. Davidson has posted an assist with three hits and blocks with Montreal. In 31 total games thus far, he's picked up two goals with 18 PIMs, 34 hits and 49 blocks.

Davidson was acquired from Edmonton for David Desharnais, but he still hasn't been able to get into the lineup. On Monday, he was paired with Jeff Petry during the team's practice in Vancouver. Head coach Claude Julien said he'll make his final lineup decisions after tomorrow's morning skate.

The Montreal Canadiens acquired Brandon Davidson from the Edmonton Oilers for center David Desharnais.

Davidson missed 30 games because of an upper-body injury earlier this season and he just hasn't been as effective as he was last year. Davidson has just one assist in 28 contests this season, but he had 11 points in 51 contests in 2015-16. He's averaging 15:24 of ice time this year (he was averaging 19:11 last season). Davidson has one year remaining on his contract at a cap hit of $1.45 million. Don't be surprised if Montreal makes another move. They currently have six left-handed defensemen on their roster.

Brandon Davidson is still unhappy on Matthew Tkachuk's opening night hit on him.

Davidson missed two months from an upper body injury after he was slew-footed by the rookie. "I was miserable for a long time over that," Davidson said. "It’s definitely a game I had circled on the calendar for a long time. It was a dirty play. It put a damper on things and put me behind the eight ball...He shot the puck, it went up off my stick and into the mesh (above the glass). The whistle blew, we skated three seconds to behind the net and it was a slew foot, you can clearly see from the video." The two teams battled Saturday for the first time but there were no incidents between Davidson and Tkachuk.
